Jan its a facebook problem that seems to occur! Rather than share the link direct- use the view poster- then right click on the link and paste that- it should then just show the MISSING poster.
DogLostOwl
Someone may indeed have her, but let us still remember that on the other hand she may be running loose somewhere and scavenging when it is quiet. So let's all keep our eyes peeled and be open to all possibilities.

Went to share this, but when you click on the fb post link, it goes onto the timeline showing her as being Rainbow bridge !! THERE IS A FAULT WITH THE FB PAGE SHARE, WHEN YOU USE IT, IT SHOWS UP ON TIMELINE AS PURDY AT RAINBOW BRIDGE !!! POSTER SHARE IS OK SHOWS HER STILL MISSING Last edited: 2014-12-16 21:37:21 by janp18

I am pleased this has been confirmed asa hoax. my hunch is someone has her anf thought by saying she was dead nobody would look for her .....the owner needs to hike up the search, make her too hot to handle .media , facebook, twitter tons of posters anything to keep her in the limelight.... we have so many hoaxes now going around it makes me sick. Wonder if one of the national would take up the story?

Posting for a friend...she is a beautiful 8 mth old Dalmation..she is MICROCHIPPED and very unusual for her to not come back when called. Comes from an extremely loving home and owner is devastated
Tinksbaby
thinking off the family at this time ive asked a member on my group to do a thunderclap for purdy her name is Lola Mills in the proces of getting it set up will take 3 days to be approved there is a thunderclap page from lola on fb so once its set up ill let u know paws crossed you get purdy home x
silver
What a tragic story, but at least if not a hoax (and there are such evil people out there)thee is STILL hope for Purdy. Huntingdon is nowhere near Abington Park as know that area. Can you think DalmationWeimanar4Life that there is anyone who purchased dog from you who has some vengeance (and record of someone with name of Marie or Maria). Go back thru records. Everyone is hoping and praying for Purdy's return and my guess is that she is currently staying with someone rather than roaming streets cold. Glad (odd to say that) that she is back on "lost" page.
Karis
well I thoughtid heard and seen it all-but this takes the biscuit-beyond cruel-I think owners need to contact lola mills through fb-and she can set up a thunderclap post to get this beautiful girl home-and hopefully give her owners some comfort that the word is out there more than ever now-I shall certainly be sharing this news around.x
Dawn k9
Hi Doglost please can you check the details of the post as when it is shared now it still comes up with rainbow bridge :( thanks dawn x

Nasty hoax that upset not only the owners but many other dog lovers. It gave me a couple of nights of insomnia. The thought of that terrible hoax "event" haunts me.How cruel to make that call.I feel so much for the owners of Purdy and for other lost dog owners that were worried with this news. The best outcome now is for Purdy to be reunited. We are all hoping and keeping watch.
Dalmationweimarnar4life
I just want to say thank you to all the people helping us trying to find our beloved purdy especial our friend sportyspice59 for creating a lost poster for us on dog lost and introducing is to the site. Also a big thank you to Jayne for all the help and support and advise she has giving us to help find purdy and helping get to the bottom of the crual phone call we received telling us our purdy was dead. However my partner and I are also very hurt and distraught by some of the crual and vicious comments some people have put and think it's very disgraceful and shameful that some people feel the need to attack people who are already hurt and distressed due to the loss of a loved one . General know the support and kind comments have been eminence and it's very comforting to know that there are so many people out their so willing to help and support us find purdy so thank you all for you kindness
DogLostMe N My Girl - Administrative Volunteer
Fionap I agree with your thinking re. the malicious call. There aren't many dalmations in my area of Essex but to me Purdy has very distinctive markings. Very dark round the eyes and long "splodges" of black on her right front leg and around the kneck, wonder if this could be "highlighted" in some way. Just love these fun scatty dogs and I hope her owners get her back soon.
fionap58
If the call was designed to put owner off looking for Purdy them we can assume they have her? If so it's worth reporting her as stolen and perhaps getting her name in the papers, also could we donate to a reward fund and advertise that too?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Owners have called back after taking advice and calling petlog who have confirmed that no one has rung them for owners details. They have also said to owners this is a call designed to make you think the dog is dead and to stop looking for Purdy...so status changed back to lost at owners request.
Due to this hoax call which probably came from someone seeing his details on line it has been requested we keep our number on as contact.
Owner thanks you for help in spreading the word to help in recovering Purdy..and is a bit shell shocked as they were grieving for her...now there looks as there could be hope....
Unknown
I think there may be a way of tracking where a phone call was made from. I know one call was tracked during a crime investigation, and this was a mobile phone. so you could be right HazelLast edited: 2014-12-14 12:08:52
DogLostSherlock- Area Co-ordinator & Police Liaison - Avon & South Gloucestersh
Is there anyway of tracking the phone call used ....worth checking with police as this type of activity causes alarm and distress which potentially wfalls under section 4 criminal proceedings....worth a report in case this hoaxer is known to the police or they have received previous report xx shocking behaviour and my thoughts are with Purdy and owner xx
fionap58
If it was all a hoax I could cry for the owner as they must have been heartbroken. The thought that someone could be so completely immoral as to do this.....well it doesn't surprise me 'cos it was done several times to me when I lost Merlin, but it shocks me rigid that anyone could be so cruel. Is there any suggestion that the call to say she was found dead in a field is in anyway connected with Purdys disappearance?Last edited: 2014-12-13 21:46:41 by fionap58
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Niki..tx for your concern...No false posts were put on doglost...if you read back through all the comments the false info came via a phone call to owner...we are looking into this...please trust us on this.
niki_s_uk
Hi, I'm sickened that someone has been so cruel as to spread this hoax. I just wanted to say, can the police (or yourselves for the posts on here) not get hold of the IP address for the posts where false info has been given? I realize the lady who posted acted after a telephone conversation but isn't it possible to also get that info? The ones on doglost should be easy to trace via IP address certainly , where info regarding the dog supposedly found warm and well fed. When it clearly wasn't the case. These people need to be stopped playing with peoples already raw emotions. I hope Purdy turns up safely soon xx
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Yes the owner is going to ring us back with the chip details...Remember that details were put on by a friend of a friend who at the time probably did not know the dog was chipped...we have left Purdy in the blue so people can find this thread but once we have confirmed whether or not petlog were contacted then we can amend to lost again and then take the relevant course of action.
Jot cotswolds
If it WAS a hoax call and owner is genuine, then it was someone trying to stop him conducting a search for the dog and keeping noise down about it being missing. Surely LOTS of noise is needed on social media to find the dog asap...
Happiness yorkie lover xxx
If Purdue is microchipped then details are on here as it's unknown x so maybe an idea to get the chip number when the owner rings back x
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
council and police all have no record...see earlier posts...
galaxy
If in any doubt ring the relevant council and ask the head of the enviromental health if the dog warden logged any info.....I hope this is a hoax....
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Purdys owner has rung doglost and is naturally upset about the speculation so I would ask people to refrain. All we know is someone left a message sayimg they were a dog warden and that Purdy was found dead in a field along with other dogs. The person who rang left no phone number only said they had scanned the dog. No body has been seen and no one has any reports of this incident happening so we are saying this is highly likey to be a hoax call. Have advised owners to ring petlog who can tell them if anyone has scanned his dog and rung in for owners details as the caller claimed to have done. Owners were naturally distressed to have this message left. Owners will be calling tomorrow to update us..we will keep you informed of outcome...at the moment we will leave Purdy in The blue until verification is received otherwise.
AlisonH
I have spoken to the owner this morning he is doing all he can to get to the bottom of this as are our investigation team.
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
A post on FB which was from a supposed friend of the owner said that 'the owner received a voice message about Purdy being found in a field and that it has turned out to be a hoax'!!!
moppetswood
Has anyone checked with Wood Green who are local to Huntingdon. Can't understand why the owner can't be contacted to find out the facts.
wibble58
words fail me, that if this is a hoax (really hope it is) that people could waste time do this on such a great site, which helps so many families be reunited with their furbabies. Will continue to follow and keep everything crossed that nothing bad has happened to Purdy x
Unknown
Purdy still missing then? This mystery would I think even baffle Sherlock Holmes
Jot cotswolds
I suggest the "breeder" ..if he is registered as one ...maybe needs looking at closely by someone who has the authority to do so. Clearly sounds like the dog met a nasty end and he has lied about how? The sooner backyard breeders can stop selling dogs the better
Sportyspice59
Thank you Jayne for clarifying.
Sportyspice59
Yes the reason I haven't been on to update is because I have been dealing directly with dogs lost admin. I know the owner because I brought a puppy from him 13 weeks ago. I saw him every week when we went to visit our pup until we collected her. I also saw Purdy on several occasions. The owner has given me the information that I have posted and I have urged him to contact lost dogs on several occasions including when she first went missing! The number I originally posted was his but for some reason has been changed to 0844. I am absolutely as confused as everyone else. Last edited: 2014-12-11 21:28:48 by Sportyspice59

So as Purdy is still missing, can she be moved back to the 'lost' category?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Please ladies...calm...obviously there is more we are looking into...Doglost number is on site...that's the 0844 800 3220...and yes Fiona.. everyone is ringing it. Sportyspice is a doglost helper who posted on behalf of a friend of a friend and the FB updates...we are in contact with her...Sportyspice is only reporting what has been told to her by a third party..and we are looking into everything...
fionap58
Also just noticed sportys phone number is an 0844? That's not a normal land line number is it? Has anyone tried ringing it?
fionap58
So, who is sportyspice59? They logged Purdy as missing AND reported that she'd been found in the field and claim to be a close enough friend of the owner to know that they are devastated. Did they get the info about the dogs in the field from the owner, or get it from someone else and pass it to the owner. And why hasn't sportyspice59 been back on here to say she's been in contact with her friend and Purdy wasn't found dead after all? Odder and odder and sounds very much like a complete waste of everyones time!
allimac
Very odd. Not sure if Purdy is still missing? I hope so, though that sounds strange too, but better than this alternative.
Pet SearchersJan.Petsearchuk
So are we to understand that Purdy is still out there somewhere lost? Is there someone playing silly beggars on this group as the other day someone reported to Ellie that the Cocker missing from Uttoxeter was found warm and well fed when in actual fact, having spoken to his owner he was still missing at that time but found days later sore and tired and needing vets attention...a far cry from warm and well fed!!
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
I assure you having made extensive enquiries (thank you to the journalist) this is a fabricated story of these dead dogs found in a field...we sympathise with everyone who has thought it may be one of their missing dogs...worry not..its not... so please keep looking...
Unknown
Why would somebody want to make this up? Words fail me! And who did find Purdy?
labradorloopy
Do we know who found Purdy? If it was the owner has anyone contacted them directly? Do we know if Purdy's body was retrieved or if this is 'hearsay'? I find this all very odd but I am struggling to work out a motivation for concocting such an emotive story. Even if there is the slightest chance this could be true, there may be 5 dogs out there/somewhere with owners who need to know.
Harvey boy
I live near Huntington which is in cannock ws12 area I've not heard any reports along this nature I can try and find out the name of the dog warden if you still need it?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Having spoken to the journalist looking into this who has spent all day researching yesterday...we can confirm that this report of dead dogs found in a field is not true. We still have no idea of what happened to Purdy...and if anyone knows anything please call admin and not leave a post on this thread. thank you...
Unknown
My sympathy to her family, and those of the other dogs; very odd this case. Night, night, Purdy, and the other dogs, sleep tight, and have fun together at the bridge, u ntil you are met by your loved ones. RIP+ and /God bless all the dogs. A~~~Candle~~~burns for them all. Hope that this is a hoax and owner is not involved . Maybe they are not involved and Purdie still missing and they have some hope of her coming home . Need some confirmation so Purdie can be listed as Missing not dead .
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
So far investigations have not yet found this dog warden but still searching. The procedure for any cases like this ( from a reliable RSPCA officer)..... Finder would report matter to council animal warden or dog warden. they would attend and also alert RSPCA or animal health. RSPCA would then send details by email all over the country. Police would also be informed. NO such report has been made to RSPCA or police.
BUBBLES
I have noticed a lot of the reports on the dogs found dead in a field have been removed as untrue. I hope and pray that it was a sick hoax from some brain dead idiot.

i can't believe this, how terrible for Purdy and her owners, they must be going through hell.

Tx for your patience...CJ our police co-ordinator and The dog world reporter aka helper name wetnose will be in contact with each other shortly and work to find out more...
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Agree this is not adding up. I am making enquiries and need to know more but will have to speak with owner. We need to know how the owners were approached as the name of the dog warden who contacted them is not known to Huntington DW. Police or RSPCA know nothing of this.
fionap58
This is all very weird isn't it? How come the police and dog wardens are unaware? How was Purdy identified? Who found the dogs and how did they know who to contact? If it's true it's horrifying and if it isn't then it's even weirder and more horrifying. Hope whoever did this or posted a false report is caught quickly
Seeks
This is odd.....Even if shot through worrying its a police investigation.....

I didn't share this as I went into melt down as I expect a lot of us did with missing loved dogs.... I will sit quietly and see what happens but if it true (and I actually hope its not) please let them find out what breeds the others were too...I am sure I am not the only one who is also worried as well as deeply upset if its true. xx

From Cambs police: Hello,

This is not something I am aware, I have spoken with our Press Office and they are not aware either. I have checked local press and there is nothing that I can find relating to this locally. There is a post on doglost.co.uk but at this time I am unable to say one way or the other.
I would suggest keeping an eye on local press and if anything does come to us we will most likely publish a press release.

Kind regards
Wetnose
I can confirm:
Huntingdon Police have no record of any deceased canines being found in their area in the last 10 days.
Huntingdon Dog Warden is unaware of any deceased dogs being found in the area in the last 10 days. (unable to speak to DW directly but incident records are available)
Nothampton DW service are unaware of any such incident.
In case there was an error in the spelling I also contacted HuntigTON (Staffs) to inquire, no report of found dogs.
I would urge the owner of Purdy to contact Dog Lost direct to avoid further confusion and also to either confirm or retract the recent report of Purdy's sad circumstances, until contact is made the investigation will continue

  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (76937)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
