Really sad to report that Ariel's body was found on the road this morning. Team Ariel had worked so very hard to bring her to safety but sadly she has ventured from the safety of the farmland and onto the main road.

Can email alerts be resent for this girl please?
We don't want people to try and catch her, but we like any sightings to be called in....
Also can it be noted that she is NO longer trailing her lead, Thanks
lab
So glad that Aerial is still being sighted. Admiration for those still trying to get her to safety.
Lincsminx
Yes, after posting my comment somebody put on Facebook that there had recently been a sighting which is great news. Fingers crossed
duffs54
I did read that she has been seen in the last couple of days by the people searching for her and they don't want to hamper the work being done by giving out the area etc. so fingers crossed she might be caught soon

Lincsminx
We have heard nothing about this poor girl for sometime since things got a bit heated with the comments on Facebook. Is there any news that we can be told about that won't hinder her safe capture.
whadro
No, there isn't: Ariel has been spotted again in the Thorney area, so she's sticking to her new territory. I've never heard of Holdingham, and I can't believe Ariel would want to hang out on an A15 roundabout.
Paw
Is there any chance that the dog seen, ref 79185, (but not caught) on the A15 Holdingham roundabout could be Ariel. I know it's a long way from Thorney, but there doesn't appear to have been any sightings of her for a while now.
lab
Hope Ariel is found soon. Thoughts are with the dedicated people still looking for her.
duffs54
Yes she has been out there a long time, any new sightings?
lab
Really hope this dog is safe, and found soon.
Kazzie
She was lost in gedney hill and then moved to thorney and then whittlesey.shes certainy moving about.stay safe ariel and hope you settle in one place so you can go home.x
Lincsminx
Has she gone back to the area where she was originally lost from, Thorney?
duffs54
Good she's still in the same areas then fingers crossed she stays somewhere where she can be caught. but if shes that spooked it's going to be tough x
whadro
She was seen early today by a farmer in Thorney, who phoned the owners to let them know. Dog 77716 was found somewhere near Milton Keynes - i.e. nowhere near Thorney.
duffs54
Was so worried with all tthe fireworks etc, no more sightings then
Jac
what about found dog 77716 ???
dare2dream
77700 tri collie, think it looks younger but could it be Ariel?

Just seen that dog has been reunited with its owner so it wasn't Ariel.Last edited: 2014-11-05 21:34:15 by dare2dream
Debz
No, that one was a duplicate of 76614. Reunited :)
Jac
is this found dog 76786?
Paw
Any more news or sightings of Ariel recently? I may be over that way again tomorrow so will keep an eye open.
duffs54
Ah thank you
Kazzie
Its all hanson brick, going towards whittlesey, the left is kings dyke and right is the saxon works.x
duffs54
I don't live far away, which side was she spotted as there are two either side of the road?

Hanson and London Brick I think?
Lincsminx
Hope this collie that's been sighted is Ariel. Would be good to have had a sighting after so long
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
I have had a message back and the people who saw this dog said it was definitely a tri coloured Collie, very scared and dirty, but not sure if there was a lead attached.

Thank you Sonia for getting back to me quickly x
duffs54
Hope she appears again soon, xx
Sammie
Sonia do you know, or could you ask if the lead was still attached?
Sonia
I shared on my facebook page and a friend said that her dad had tried to catch a loose Collie at Kingsdyke Brick Pits in Whittlesey yesterday but it was scared off. I really hope someone is able to find her.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Bumped due to this sighting.
Sammie
Someone phoned in with a sighting last Saturday which would have been the 18/10 in Whittlesey at 3am.
This is between Thorney and Ramsey mereside.
lab
That should have read 'many'.
lab
Hope Ariel is sighted soon. So may people are worried about her.
duffs54
That sounds like a long way to go with no sightings of her
dawnie1972
Just to avoid any confusion, have seen Thorney being described as Lincolnshire, its not its Cambridgeshire on the north border of Peterborough. If the dog has been seen in Ramsey St Marys she's running in a vertical line going south from Thorney, through Whittlesey and onto Ramsey St Marys
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
The last possible sighting of Ariel was on the 17th of October at Ramsey St Mary, PE26.
pixies peeps
Probably not connected with Ariel but there is a post on doglost facebook about the sighting of a deceased border collie seen on M6 south of stafford services (Iam only crossposting) I understand the Polices have been informed.

Any news on this girlie x
Mollychops
Ariel is featured in todays Countrymans Weekly, Good luck !
Paw
Plane crash was 20 miles by road from Thorney so cross-country could be considerably less - I'm sure the noise would have carried (particularly to dog's ears) and be quite frightening to an already scared dog.
Debz
The plane crash was miles from where she was lost
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Yes the trap was set and being monitored but the hunt was in the the area and Ariel wasn't seen for a few days....
This is the first possible sighting of her since then, and we are not 100% it was her seen today.
Paw
If it was the farmer's collie that was seen, maybe Ariel will follow if there's no-one with it. I was hoping that the lack of news was because a trap had been set and being monitored and as per Helen's previous post people need to keep away then - difficult as it may be when you really want to help. I was also worried that the plane crash near Spalding last week may have frightened her further away.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Apparently the farmer does own a Collie so could well be that one that was seen, however somebody in the area will be taking a look....
Teddys Mum - Area Volunteer, West London
So pleased she is staying in the same place. Good luck with the trap. I hope she is home soon. So wet and cold for her now.(My two BC's came from Many tears)

Posted on DL Cambridge facebook group.....Just seen what looked like a black and white border collie run across the field Thorney, old knarr fen drove
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Ariel has been in the area of Thorney Dyke a few times this week, hopefully a trap will be set in the next day or 2, if people could keep away from the area she has been seen in so she isn't spooked and moves on.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Posted on facebook..... Ariel has been spotted at Crow Tree Farm on Thorney Dyke
Kazzie
We have to been looking out for Ariel.Iv shared her to missing peterborough facebook page as the more people that look out for her,the more chance she will been seen and sightings can be reported. I hope she settles in one place so she can be trapped and can start her new life.Stay safe Ariel.x
Paw
I know Many Tears is based in Wales but was she being fostered somewhere else and trying to find her way back there? She just seems to be heading south, rather than the triangle that they often do. We kept all eyes open on Friday when driving through that area but saw nothing unfortunately, and didn't have time to stop and help. Not very nice either for Ariel or for searchers now the weather has changed but she may shelter from the rain and therefore slow down a little bit. Really hope someone can entice her to them to be caught soon before she gets too close to any major roads.
Gino
she has now moved to a area near kings dyke Whittlesey Cambs

I have shared with Doglost FB page & Twitter. Hope Ariel is safely back home soon. x

Bumped due to this latest sighting.
Katej
She was spotted at approx 3.30 on the 5/10 in fields down Thorney Dyke. Further sighting was made by a farmer in his plane at approx 5.30 pm on the bank of the river . I saw her at approx 6.30 pm again alongside the river heading away from the Dog in Doublet pub (river on right, Thorney Dyke on left). Sue is aware and going to walk this stretch today. It was reported that she was limping but I didn't see this. I also did not see a lead attached
snorky
Shorty Sue - It might be beneficial to make a note on here of when and where Ariel was last spotted, as on the FB page you've stated, there appears to be no sign of any entries regarding Ariel.
Alison
Can be available after 4 until dark tomorrow if it helps, spent my lunch break yesterday driving around but nothing - have van, other collie and smelly sausage if it helps - I hope you find her before but I'd be happy to help - I'll keep logged if you need me.
Shorty Sue
I have noted all the sightings listed on The South Holland District Council Dog Warden Facebook page & will be arriving in the Thorney area at approx noon on Friday (tomorrow). My dog & I will be laying scent trails around areas she has been spotted in regularly as well as setting up food cashes & BBQ'ing meat early morn & eve to draw her in. I & my dog are Staying at the Newark hotel & I am quietly confident that we will eventually attract & bring her in hopefully safe & sound (though very tired from the sounds of things)I would appreciate a call on my mobile (07738051897) if there are any spottings from noon onwards on Friday (please send text before noon as I'll still be on-route & don't have hands free!)Last edited: 2014-10-02 23:40:17 by Shorty Sue

Please don't try to call, catch or approach Ariel - she's too terrified to let anyone near her, and will run faster than you can even if she's tired and weak. Just ring one of the 2 mobile numbers below to give details of where she's been seen (as soon as you can). Then whoever you call can alert the owners (Ian + Janet), Shorty Sue and Whadro (Nick + Rachel), who can all travel to the area and try to tempt her with food.

Sighted walking a long a road a Thorney at approx 10am yesterday 01/10/14, lead still attached. gentleman tried to catch but she bolted across a large field in direction of golf course (behind this field from road perspective) Looking very tired. Reported to me via my mobile, Sue

Back-up number: 07831 554947 (Nick). We're near the area where Ariel's been sighted since the 29th, and can call her new owners directly on their mobile/landline.

Have added your number to the poster...
Shorty Sue
Since I wasn't the one who informed dogs lost I don't know how to add further phone numbers. However if any one calls me on my MP 07738051897 I can pass on a message to Ariel's new owners or respond myself if I do go to scent trail / track at the week end. Sue
Paw
We will be driving along that way on Friday afternoon so will keep a lookout for her if she hasn't been found/caught before then. Hope she is home before Friday though.
lab
Hoping Ariel is found today. x
Sammie
Sue, another phone number needs to be added. I know even as a fosterer it can take me ages to get through to MT, a mobile number that can be answered quickly to ensure who ever is looking can be updated with a sighting needs to be on here, and preferably another nmber as back up.
Shorty Sue
I'm the lady who fostered Ariel for Many Tears before she was adopted & bolted on arrival at her new home. Ariel has been abused in the past so is very wary of people in general, and men in particular. Please list any sightings of her here as if she is not found by Friday I shall be driving up with my resident dog to try to track her down; she was with me for a month & grew to trust me so I have a higher chance of getting her to approach
Sammie
update seen on DL Linc fb page: "Lincs Smallpetsupplies sighted this afternoon at 3.15pm going across ploughed field at Single Sole Farm, Thorney. She still has her lead attached.."

Ariel was seen yesterday (29th of September) on Thorney golf course, she still has her lead attached, She is really scared of men, so best a woman approached her first.

Spoken to Many Tears and sent an email with all local advice and information sheets for them to forward to Ariel's foster carers.
