The Cotswold Show is at Cirencester Park (Glos) on the 7th and 8th of July and there are many BACS gundog events on both days so lots of Springers will be there, so could be well worth a visit.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lizzie if you are checking in there have been two taken into Battersea boy and girl about 2 years old - picked up in Epsom. Tassie is chipped so I'm sure they would have been in touch, but just mentioned it anyhow. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I just wondered if there had been any news about Tassie? She is just so beautiful, with those gorgeous eyes! I don't post much, but she looks so much like my boy Barney and wish you could have her home for Christmas. Ali xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry we have had no further sightings, but that area is being thoroughly monitored everyday by sister in law and most of the other parents know about the 'mystery spaniel', the school runs have turned into I spy sessions. I go that way most days myself to walk my dogs.....and ask everyone I meet to keep a lookout.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope we aren't raising false hope here, it would seem most likely that Tassie has been adopted, looked after and loved by someone who doesn't realise her story and who one day will have to take her to the vet who will scan her. But we will keep on the trail of the mystery b. & w. spaniel and make sure ! Had chat with really nice manager at the other garden centre in that area, it's a proper garden, garden centre (plants and trees) and used by a lot of local people. He has rescue greyhounds, and is very dog friendly, he has put a poster up and will ask around to try and find out if there is a similar dog 'roaming' about that belongs to someone/or not. I have also sent poster to my vet who has four practices spread around this area, with note explaining the possibility she may be around here. Don't hesitate to ring me if you get any sightings at all will you. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sister in law says dog was looking very dishevelled, but then one of mine decided to chase the heron thru' the pond in Ashtead Park (while we were searching) proving it doesn't take long for any breed to look totally filthy amd neglected ! What a quite small mini schnauzer was going to do if the heron hadn't flown away I don't know. Only left my number with lady in garden centre and particularly helpful and very nice postman, although he did say he'd pass it to other postie. No worries, I have large sons living at home happy to deal with 'funny calls'.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On the ball Jan, thank you. Hope computer is OK now? Will find some time to get that way. It strange this dog is running free unless its local. Do you have any report on its condition? Sorry Pats wasn't asking for any action just alerting you in case you were wandering in the area ! Just spoken to sister in law, hereafter known as Amanda, she came out of City of Free from the rugby field/Ashtead Park entrance, turned right, then left thru that awfuly difficult to see 'gateway',in that stretch of road before the houses in Farm Lane there was a small spaniel running around with no sign of an owner, as you know there are no pavements there and it's quite woody, if I've got that wrong Mandy let me know ! She spent most of the morning walking round there, we must have been criss crossing each other ! It's in that general area anyway. The previous report to Tassies family was at the junction of Farm Lane and Langley Vale, near the site of the new exercise track so it's not that far. There is a rugby match (starring my nephew) at City of F. tomorrow so my brother and Amanda will be there and have an excellent opportunity to 'spread the word'. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Put up posters around the area this afternoon, nice day, lots of people gardening spoke to several showed them picture and asked them to keep a look out. I suppose it's good news than nobody said "There's a dog just like that belongs to......." they all said they would keep a lookout, but hadn't seen her. I know a dog was running loose though 'cos sister in law was quite distressed about it and doesn't tell fibs ! I put my number (as well) on the poster in the garden centre but not on all of them (husband fears 'funny calls' !) So IF you do get any sightings please ring me. Obviously sister in law will keep vigilant and tell other parents at the school. Will walk my dogs in the area and take some more posters with me tomorrow.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a phone call this morning, just as I was going out, from my sister in law who had just ped her son off at school (in the area where the previous possible sighting was, which she knew nothing about) She was worried about a very bedraggled black and white spaniel she had seen running loose in the area. Tried to catch it but it's very 'countrified' round there no pavements, narrowish roads difficult to stop a car anywhere. I dashed straight there and had a good look round, didn't stop to do posters but I will print some off now and take them this afternoon. Gave really nice postman my phone number and dog losts and he will pass it on to the other postie in that area, also very nice people at garden centre in Farm Lane, they wrote down dog lost details and mine as they were all dog lovers and had had strays wander in in the past. Will take posters there as well. Went into dog groomers in Langley Vale, she still has Tassies picture displayed in the window, with a note that she may have been seen in the area. She says there is a quite similar dog she has seen being walked past her shop, though wouldn't have thought it would have been wandering on its own, asked her if she saw it again she could maybe ask the owner if it did ever wander, lets hope not. Sister in law has now gone out looking as well and she's a 'pussy cat' person, she will be able to spread the word around the school ( which is right in the middle of this area) Fingers crossed xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just driven all round that area, put up posters outside the City of Free (big private school), at the entrance to the fields where they are constructing an artificial exercise track for racehorses (lots of people working there going in and out) that is the exact point where those two roads you mention meet. I think he must have meant Farm Lane/Langley Vale Rd. Took one into the blacksmith who will mention it to customers as welland the general store which also has a cafe for walkers and the village hall. Several assorted bridal paths and then remembered that there is a dog groomers at Langley Vale. Unfortunately she doesn't open on Mondays but I put poster thru' door with a note explaining about the sighting and asking if she could ring you if she knew of any local dog that could have been mistaken for Tassie, better still if she knows of a Tassie lookalike that has just appeared in the area. If you get any more reports of sightings around here just give me a ring, I will go there immediately. I'll pm you my number just in case. Hoping for good news very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I had a phone call from a man in Epsom to say he had seen a dog that could have been Tassie running around at the Junction of Langley Vale Rd and Farmer Lane in Ashtead on Sunday late afternoon. He tried to call the dog but it ran away but did loook frightened. I am going to call the dog warden over there but hoped someone near by could keep their eyes peeled. Maybe she has run away from her captors!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The posters in Lingfield are being taken down, the posters in Smallfield too - I really think this little one is local - but cannot understand what they want - I can't believe they are so desperate to keep a speyed springer, that they will do without the reward. And, if they wanted more, they would have been in touch and said so. Still looking, lots of love Marian xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

They had my number off the posters!! I suggested a notice board for lost dogs - they were not amused - maybe the dog lost name might have more luck. They said it was health and safety. I had used drawing pins and dear Zoe (who helped so much) used a staple gun. Apparently these are dangerous . Just keep ppstering Lizzie xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How did they know it was you Marian? How miserable are they, until they loose one themselves of course. Most of us now know whos still missing and if we see one thats found we take it down, even if its not one we did. I can understand them not wanting to turn the area into a haven for illegal advertising but some compasion for dogs would be good. Maybe they could consider putting a board up specifically for dogs. Naming the local dog warden, local ranger and how to contact them and also permitting lost dog posters? Jayne I feel a letter coming on for you. lol, Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't give up hope - she is chipped and speyed, so no use to breed. I heard nothing for nearly 6 weeks and then suddenly we got our little dog home again. If she really was picked up by a car she could have gone to all sorts of places, but as it was late, I suspect the occupants were not going too far. I would certainly check dog wardens and rescue centres in Surrey Kent and Sussex (which way was the car going?) Also, have you been in contact with any traveller liaison officers? Still passing the word around - I always take posters with me when I go out - oh and I was summoned to the Forest to take my posters down too - I did tell them that I had no idea where they were as I'd put them up in a blizzard - and all the car parks looked the same. If they object so much, I do not know why they don't just remove them themselves. I have yet to meet a walker on the Forest who is anything but really interested and concerned.xxxxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So surprised that there have been no sightings at all, with so many posters up. She must have been taken in by someone. Its quite possible the id has come off, I was recently involved with a found dog. When owner showed up the id had come off, the ring had deteriorated and must have caught on something, thus the disc slipped off. Hope for some news soon. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have heard nothing. I have had to remove the posters from Ashdown Forest, and someone has been into the chemists in Lingfield again to say she was found, but they rang to check before taking down the poster. Some other shops have taken them down but say they only leave them up for 2-3 weeks. All very depressing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think we're seeing a pattern here Marian, it's all too familiar isn't it. Redhill DW - is that Lorraine? I have been to Hare @ Hounds, Red Barn, Blue Anchor, The STar, Plough, Cage, Geyhound, Wiremill, Peacock and Blindley Heath PetrolStation and cricket ground. I have been told to do the Dog @ Duck at Outwood but at the moment I am waiting for a new colour ink cartridge. I would say leave the reward as being 'cash' for her safe return. But that only my opinion. If there are any RH, TN or KT20 helpers who have not received emails can they let admin know. It could be a glitch in the system that needs looking at and if helpers don't log in daily they may not be aware. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If it stops raining, we will go out this afternoon - Suzy doesn't appreciate walks in the rain! Woldingham and Warlingham are very close to New Addington - so all those areas are good. But so are parts of Bromley and Croydon - anyone near the White Bear in Featherbed Lane? By the way admin, I have never received an e mail poster - but then, I check most days, so don't need one!!! xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think New Addington is CR but Sue maybe right that its BR as phone numbers in new Addington all start 01689 which is Orpington (BR). Godstone should be RH so if that is done that is great. Well done everyone. Jamie - can you start an email chain mail from the US? Send it to everyone you ever knew in the area even if you haven't spoken to them since you were 5 years old. Get them to email their friends and keep it going until there isn't anyone you don't know who isn't asking about Tassie. Ask them to put a poster in the back of their car so when in the area everyone sees her face. Is Godstone covered now? What about New Addington etc?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I put 2 posters up in Hever Road - a bit like a picture gallery and space at a premium. I also gave posters to the tack shop and the pet shop and a neighbour of mine who is involved with rescue dogs at RAIN - just in case she is wandering. Still handing them out to yards around Lingfield - I am glad you have done Common Road Lizzie - and I found the shopkeepers and pubs in Lingfield really helpful when I was looking for Suzy - basically, if there is a space put one up! xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lizzie don't panic too much about the vets - she's chipped so likely to get scanned if she arrives there unexpectedly (although this won't cover the angle of someone buying her and pretending that she's theirs) but concentrate on prominent road locations. Opposite the entrances/exits to petrol stations... fish and chip shops (where people queue), bus stops (queues again), delivery drivers - the local royal mail delivery office - your postman, "dodgy" pubs, post offices (queues!), milkmen who know every dog on their route, parks, at traffic lights, at road junctions, ask the local paper boy to leaflet as many houses as he can, the dole queue at the social security office, anywhere like that. Anyone else in the area - if you can do the same - and don't forget the vets when you're driving round either!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have only been to 1 vet so need to get to the others. There are not enough hours in the day!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Lizzie glad to see you on here. Don't forget to call if you need anything. The Surrey lot on here know the hotspots so do call on them for advice too, and they'll be glad to help you out. Do you have a description of the car at all?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lizzie, unfortunately all I've got to offer is emotional support as I live in Edinburgh but rest assured I am thinking about Tassie every day and check her page regularly. I have a springer myself and I completely love the breed, they are beautiful dogs. Good thing is that they all look different, have different colourings etc which makes them quite distinctive and the fact that Tassie is chipped as well I think is going to make her too hot to handle. You're doing a great job, don't give up, stay strong, keep postering and remember we're all behind you. Tassie will be in the blue soon xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I would like to thank everyone for all the help in looking for Tassie. It seemed to be such a huge task when all I really wanted to do was curl up and cry. The posters I have given out have been so well received that I will be out again tomorrow and all your help and advice is great. My son has spoken again to the person who saw the car and it was at the end of our drive, so the boys thought that they knew us and were just stopping the dog from going into the road.. if only!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I will deal with Edenbridge - have been a bit tied up today as husband is on holiday but I have sent messages to friends around Dry Hill(Dormansland ) and Dwelly Lane. We will put up posters in Edenbridge tomorrow - in the town and the usual places. Sarah, I cannot do a walk tomorrow, but Hubby and I could do the Chart - bless him, I do need to keep him on track!! Suzy sends love to everyone and I will try to ring Tassie's owner. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Wish I was still living in Warlingham & could help but unfortuantely now back in Yorkshire. Poster the stables- around Lingfield-Oxted, Godstone, there's loads of horse riders in the area. DOn't forget Golf Club at Warlingham & Selsdon Woods. She's too unique to stay missing for long- as she's tagged & chipped dont think she'll stay in hiding for long. Assume all local vets already done? Good Luck- hope to see Tassie in blue soonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have also advised to do Godstone (Sarah you know where i mean) - and Reigate areas and up towards New Addington. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good day all - Ok so I will be about this weekend (Sunday more so) and can poster the local shops around my way and try to get into Oxted. I will do Sainsburys in Warlingham on my home tomorrow and Safeways in Oxted on Friday night. Marian - are you doing Limpsfield chart? Maybe we could take a walk around there with the dogs this weekend??? Dee - you said about a car - do we have a description??? On our travels we can keep a eye out for it. Is the owner doing Edenbridge? I can try and get down there on Sunday??? Sorry for the delay - I have been doing the VAT return - but i'm back!!! Lets make Tessie to hot!!!!!! Unfortunately, you're most probably right Sherlockbones. I reckon someone must have taken her and is holding her somewhere but as has happened sooo many times on this site, if we make her too hot to handle, her finders may well give her up. Everything crossed xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

OK guys.... Tassie may well have wandered - but a black & white dog was spotted being lifted into a car very close by. She has not appeared since. Marian - can you please concentrate on the hotspots you are aware of - owner would appreciate as much help as possible - have advised on places I know of but if you can make contact it would help enormously. Sarah - are you around? Can you see if you can poster the usual areas too? We need posters in the dodgiest areas possible. The fact that Tassie is tagged and chipped but yet not a single phone call received leads me to believe she's being deliberately held somewhere - we need to find where. Did Tassie wander off, or was she stolen - important to know for where to put posters. I have loads of friends with yards in and around Lingfield, so will let them have posters. If stolen, pm me and I will share my experiences! Lovely picture and thank goodness she's chipped. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a beautiful springer! My favourite breed! Very good news that Tassie is chipped and has a collar and disc, too many go missing without. Poster like crazy, she's out there somewhere. Either someone has her and may get spooked by all the attention or she's run away and someone might see the poster and recognise her. I really hope this beautiful young girl is home safe very soon xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
