Great news that she's home safe & sound, really pleased for you. It does sound a bit odd, but as you say hopefully making her too hot to handle has done the trick.

Thank you so much for your help. Daisy has been found!
It's a bit of a mystery as she was in a barn near the back of our house, but behind a door locked by a sliding bolt. No way she could have got in and locked the door behind her from the outside. We don't know how she could have got in there other than someone has seen all the signs etc and wanted to bring her back but didn't want to say so put her in there. So I think the word spreading has done the trick.
