I am sorry i have had trouble logging on since receiving info, a few weeks ago in the lincolnshire echo there were two dogs missing in lost/found section, one was a black working entire cocker from aubourn the lady i rang said she thinks she went missing when the antiques fair was on at swinderby unfortunatly not chipped i told her about this site also said that on rescuepages there was a warning previous to fair of travellers making enquires about peoples dogs in caythorpe village. The second person i rang said his female lab had disappeared also not chipped but she had before and came back he didn't think anybody would keep her cos she was older again i mentioned this site , the cocker is on other site , Lincoln seems to be getting more frequented by travellers now. I am in south lincoln i will print out some posters.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Linda that would be great if you could ask around, you have been so helpful. Nik Doglost, I had thought of putting it to the fair organisers but I thought if the dogs had been taken by a trader, they would just not bring the dogs with them to Swinderby next time (if they still have them) if they get a whiff of knowledge we are looking. There is also the chance that a kind owner has picked them up thinking they were dumped at the fair, because that also happens. I have ran Ad's everywhere around but they could have been picked up by someone who lives further afield. Good idea about running a story, I know the Lincolnshire Echo staff quite well, thanks to all the pet detectives out there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bronte, have you been in contact with the local press ? Two dogs stolen, with a puppy left behind is a story they should run with. Have you been in contact with the police for a crime number ? You should also get hold of the Fair organisers. They should have a record of everyone who pre-booked a pitch. Try to persuade them to include a poster in their next mailing. You could also try the news editor of the Antiques Trade Gazette. Most dealers who were there would read it. If you need help with media contacts, please say. We really need photos to get the search started.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is only a long shot........If they haven't returned home before then, I am crossing everything for you......If you can get some photos of the dogs up, I can circulate them amongst my friends that also go to Swinderby and Newark. Also I could circulate them around the local vets here too. If I can be of any further help please PM me and I will do all I can. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

THANKS EVERYONE FOR HELPING ME LOOK FOR MATTY AND POLLY. I LIVE QUITE CLOSE TO THE AIRFIELD WHERE THEY HOLD SWINDERBY ANTIQUE FAIR, MOST OF THE TRADERS ARE VERY GENUINE, BUT THERE ARE MANY TRAVELLER TYPE TRADERS. I WILL GO TO THE NEXT FAIR AT THE END OF THE MONTH. POLLY HAS A PUPPY HERE CALLED KIKI AND SHE IS MISSING THEM BOTH VERY MUCH. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GOOD WISHES AND KIND THOUGHTS.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Linda. It's a good few years since I've been there, but you're right they are probably dealers of dubious origin there ! Newark is a huge site to cover, but it might be worth the owners checking this weekend and talking to the people who do security for DMG Fairs. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nik it is just a suggestion, and I hope to god I am wrong, but I attend many of the Antiques fairs at Swinderby and Newark, which because both fairs are so close together atracts many travellers from Ireland, and unfortunately it's not the first time dogs have gone missing in the Swinderby and surrounding area when the fair has taken place. Did these dogs actually go missing from RAF Swinderby or is this a suggestion that these huge antique fairs might be harbouring thieves ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I do hope Matty is home soon, it could be a coinsidence, but Swinderby Antiques fair was held on 4/5 April then moved onto Newark & Notts Showground 6/8 April The next fair at Swinderby is 30/31 May, and moves onto Newark 1/3 May it might just be worth paying them a visit next time if Matty and & Polly are not home before then....but lets hope they are.
