Josephine, thanks for the thought. Unfortunately Star would get in a car - she is quite a timid dog. I'm just waiting for someone to take her to a vet .....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cant help wondering if both our beautiful BC girls have been picked up on the M11 and taken much further affield, it sounds like Star was almost as close to it as Poppy (10/10/05). Would she get in a car? Of course London and Cambridge are the obvious destinations, but maybe they're far further North or South and we should extend our poster area. Just a thought-sounds like you're doing your very best for her, good luck! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Stephanie thanks for PM and posting on here.I know the site you mean near Milton. It's highly visible from the A14 and we drive past there a lot. I always look when passing but never seem to see any dogs wondering or tied up on Site though.Plenty of ponies and horses in field next to it always.Like you,we are all still looking for Star and will never give up.Star is chipped which reminded me of a stolen Staffie dog called Ice who was re-united after 2 years missing thanks to his chip .Owner couldn't believe it at first ! See his story on Doglost in the blue section on 2/8/2005.JxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the support guys. Nic in answer to your question, sadly yes I did call the dustbin & recycling people, environmental health & the highways agency. All to no avail which is what makes me think someone has her. I'm remailing vets & shelters as a matter of routine on the basis that at some stage whoever has her will take her in for jabs & hopefully she will be recognised. As for travellers in the area ... when are there not? I keep an eye on the site near Milton but then again she would not be a lot of use to them, it's not as if she were a lurcher.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's a section of road I used to use a lot Stephanie, so I know just how busy it is. From what you have said, I am inclined to think that she was taken out of the area. That being the case, you need to target much further afield, but perhaps starting with the areas where the M11, A11 and A14 go. I hate to ask this, but did you contact the Highways Agency and their contractors for the area ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Re Posters: Thanks for the tips. Yes all vets in a 50 mile radius, all pet shops and dog wardens, kennels etc have posters - I'm sending them every couple of months in case they have taken them down. She has also nbeen in the local papers for Cambridgeshire & Essex. Also the bin men, postman & milkman all have her poster just in case they sight something similar during their rounds. No joy as yet. Each time I see a new dog home or site I send them the poster too, just in case.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Nik, Re Sightings: Absolutely none ... which is odd. we live in a small village near the M11 / A11 junction, only 350 people & everyone knows everyone else's dog. As does the postman / milkman / bin men etc. When she went missing first of all I checked the entire village - nothing & no one who had seen her which is V.odd. Also walked all fields / roads / the railway / woods etc looking for her body or if she had been caught in a snare - nothing, spoke to the farmers & game keepers (there are sheep & deer about) in case she had been shot - nothing. She's such a friendly dog & everyone loves her so it's strange no one saw her at all. She's a real people person so would be most likely to have gone to a neighbour, but nothing. I even tried the local transport cafes in case some truck driver had picked her up - nothing. Everyone has a picture though & is still on the lookout. Fingers crossed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nik - I have PM Stephanie regarding your message , good idea thanks. Also to tell her about the Collie Cross bitch stray at Rosedene that is in green section dated yesterday. The only thing that doesn't match up is that Stray isn't chipped but as we know , the older chips can 'migrate'. There is no photo of stray unfortunately yet.I have phoned her as I write this and she will check out Stray and post here .Jx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope Star not too far from her return home. These found Collies couldnt have been my Poppy I suppose-lots of brown on? She has brown tinge behind ears and hind legs.Pic's on 10.10.05. Have you had many poss sightings? She looks so loving and you clearly all love her as much as I love mine, I really hope you find her, safe and well and soon! Agree better a 1000 disappointments than miss a vital clue! x x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Stephanie I totally understand - leave no stone unturned.I would be the same if it were my Dog as disappointing as it may be sometimes. I'm so sorry that neither Dogs were Star though. Thanks for letting us know and for the extra info - it all helps.Rescue Dogs usually have quite a story to tell - if only they could talk.I have put a Poster of her in my Car and spread the word around here. The search continues and we all really want her to be found.Stay strong.JxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the tips - I tried both but, sadly, neither were STAR. Please keep them coming though as I'd rather go on 1000 wild goose chases than miss the opportunity of getting her back. Many thanks, Stephanie ps ... regarding her disappearance: we were having building work done & a large window got broken, she took one look at the Glazier (who did look a bit swarthy & had a beard) & was gone ... I thought to the end of the garden which is quite large, but sadly it seems somewhat further. She is very loving but has a fear of men with beards and/or caps and boys in red football strips. She was a rescue dog when we got her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have phoned Owner (Simon)and he has explained that Star definately escaped from their Garden unfortunately. They contacted Police , Rescue Centres and Dog Warden etc at the time. When I saw Star's Photo I thought she looked like a rescue I'd seen recently online. So after trawling through the Sites (a lot !) that I'd visited recently I found a similar looking Dog at Dogstrust in their West Calder Branch.A long shot I know, and it's way up North but both Dogs do look similar. So Owner is going to check it out just to be sure.He has Internet access so he will look at this Dog first online.I then remembered the Dog reported here on the green section (Thanks Hannah!) so phoned them back and spoke to Stephanie this time. She has the details and will ring them as more info needed - no photo provided for this Dog in green section. They will contact me to let me know the outcome and I will post here.I have asked them to see Star's Page here and explained thay can use the Poster to remind whom they contacted - may jog someone's memory.Star is chipped but as we all know chips can move and not be detected at first.Tags can come off collars too so we haven't ruled those 2 dogs that they will check out.Any other help is much appreciated so thanks to all local helpers postering and to Bugs - much appreciated.Owners said they are so grateful for our support - they sound lovely and miss her a lot. Fingers crossed.JxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
