Does anyone know if there is a possibility of getting a clearer pic of this dog at all please? I have a female who is now 7-8 with a dodgy history I have been searching this site as it is a possibility she was stolen as she has never been registered anywhere and was only microchipped last year after being sold on but has since been sold on twice more! I now have her and she happy but would dearly love to make sure she isn't someone's beloved baby they have been searching for!

Unchipped black cocker bitch just picked up in Louth. Worth the owners taking a look IMO http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=39385

Have talked with owner who didn't hear from the mystery person so I think we can say red herring. But the Cambrian News are about to include Elsa in an article to go in all editions together with details of 3 dogs stolen together from a town further down the coast last week. We used to have relatively little dog theft round here but we now have a serious problem :( It does indicate that we should be looking further afield for Elsa as well as locally. Such a shame - hope there is good news soon anyway XX Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry folks, but I think this one may have been a red herring, possibly a similar dog. Person who called in didn't leave number with Doglost. I had a very wet and windy time out looking for her on the beach but no luck. I am going to check with owner today to see if she has heard anything. If the person called only Doglost and not owner I will be inclined to think hoax :(Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is an article in the Tivyside local paper today. Some inaccuracies and they got this site address up but not the owner's number, and got the pup as 4 months when she is nearly 6 - but thanks Tivyside for publishing the item, and a request for people in the area to look out for her. They did get the very important fact that she has probably sold on to innocent people, so hopefully anyone who has just bought a black cocker pup in the pub will be having a think! Particularly as they included my description of the devastating effects on owners of having a dog stolen. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a limit to what you can do to enhance a pic of a hairy black dog, but have sent the office an improved version of photo done by my partner.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks shellyc, Doglost has sent out emails to people in the area but without the pic as we didn't have it at the time. If there is anyone who can do the enhancement please contact Doglost asap. Rescues centres in immediate area have been contacted but we need to get it to all the S Wales ones, I've done some of them. I don't actually think we will find her in one (but you never know) as I would guess she is in someone's home and is likely to surface at vet, groomer or training class. Articles about the theft and about dog theft in general will be in the local papers next week.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Baileysmom, thanks very much. Jaspbenswood, those places are not near Aberaeron but even so, please alert your contacts as she may have been taken there - who knows? We know the thief has a car. At the moment we have nothing but are doing all the standard groundwork in the hope that something may turn up. Elsa was taken from under the noses of her people. A car pulled up and drew away and Elsa was gone. The thief must have crawled very low to snatch her. She was drinking water from her bowl beside the car and he must have gone round the back of the car below bumper level as the doors and back were all open.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

And the two main local newspapers are willing to do items. One also wants to interview me about the general dog theft situation. All due to my pal Kathy who has been very busy this afternoon, bless her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This one is local to me and looks like an opportunistic theft. Elsa may well have been sold on to an innocent person. She did have a tag but we assume the thieves will have removed it. She was due to be chipped the next week. I am waiting to hear back from owner as to whether she is docked or not. We are notifying grooming parlours. Please can any helpers who belong to cocker spaniel or general spaniel forums crosspost details -thanks.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
