- So sad, poor Dixie, R.I.P. until reunited with your family again. I have a six foot fence around my garden and a wire frame over my pond so this would not happen to my little jack russell, i learnt my lesson when my elderly dog fell in when going out for her last wee of the night, thought she was taking her time out there, and my staff cross was then barking, luckily i put two and two together and rushed down the garden with a torch and managed to get her out.It was winter time and i slept on the floor with her in front of the fire all night. Thankfully she was okay. People do not realize how these things can happen so easily,try to leave a way for animals to get out, 'cos it happens to hedgehogs too!!
