Really sorry there has been no news of Alfie and Benjie. I wondered if you had placed an ad in Countrymans Weekly at all, they do a postcard sized ad for about ?50.00 with lots of words, might be worth a try as the shooting community may have unwittingly bought one or both of your boys. Hi. Thanks for your kind messages. I too have had computer problems. I have been checking messages but have been too depressed to post anything. The possible sighting turned out to be a false alarm so it's been a very dark time. Thanks for the tip about the lab at NW lab Rescue - unfortunatley it's not mine. I continue to check with rescue centres etc but other than that I am at a loss to know what to do at this last stage. I still pray for their safe return but feel it's unlikely. Thanks again to everyone for their help. SarahLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi I know you've seen the Preston RSPCA labs, but have you checked lab rescue N.W apparently they had a lab handed in on 18/5/06 found at Bamber Bridge in Preston, sorry I don't know Lancs, but is that close to you ? The contact no. is Glenys on 01257 452500. They estimate the age of dog to be around 2. Don't get your hopes too high but I'm crossing everything that it might be your dog (golden colour). We're all praying for a great reunion. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sarah, just wanted to say that I think writing to Paul O'Grady was a brilliant idea and I hope he takes it on, especially as so many missing dogs are stolen. I think a slot on prime TV will not only make the general public more aware of what is going on out there but will really make dogs too hot to handle and get them back to their rightful owners. I am sorry the local papers are not being very co-operative, have you tried the local radio stations? Its just that I have read on another thread that a dog was successfully reunited that way. Good luck, I really do hope you find Benjy and Alfie soon. Barbara.xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Roz. Thanks for your message - I do appreciate your concern. I guess I do need to keep plugging away. I don't know the area myself as we had only moved into this area 6 weeks before the dogs went missing. I will keep plugging away. I am checking the local kennels and ringing the other ones further away. Take care. Sarah xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm sure you're already doing this but keep checking the local rescue centres because unless you go there in person you don't really know for sure - communication does break down. If two labs fitting their description were spotted a while back then it is fairly likely it was them and they are just completely lost - I suppose you just need to keep going back to the place they were sighted. I'm just trying to think of suggestions as I type but as I'm so far away I really don't know the area. I completely understand how you feel and I'm longing to see these two safely in the blue very soon Rx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Roz and Vic for your support - I really appreciate it. I can't even put into words how awful I feel. I feel quite helpless which is the worse thing. The local papers here are not being cooperative at all but I don't know what I can do about that. I wrote to Paul O'Grady to put on a slot about missing dogs - shows how desperate I am! Thanks again. That must be the worst thing for someone to give you hope that your babies have been found and getting your hopes up to find out it isn't them! Someone must have taken them in - I can't believe that they wouldn't have gone to police to report them found though! How's the media coverage going? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have you rung Petmedics on 0161-794-4999 they are a 24 hour Animal Hospital covering all of Greater Manchester. I am an ambulance driver for them and regularly pick up injured strays . A record of casulaties is kept at the surgery so give them a ring. Hope you find them soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Alfie + Benji's Mum, I am so very sorry for you they are such beautiful boys. I only wish I lived nearer to help you search. My advise would be plaster the area (at least up to 10 mile radius) with posters, I'm sure you already have some up but perhaps cover a wider area including pubs.shops, post offices, give one to your postman plus an extra for him to put up at the local sorting office. Also contact your local radio station and put ads in all your local papers. Check out all local dog homes they may have slipped the net by straying into a different area and been taken in. I helped re-unite a lab in my area last month - she was out for 12 nights in what was the coldest spell this winter -temps every night but she was found 10 miles away, fit and healthy just very hungry!! she was found by someone whom had seen one of our posters. Good luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just poster everywhere and try to get some media for these two - I think the fact that they are borthers and disappeared together will make it more interesting for the press/local radio but I'm sure Dog lost will advise you on this - I understand Nik is the media expert. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this - it's so distressing but someone must have seen something as two lovely dogs like these two are so distinctive. I wish you all the best and pray you find them safely very soon Rxxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks to all for kind messages at this distressing time . Polly - thanks for your help. I have notified police/dog warden in Rossendale and Todmorden. I have also put an advert in the Rossendale Free Press. Alfie and Benjy were last seen heading down Burnley Road towards Weir on Tuesday but no sightings since. Any further advice or suggestions welcome. Sophielee - hope you find your puppy soon. It's an awful thing to be going through.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
