It's a bit of a long shot but a yellow male lab with a cataract in one eye was found in Hertfordshire sleeping outside a stable https://www.facebook.com/236374673184634/photos/a.237374426417992.1073741829.236374673184634/408279342660832/?type=1&theater

I don't know if anybody saw it last night but Jack and Hamish were featured on ITV on the local news. ITV were doing an article about stolen dogs and the increase in numbers of this and wanted to use Jack and Hamish as a case study. I hope our story highlights this horrible crime and that it helps to make owners more aware of the lengths people will go to, to steal dogs. Jack and Hamish you are famous and we love you to bits, no matter where you are! xx
jamish
Our local newspaper, the Teesdale Mercury who ran a story last September about Jack and Hamish are printing a follow up story this week. We have our fingers crossed that this as well as the increase in the reward may bring some news. Here's hoping! xx
Splopjam
I'm so sorry - I don't live near you, but I'm always looking, hopefully, to see that you've found your lovely boys. Think of you often x
jamish
It is a year today since the boys went missing. We went up to Appleby Gypsy Fair yesterday with some A3 posters and put these in the show ground, in the car parks, in the local pub, the local convenience store and the fish and chip shop. We believe it was people involved in this fair who took them last year. The reward now stands at £10,000 so we are hoping that this gets people talking. We will never give up. This is a very sad day today for the whole family. x
jamish
Hi as per our text messages and the pictures you sent through I am sure this is neither jack nor hamish. He looks lovely though and very happy. It is coming up to a year now next week since they went missing. We have had some more posters made and the reward now stands at £10,000 for their safe return. We live in hope that this will bring some news xx
Aimzh
Hi jamish were your dogs neutered please and how old and do you have anymore photos? I found a dog in Hartlepool in August and we have had him ever since. No sign of an owner and someone suggested looking further as dogs can travel a great distance. I have a male who was in a bad shape when we found him, he had patches of fur missing and very long nails and looked like he hadn't been fed for weeks. It's a long shot but I would hate not to check and you be left in the dark about your precious dogs Last edited: 2014-05-27 10:46:56 by Aimzh

No news at all, very sadly we have never had a positive sighting of either of them. We have a 'missing advert' in our local paper which we have put in every week since they went missing, all to no avail. We will never give up on them, they are too precious for that, we are still doing all we can to find them x

Any news ?

Hi thank you for this, have checked but there is an update to say he has been reunited with his owner as has his sister. Come on boys where are you, we want you home safe xx

Hi, might be worth checking Brighton Doglost. Two labs spotted in Eastbourne today - one very nervous and ran away, the other is now safe with a Labrador Rescue foster carer.
jamish
Hi thanks, we had already checked and this is a female unfortunately, still hoping our boys are together. xx
Sarah
In at Deerness - don't know anything about this one or whether male or female I'm afraid but just thought I would post on here for you to check http://www.doglost.co.uk/poster.php?dogId=63878#.Uul7H_l_s2t

We have checked and these two labs are father and son, they have been handed in as their owner has sadly passed away. Still no news or sightings of Jack and Hamish yet. Our search continues though, we will find them yet! xxx

Sorry it wasn't Jack. Let's keep on searching.

We have just returned home from seeing this lovely dog, it has been another long heartbreaking day in our search for jack and hamish. Very sadly it wasn't jack but he was a very close match! I was able to meet Amanda from k9 rehoming who has a heart of gold and also the foster mum for this dog. It gives us some comfort to know there are genuine people out there and everyone is trying to help.
I left some posters with them which they are going to distribute around the Kent area, we will do everything we can to find them. Thank u to everyone for their continued support in our quest!! x

Please share or put up some of his poster again, he's got to be somewhere and we won't stop until we find him. xx

Jacks owners think the dog in rescue who is also blind in his right eye and suffers from epilepsy could very well be Jack !!! They are going to see him so everything crossed that this is Jack !! How wonderful it would be if it is him xxx Last edited: 2013-11-05 18:15:28 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

I have been contacted by a rescue in Kent who take dogs in via the warden. They have a dog in their foster care, we think he may be a match for Jack and has a cloudy eye.

I have contacted Battersea where the dog was taken but he was reunited with his owner last night. It appears he had slipped his collar whilst on a walk. It was certainly worth following up though, just in case. xxx

Hi. Have you seen the lab that was found yesterday in Kent? Would that be too far? He looks similar to your darker lab. Worth taking a look x

I have been to see these two lovely dogs but unfortunately the white one definitely wasn't Jack as he wasn't blind in his right eye and he turned out to be chipped. The golden one had characteristics very similar to Hamish and on checking him he wasn't chipped! (Jack and Hamish aren't chipped). As things stand at the moment the kennels are trying to locate the owner of the chipped dog. We await further news on that but our search still continues for both Jack and Hamish. Thank you to everyone for their continued support. xxx

Any further updates please? I check on these 2 daily

Thanks Ashmark !
Jack and Hamish vanished from their owners property and at first it was thought they had wandered off on their own after rabbits etc. however the police informed their owners that on the day they vanished there had been several thefts in the local area (including stolen dogs ) and also a vehicle was dumped and burnt out. In view of this it is thought that the same people may have picked up Jack and Hamish.
The dog wardens for both the nearest districts have been notified and the stray kennels for both areas checked. Their owners have already had some media coverage but will be seeking to get as much coverage for their boys as they possibly can to raise maximum public awareness .Jack and Hamish are brothers and were both wearing leather collars on the day they went missing. Jack has a cloudy right eye and also suffers from epileptic fits. Hamish is is darker in colour .
Please look out for these dogs in your area . Hoping they are found very soon x Last edited: 2013-06-16 21:35:53 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

Sorry to see that JACK AND HAMISH STILL MISSING is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (53638)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
