Can't think that it would be too long for somebody to rehome these beautiful looking Lurchers. So wished I had a bigger house! Good luck xxLast edited: 2013-04-05 19:44:25 by ClaireC

Lurcher dogs stolen in Carlisle

Last updated at 12:16, Monday, 02 November 2009

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pair of lurcher dogs were stolen from their owner in the Harraby area of Carlisle.

The owner was on Whinsmoor Drive and had been intending to sell one of the two blue-merl coloured animals – one dog and one bitch – when the offender made off with both the dogs without paying.

They were taken between 12.10am and 12.20am on Wednesday, October 21.

The suspect is described as a white male in his early to mid 20s, of medium build and about 6ft tall. He had cropped, shaven black hair with a tribal design on the sides and was wearing a blue hoodie.

He spoke with a north-east accent and may be from the Sunderland area. He was driving a gold Subaru Forester – registration T707 ACU – which was involved in a fail-to-stop accident in Warwick-on-Eden about 10 minutes later.

Police believe that the suspect may have been in contact with other lurcher owners, claiming to be interested in purchasing dogs.

Anyone who has information about either the theft or the accident is asked to contact police on 0845 33 00 247.

Sorry I can't open the link to the stolen Lurchers. These 2 aren't Hancock dogs as they are normally tattooed and Topsy and Tim aren´t. I expect there will be an owner found tomorrow as the pups are in good condition. If not we will be able to home them easily.
Lurcher SOS
The Merle ones are often referred to as Hancock lurchers after the man who breeds them.....
Nickydog has put it on our forum and I will put it on our rescues fb page too.Last edited: 2013-03-24 10:06:11 by Lurcher SOS

Hi Maisies Mum copied from a Dogwatch Alert. Some of the other stolen pets were also seen with a Silver Suburu around at the time.

Three men in a Gold Subaru Forrester VRN X---XAF with 3 male occupants drove into the property. This is almost certainly the same vehicle that stole a Lakeland Terrier at Fawley on 1 March: see Dogwatch 894. Police were informed: URN 11660203

I read the article Lynn mentioned. A gold Subaru forester was involved. Wasn't a gold Subaru forester involved in more recent dog thefts in the RG 10 area? Wasn't sure if it was the Plummer terriers but around that time? Also rammed a gate in a theft to get away. Might be completely wrong but sounded very familiar.

Is anybody going to phone the tel number in the newspaper article to see if these are the stolen pair?
DogLostGlynafon
Perhaps bred from the stolen pair? Worth asking Lurcher people how common are merle lurchers?
Shereen
Oh Lynne well spotted!....such a shame there isn't a photo with the article!...ive never seen one like these surely they cant be that common?
Lynne
Are these dogs definitely young? I just found this article: http://www.nwemail.co.uk/lurcher-dogs-stolen-in-carlisle-1.631161?referrerPath=news_2_1692
