Have advised owner to poster the Clapham Common area as my hubby saw a dog very, very similar today with a young lady outside Sainsburys there. He wanted to look at the poster as he wasn't sure. If there is anyone in that area, could you poster please. Thanks. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks D for Dog. I found your site the other day and have added it to my favourites. I am still doing what I can for this little fella but really wish the owners would do a bit more. Thanks for the support. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi, im bobbys mum, so sorry to hear about little spike, im really sorry to say that he is not one of the jack russels that i have seen as none of them are black and white, Dee has given you excellent advice, keep the postering up, it only takes the right person to see one at the right time, please feel free to contact me if there is anything i could help you with, some missing dogs remain quite local, others can end up miles away so i will emaill poster of local vets and rescues in my area and herts. Most rescues forward them and the process is contintued... i wish you the very best of luck in your search, stay determined..patsy xx come home soon little man xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sue, that's absolutely fine. However, they are going to want the owner's details and the extact spot Spike went missing. Emphasise Xmas, devasted owner, other pining pets or children.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sue you haven't done anything wrong - it's not unusual for there not to be any information yet - all it means is that the right poster hasn't got to the right person in the right place - YET. It's only a matter of time before it does. Someone somewhere knows something - and it's a case of locating/persuading them to give out a hint of where Spike has been seen. Usually a neighbour notices a new dog appearing in a garden, or someone who has bought one realises that they bought him in odd circumstances or someone walking notices an unusual new dog in the park. Keep postering until SW12 becomes Spike's Town with a poster everywhere you turn.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nik. I have spoke to Susan and advised her to ring the South London Press today but in the meantime I have e mailed them with an outline to the story stressing how great it would be for Spike to be reunited for Christmas. There has not been any info on this boy as yet. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I don't know. Going out postering again today. Will be visiting pubs as Dee suggested. I am printing out these posts to give to Susan so that she can see what has been suggested. Thanks guys for your support. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sue. You're doing everything just fine. The key is too keep postering - there really isn't a point where postering should stop - keep checking where posters have already gone up - reposter if they have been removed - note if anyone is actually taking a poster shortly after it's been put up - there could be a reason why. Keep calling the police and battersea, also try going a little further out in say a 10 mile radius to other stray pounds, battersea doesn't take them all contrary to popular belief. Poster other areas where people are likely to stand for periods of time - bus stops (opposite is usually better than on the stop as the bus companies sometimes remove) - on buses - at traffic lights - in fish and chip shops. The local sorting office is a priority - every postman goes there and will know a new dog on his patch - especially an unusually marked one like Spike. There is no note of a reward - we don't encourage reward paying - but if there is one available it should be stated - it does encourage some people to call. Also try local pubs in a radius of the area Spike went missing in - each and every one - if he's been picked up he'll have been sold on quickly and they are good places to sell dogs in. Above all, keep going, you're doing everything you can - and don't worry about calling if you need help - it's a stressful thing to go through even when you aren't the owner. I'm on 07702 862937.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Are there any local helpers out there please. If you are. could you post where you are postering. Thanks. Can anybody out there give me some advice. Myself and The owner have postered the common, Balham sorting office, sainsburys and other various shops. The Big Issue sellers are also giving posters out. A poster is going into the station. Allthe relevant people have been informed. Vets, dog wardens, police, Battersea. What else should we be doing? I feel like I have been thrown in the deep end and am drowning. I have never had a dog go missing so close to home. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE. Thanks . Sorry I am waffling but I feel a bit overwhelmed with it. Sue Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jayne. Nik, it is S. L. Press. I will ring Susan today and tell her. Her son will be back from boarding school tomorrow. I have postered on the common. I managed to get about 10 posters before my printer started going peculiar. I will try again later today. Sitting here with very inky fingers still from yesterday.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please don't give up hope. I don't want to make anyone envious, as I was reunited with my dogs today. I received several false sightings, but they were nowhere near where they were stolen from, yet vigilance and networking of everyone across the country has led to a happy ending - even without chips, (they are going to be chipped first thing). Good luck with your search for Spike, I sincerely hope he'll be home for Christmas.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for that info Sue. It does sound as though Spike was picked up. I can't remember offhand whether this is South London Press or Guardian territory. Owner needs to get this story to them on Tuesday, if Spike hasn't turned up by then.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Hannah for crossposting. Spike is actually the lady's sons dog. He got him on his 11th birthday and he is now 16 and loves Spike, as do the rest of the family. Owners contact number is actually 020 8772 0252. Any help or advice on this would be gratefully received.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sory Nik didn't see posting until after I put the last one on. The owner was putting the other dogs lead on and Spike went up a bit that goes along the playground, as he would normally do while he was waiting. His owner heard a yelp and then couldn't find him. By this time it was dark and she couldn't see well. There were some not so nice people in the playground at the time. She has looked since and so have a lot of the walkers on the common but there has been no sign up to yet. When I get a picture I will take into the youth club in the playground as I know the woman who runs it. I will put another poster with it saying that if any of the kids know anything they can talk to the youth leader in confidence and she will ring me. Sorry if I am waffling but unless you know the area it's difficult to explain. She feels that he was picked up and taken. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I will be working on this one. Tooting common is SW12, SW2, SW16 & SW17 not SW19. I have spoken to the owner and she has started postering. As soon as picture is on site, I will start too. Spike actually went missing in the SW12 part of the common. I also have a different phone number. I will ring the owner later to find out why this number appears. Come on Spike, do your Houdini act and come home.xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
