Please could you ask all owners of Akitas lost in the Yorkshire area to contact Hudersfield pound 01484 426407 i have been contacted every week over the past 6weeks with Akitas in there, unfortunatly i can not get someone in there every week to get photos of the dogs, and it is possible that some of the missing dogs have gone to other rescues. Many thanks Denise Northern co-ordinator/Rep Akita Rescue and Welfare Trust. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What fantastic news. Strange that asians took her her like other posts say they don't like dogs & in my experience are terrified of them. My collie & labx had four of them up against a wall & all they did was bark. To go for a dog like an akita is odd, even I wouldn't go to an akita that didn't know me. I've experienced lots of dogs but i'm still unsure with akita's i've know nice ones, nasty ones & nice ones that have turned nasty. At the end of the days Sukie's owners have gone through nearly two month's of hell. At least she's back where she belongs & we've another happy ending for the New Year. Glad she's homeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It's very true what Cav said about the fighting. There have been cases within B'Ham that dogs have been recovered showing signs/injuries of being used to fight. Some groups don't see animals in the way we do. They are unclean to them and won't be kept in houses and homes. They are used purley as a money making tool. Again I will say 'some groups'. The sooner dog theft is taken seriously the better. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A happy ending ... finally! Well done to the vets for insisting on checking. It could have been easy for the vets to hand over a dog that someone is claiming is theirs! Welcome home Sukie!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

so pleased owner was able to come home early as i said they could have seen on here that owner was on hols and could have broken in again and looked for microchip papers if they wanted dog so bad, perhaps could keep them elsewhere at relatives maybe , also with knowing address they could always be watching when owner goes out and you can't leave dog in car and could follow when walking dog what a worry especially if their in a group. I notice there are two other akitas missing from yorkshire another in bradford and one in huddersfield, i read on another site '' bullies staffys and akitas are being taken for fighting by young muslims they dont like dogs as pets'' thats just a quote don't want to tar everybody with same brush, what a world we live in i'm sure owner will keep this babe safe again so pleased for you, have a good new year.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

since the thieves obviously knew the owner's address (and probably name aswell) and seemed to have discovered which vets she was at, I would congratulate the vets on being ultracareful in insisting on seeing the proof of chipping before handing her over. It's the police who seem to be the main problem each and every timeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jayne - I really get so mad. Owner should keep pushing the police to take action against this chap. Whats to stop him doing the exact same thing to another dog? xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just seen your post Ollies mum-yes I agree why isn't something done? Another case it appears of being"only a dog" so therefore not important.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has just collected Sukie from the vets-Sukie was delighted to see her owner-and despite being a bit thin seems well. Welcome home Sukie!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A few questions here.... If it is the asian chap trying to claim Suki - then why won't the police arrest him for a) possesion of stolen property b) possesion of affensive weapon c) threatening behaviour d) attempted assult e) criminal damage to car. Also why the hell are we bothering getting out pets chipped when we often seem to have so many problems reclaiming pets - what with data protection and some unhelpful vets. Maybe a photo of the owner could be part of the registration for chipping? How easy would that be to do and to check against? The owner could also carry a card (like a driving licence) that matches the details the chip company has - match them and BINGO!!!! Anyhu - hope Suki is back with her real and loving family pronto. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has come back early from holiday and is due to go to the vets with his microchip paperwork-a bit premature but I am sure we will have confirmation shortly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

worried about this as they know where she lives and could be monitoring latest info, if there is somebody staying at house they will be able to get paperwork to vets, and let vets know description of genuine person who delivers it. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Has anybody been able to contact owner? The microchip should have all details needed, I don't know why they need to confirm the number. Hope they don't c**k this one up. Good luck. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

why does the vet need the microchip number to confirm? I thought that the microchip confirmed ownership. If the dog is Sukie, then ownership is confirmed? What is the vet doing? This dog needs to be reunited with its ownersLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Technically Suki is stolen property, so the police should intervene to ensure that she does not pass into the wrong hands.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner has just had a call from a vets in Bolton-suki escaped her captors and ran scared into another persons car who wisely took her to a vets where they scanned her-vet however needs the microchip number to confirm and owner is on holiday! We are doing our best to assist-however someone else is trying to claim her!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner spotted Suki being walked by some Asian Guys and followed on foot and then by car-which Suki recognised and tried to pull towards-alerting the guys who then came over and kicked the car armed with baseball bats! Owner has informed police who intially were unhelpful-but under pressure have now said they will look into it. The sighting is near to Halifax College HX2 zone.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
