Just heard it sadly isn't Rico. But the dog's owner has been found, so a happy ending for the dog.
SaffySP
A male GSD has been caught in NG8. He apparently looks very like Rico. Someone's on their way now to check whether it's him! Fingers crossed everyone.

Hi Jenni, no worries. Been really busy myself. No news of Rico yet, haven't postered in a while and most have probably been taken down. Will get some more up this week and contact rescue centres etc. Thank you for looking out for him, hope he turns up x
Jenni S
Sorry, KK, not been able to post for a few days as am having problems with my computer. But Rico's photo back on and all seems fine in that respect. Am still looking out for Rico whenever I can get over to that area. Do hope there's some positive news soon.
KK
Hi bullstyler, yes that's related to the same phone call. Jenni, not too sure, is it working now? I know the site was down for a couple of days but everything seems fine now x
KK
Hi bullstyler, yes that's related to the same phone call. Jenni, not too sure, is it working now? I know the site was down for a couple of days but everything seems fine now x
Jenni S
It would be good if the dog found in Ilkeston is Rico, but am still keeping an eye out for him, just in case. In the meantime, what's happened to his photo on this page and the poster?
bullstyler
Hi KK, just to let you know there is a poster in the big Tesco in Ilkeston from someone saying they have found a German Shepherd but I have a feeling that this is related to the same call you had this morning? Let me know if not though x
KK
Hey SaffySP, thank you for looking out for him, means a lot. :( just hoping for someone to come forward with some info, someone must have taken him in
SaffySP
Hi KK, just to let you know that I'm still looking out for Rico every day on my way into and out of work...just been nothing to report I'm afraid :-(Last edited: 2013-03-10 14:02:33 by SaffySP
KK
Yes Jenni it's on Robinettes Lane, will poster there too. Just had a phone call from somebody with some info of someone who had found a German Shepherd in Ilkeston last night but turned out to be someone else's :( Nice to know people are still noticing the posters and keeping a look out. Thank you Jenni, still hoping for some good news soon xLast edited: 2013-03-10 09:57:29 by KK
Jenni S
Sorry there's no more news re Rico but still keeping a look out for him. Fingers xd he'll soon be in the 'blue'.
Jenni S
Is the farm on Robinettes Lane (sorry, I don't know Cossall)? It would still be worthwhile postering there, I would think, just in case, as looking at the map it's not far out of your area.
KK
Put up a few more posters today, spoke to somebody in Cossall and he said one of the farms also own two German Shepherds, so may have well been one of those that the lady saw. But we can't be sure.
KK
No news yet, will drive up Cossall tomorrow morning again x
Lankeela
Waiting for news - hope he is soon back with you.
Jenni S
Hope this is Rico and that he's soon reunited with you KK.
Unknown
Paws, and fingers xd for a positive result.
KK
Yes just spoken to the lady, called the dog wardens and they are heading that way and will speak to the farmers there too. Thank you Jenni, hope this is Rico, the dog looked well and healthy too which is good to know.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
A lady has rung in to say she has spotted a GSD straying the last few days around Robinettes lane, Cossall. She has left a message on owners phone.
Jenni S
Still keeping an eye out for Rico. Hoping and praying for a sighting soon, and his eventual return home.
KK
Thank you Zooberoo, great ideas :) will get all that sorted. Hopefully someone spots him soon.
Zooberoo
Hi KK the posters I put up near the park seem to have been taken down very quickly so will try and put some more up towards the end of this week in the hope that they last until the weekend.

As someone said, I managed to get a small article in the Nottingham Topper and I got a couple of calls about Holly after that. I also went to the Royal Mail depot on the Glaisdale Drive insudtrial estate and they put a poster up in their staff room.
I also can't recommend takeaways enough - I had loads of calls from people who's seen her and rang when they saw the poster in the local chippy.
I'd also recommend the shops on Bramcote Lane in Wollaton, the newsagents there put one in, the post office charge £1.50 a week and will only accept A5 and the Spar have a notice board that you can put a poster on.

I hope you get a sighting soon
KK
Yes spoken to them and also the window cleaner in our area, handed them a poster. Been so busy recently, but will be postering like mad this week
Jenni S
Just a thought: Have you spoken to local delivery people, ie. postmen, milkmen, paperboys, etc? They may be persuaded to take a poster with them and would be a position to know if anyone on their rounds had suddenly acquired a dog. Apologies if you've already done this.
KK
Thank you for the suggestions SaffySP and Jenni :) Yes will keep postering, they are still being removed, mostly around Moor Lane but it may well just be kids who mostly go to and from school/college that way. SaffySP, will definitely do that, thank you :)
Jenni S
Good ideas SaffySP. I've put up poster at my horse's livery yard; it's way out of the area so a long shot but as there have been no further local sightings for a while it's worth a go. I see there's now an extra image, which is helpful to show markings.
SaffySP
Another thought - can you see if you can get him mentioned in the local free newspaper that's delivered to every home each week? Zoobero did that with Holly to raise awareness when she wasn't getting any sightings reported. If some one has taken him in, a neighbour might spot the article and contact you.
SaffySP
As he was last seen in the Wollaton area, have you tried walking round Wollaton Park at the weekend, in case anyone's walking him there?
Just thinking, if some one has taken him in, that's an obvious place they might take him. I'll keep looking out for him on my way into and out of work!
Jenni S
I'm so sorry; you must be devastated. I think the important thing to do, in addition to keeping on checking with dog wardens, etc., is to keep postering to raise Rico's profile and make him too hot to handle. Are the posters still being removed from the same area?
KK
Still no sightings of Rico since the 27th :( don't know what else to do now. Any advice?
KK
Thank you x
SaffySP
Sorry, yes I meant Moor Lane not Mill Lane. I had a drive around the area earlier, but didn't see anything. I'll keep looking.
KK
Yep, you mean Moor Lane and Wollaton Vale? Thank you SaffySP that's very kind of you
SaffySP
Hi KK, Is that the estate between Mill Lane & Wollaton Vale? I drive to and from work along Wollaton Vale each day. Let me know if I've got the right area and I'll detour to look around the estate each day.
KK
Thank you Zooberoo, that's so kind of you :)
Zooberoo
I'll put some posters up near wollaton park for you, hopefully someone walking their dog there will keep an eye out for him. I need to finish removing Holly's posters anyway so can replace like for like :)

It's so annoying when posters get removed!
KK
I hope so too Jenni. SaffySP, yes was thinking the exact same thing. The ones that are being ripped are in the same location all the time and it's on the estate just behind my house, where Rico was last seen.
SaffySP
Hi KK, are the posters being ripped in any particular location? That sometimes happens if someone's taken a dog in and doesn't want anyone recognising them.
Jenni S
Do hope there's soon another positive sighting of Rico; it will just be the clue needed.
KK
Thank you everyone for your comments. LisaK and SaffySP, I have seen those two dogs and unfortunately not Rico, they're gorgeous dogs though. Zooberoo, so pleased about Holly being found safe and healthy! Yes was thinking the same thing, will need another positive sighting of Rico. Thank you Zooberoo, that's very kind of you. The contact numbers or photo of Rico on the posters keep being deliberately ripped off by people, which is frustrating. Not going to stop me renewing them though. I hope he comes home soon too x
SaffySP
I think this dog probably isn't Rico, but I've just seen him on the Babbington website brought in as a stray, so probably worth a look just in case
http://www.babbington-rescue.org.uk/brownie.ir?cName=dogs-f-block
Jenni S
Thank you MichelleJM and Zooberoo.
Zooberoo
Hi, I'll keep an eye out in the Wollaton area for Rico, in case he wanders over this way.

MichelleJM has posted Ray's website but until you can get Rico returning to a specific area I'm not sure he'll be able to help (I may be wrong!) When I first called him about Holly he gave me scenting advice which I think you've received from this site, to keep her in the area we knew she was in.

I hope you find him soon, I know how worried you must be. Fingers crossed and if you need any postering doing round this way let me know. x
Algernon TrustLisaP
The markings look different, but please could someone check this found dog please https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151493579604414&set=a.46688459413.72064.537019413&type=1&theater
MichelleJM
This is Ray's website http://www.raydedicoat.com/
Jenni S
Just thinking it might be helpful if someone could put you in touch with Ray, the chap who was instrumental in finding Holly. Unfortunately, I don't know him or have any contact details, but I'll post a request on Holly's site for him to get in touch with you - hope that's ok.
KK
Wow that's amazing news! So pleased for them. I was following her updates and looking out for her whenever I went towards Wollaton, knew she would be found soon as she had really positive sightings in the area. I feel optimistic too that Rico will be found. Still no positive sightings since two weeks ago, but hopefully he is still around, will be putting more posters up as a lot have been taken down. Thank you Jenni x
Jenni S
Just got back and seen the fantastic news about Holly (47108) reunited in Wollaton, not far from Bramcote, so I do feel optimistic that Rico will also soon be found safe and well, as there have been sightings in your area. I'll continue to keep a look out whenever I can get over that way. Good luck Rico and KK.
Jenni S
Sorry there's been no further news re Rico but do feel he's still safely in the area and it's only a matter of time before he's found. Fingers xd for him and KK.
KK
Thanks Jenni, had been to visit them and handed in a poster, called them just now just in case and they haven't had him brought in but they will keep an eye out and let me know. Yeah feels like he's still around hiding somewhere, he went three weeks without a sighting and was back in the local area last weekend! Will be scenting the area near home again tonight x
Jenni S
Sorry the most recent sighting wasn't Rico, but the most positive ones have all been in your area which is good. Just in case, another place to ring is Castlefield Kennels, 261 High Lane East, West Hallam - 0115 932 2763. They take in strays for the local authority. I've spoken to them in the past about a friend's lost dog and they were very helpful.
KK
May have been sighting yesterday morning near Trowell Garden Centre but when I went down there they said they also have a German Shepherd which they let loose to have a run around. Worried as there have been no reliable sightings for a week now.
KK
Called Babbington Kennels, no sign of him.
Thank you Jenni, the support is amazing and credit goes to DogLost too, amazing site x
Michelle - I have spoken to them and they said they will keep a lookout and also put up posters on Sidings Lane and Pit Lane. Thank you for keeping a lookout x
MichelleJM
Have you been to ask the men at McCann's, and the upholsterer. They would seem to be on his route over Coventry Lane. Posters over there would be an idea too, because people walk that way to get to Pit Lane, round the back of the horses fields. Think it's called Sidings Lane...
I walked all round the golf course and Moor Lane yesterday, found no sign, no dog poo etc on the golf course.
Jenni S
Keep spirits up KK, it's looking positive - so many people looking out for Rico.

Oh didn't realise you had sent the email, I have not yet received it though. Thank you, would appreciate the info on local co-ordinators. I live in Bramcote area. I have mapped out all sightings and some do seem to form triangles, some small and some big triangles.

The last sighting was him coming out from Moor Lane and crossing over Coventry Lane on Sunday morning, by the time the person who sighted him turned their car around, he was gone, so my best bet is he went into the fields across the road from where I live. There are a lot of farms there.

Yes I notified the dog warden with all recent sightings. Will call all local kennels today. Have visited Babbington kennels twice and handed in a poster. I'm going out now for another search and sticking posters wherever I can xx
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Forgot to say, you need to check in with dog warden and all local kennels/rescues because someone could hand him in and as he isn't chipped they need to know he is yours. Keep reminding them over and over. Phone twice a week to all the kennels as people do forget. Hopefully, you'll be the one to pick him up soon. Have you tried going to these areas and calling him? He may be a little scared so take it carefully and go early morning and late evening when less people around as that is quite often when they come out. Let's get this baby home! x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
KK, you are most welcome. I do not know your area but your local co-ordinators can help you further. Admin just asked me to get the info to you for quickness. Try and do what I said in the email and if you need help, call us. If any helpers are local, I am sure your support would be appreciated. Well done on renewing the posters KK, keep them going up. Try and see if the sightings form a triangle type route. Dogs usually keep to the same route, round and round. Come on Rico, time to get home now boy. xx

Thank you Kim, yes I have been out today to replace all the old posters. Thanks Lankeela, I hope he is home with us soon too x

Great news there has been sightings - keeping everything crossed he will soon be home.

Hi, as per text I am now sending you advice and scenting instructions on how to get Rico home. As you have sightings, you are half way there! You need to do the scenting in a safe area near the sighting. Make sure you have plenty of posters up so people can call you. You can do this! xLast edited: 2013-01-29 13:03:14 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
KK
Just realised why I never received info and advice sheet, my email was wrong. Has been updated now so it can now be sent along with scenting advice. Thank you
KK
Thank you will do that x
Jenni S
It's good there have been more local sightings. If you ring/email DogLost I'm sure they will give lots of good advice re scenting, which will hopefully get Rico safely back home.
KK
Just been around the neighborhood, there was another sighting of Rico yesterday morning (27/01/13) at around 10.45am on Moor Lane, Bramcote.
KK
Thank you Jenni, another phone call of a sighting on Saturday morning but they notified me too late. Seen running on the Beverley Close again. Was definitely wearing a red collar so he must be close to home now. Could I please receive some scenting advice, hopefully he returns to the same street and we can get him home soon xxLast edited: 2013-01-28 19:09:44 by KK
Jenni S
Hope it is Rico, as sighting's still in home area. Come on Rico, let yourself be caught. Good luck KK.
KK
Earlier this week sorry, she couldn't remember exactly what day- either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday but it was definitely this week early morning.
KK
Just received a phone call from a lady who is certain she saw Rico on Wychwood Drive, Trowell, Nottingham early morning. She tried to catch him but he managed to get away. So he is still in the area as he was sighted on the 24th too.
Also could this page be bumped up by any chance? Thank you
KK
Just been out to put up more posters, two people have already called to say they saw a large German Shepherd similar to Rico roaming around on his own this morning at around 8.30am on Beverley Close in Bramcote/Wollaton.
KK
UPDATE: A large German Shepherd spotted by a young girl on her way to school on Beverley Close, Bramcote, Nottingham. Not far from home, hopefully it was Rico. Going to put more posters up around that area

Received a call from a lady who was notified by the dog warden about the deceased dog on the A50 and they had searched for two hours and never found a dog but instead a large fox, somebody may have been mistaken.

Thank you Jenni, I hope so too x
Jenni S
Will continue to look out for Rico whenever I can get out that way, and still hoping and praying he's soon found safe and well.
MichelleJM
someone is on the facebook doglost page saying there is a deceased black and tan GSD on the side of the A50 near Chellaston. Sorry to pass this info on, but if it's Rico at least you'll know what has happenned to him.
KK
Wasn't him :(
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Bumped...fingers crossed...
KK
Thank you x update: just had a phone call off a lady sighting a large German Shepherd just like Rico near Westwick Street in Ilkeston again on Friday (18/01/13). He looked healthy and was playing in the snow. The lady said somebody got him into their garden and said he will call the dog warden. She is going to call back after getting more info from him.
Jenni S
Just checking in on Rico. Sorry no more sightings but still have fingers xd for him.
KK
Yeh there haven't been any sightings for just over two weeks now. Somebody may have him :( hope they return him to us. Will be putting more posters up in the area as some have been taken down. Thank you Jenni x
Jenni S
Just checking in on Rico. Sorry there's no more news, but hope there will be some good news soon. Will continue to look out for him whenever I can get over that way.
KK
That's a great idea Jenni, I will be doing that. Thank you x
Jenni S
Just a thought - tip I picked up from another page. A helper is leaving poster on dashboard when parked up - particularly helpful in area of any sightings, but I will now also leave Rico's and other dogs lost locally posters on my dashboard wherever parked. Unfortunately, I've not been able to get to Ilkeston but have emailed poster to friend who lives there. Do hope this lad's soon back home.
KK
Thank you Jenny x
Jenni S
Still keeping a lookout for Rico and hope he's soon reunited with his family. Fingers xd.
KK
Thank you Sue, appreciate the bump up too.
B30
Poster and details sent to Notts TLO in case she can keep a look out for him on her travels.
KK
Hi Rachael, yes I saw your post on facebook and went down there straight away, no sign of him though. Was he wearing a red collar?
Rachael
I think I have seen Rico this evening about 2 hours ago. I saw him on Nelson Street in Ilkeston I went after him as he ran towards the bridge inn on Awsworth road.
KK
Police informed us that the dog definitely belonged to the person in the van. Just received a phone call from somebody who saw Rico on New Years Day near Trowell Garden Centre, which is closer to home. Hopefully he's on his way back
KK
Rico may have been spotted by somebody who said a German Shepherd looking a lot like Rico followed him from the new estate of Ilkeston to the Tesco Express on Nottingham Road, in Ilkeston, around 5pm on 02/01/2013. The dog ran into Tesco and a member of staff called the vets from across the road to take him. I recieved a call later on in the evening by somebody who had seen a facebook post by the person who was followed by the dog, that Rico may have been handed in at the vets. When I got there this morning, they said no dog had been brought in, however, the vet had gone over to Tesco to get the dog yesterday evening, but as he went to take him into the vets, a van pulled up, and the dog jumped in. The person driving the van claimed to be the dogs owner and said they had been to Tesco and had accidently let the dog off the leash, which had no collar on, as a member of staff at Tesco described. If it was Rico, the collar may have come off. It's also odd as this dog had followed somebody from the new estate and was described as looking scruffy like he'd been out for days, not as if he'd only just escaped. We also have a van so Rico could have got mistaken. It seems very suspicious. Contacted the police to look at CCTV in Tesco Express. We hope to find Rico very soon xLast edited: 2013-01-03 14:01:55 by KK
KK
Yes tried that when he was around the area but he's a bit further out now where people have sighted him. Have put posters up around that area and in the local area too. Thank you xx
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Have you scented in the area of the sightings? If not too far from home, would suggest scenting from there to your front door, also get up hundreds of posters if you haven't already done so, as that really is the key to getting him home. Good luck x

Bumped due to current sightings.
KK
Rico has now been spotted by two people in Ilkeston on Westwick Street this morning. He appeared healthy which is really good to know. I hope he is home with us soon.

Thank you. I hope so too.

I have just seen yr message as I was out last night, I have just shown my bf the pic and he said it looks like the dog last night he is going to ring them on the number u left on the for sale site, and then go bac out to have another look this morn to see if it's still hangin about. He did try to get it to come with him but with having a dog of our own it was hard work and also not known if he could trust the dog with out dog. He tried to get it to go in the youth club grounds to shut it in but it wouldn't follow him in there. Poor dog. But he said it looked healthy and looked after

Will share on facebook, I have a GSD also called Rico, hope your boy is soon back home with you.

Any one lost an aslsatian dog, friendly and wearing a red collar it's runnin round woad farm and mill road area. Don't wanna see this dog get hurt

My name is Elle and I just saw this on my local Boston Facebook site. It seems strange that this dog also has a red collar. Do you think he was stolen and has escaped? The lady who placed the ad is Katrina Bagshaw. I have forwarded your appeal to her. She said she has been in touch with the dog warden and the police and they both said they can't deal with it.

This is a further commemt she has put on facebook.
Katrina Bagshaw My bf saw it wen he was walkin our dog and rang me to put it on here, but no he tried to get it in the youth centre gate and close the gate to at least keep it safe but it was haven none of it we rang the dog warden and they said nothin they can do cos there closed for Xmas. We rang police station and they said they don't deal with that kind of thingLast edited: 2012-12-22 23:11:23 by Elle Chambers

Latest sighting of Riko. he was spotted at Bramcote hills school today 21.12.12 at about 12pm.
KK
Ok thank you.

I have tried to send you an email but it says that it has temporarily failed but it will tried to be sent over the next 2 days.
KK
Thank you. He was also spotted Tuesday night in the area, so he is still around. Hopefully he has not gone too far.
JennyB
So very sorry to hear that Rico is missing from his home. If he looks like he's heading towards Collingham, we will come out looking for him. At the moment, there are a lot of shoots going on round the farmlands near us - if this is happening near the owner's home, I would politely advise owners to speak with the farmers and members of the shoots so they can keep their eye open for Rico. Please keep safe, Rico and find your way back home very soon xxx
Unknown
Owner needs to contact DW, local vets and local radio and also to poster asap. The area he was last seen is close to Bramcote Park. I think owner should contact Railtrack as the track is close by and also the Highways Agency. It may be a good idea to speak to dog walkers and also the local postman.
