Silver a copy of your poster is now in a plastic folder at my local vets surgery. Whilst in the area, this was probably your vet too. Whilst talking about you today, I didn't realise that you are a local girl, until someone remembered that you had gone missing from my area. Right, we are now on the case and want you back where you rightfully belong. We don't like our girls missing. Any one from the Midlands or North, who view this page, please keep an eye out for our missing local girl, we would like to see her reunited and in the blue zone. Silver please show yourself, you will be found. Your home is here in Somerset. We don't give up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Silver, we are searching for you, and won't turn off the heat until you are reunited with your family. Tomorrow, a copy of your poster will be in a plastic folder at my local vets surgery on a table for clients to peruse, (TA8 Somerset). People do travel and hopefully anything that we can do to bring you home has to be worh a try. Hang on in there Silver, it's been a very long time. We are having a good success rate in the South West, so please show yourself. We will get you home, we don't give up. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Re chips not showing up on scanners. I personally chipped a dog a few years ago, between her shoulders as is the norm. Once rehomed from freshfields the new owners vet could not find the chip, so they brought her into the animal rescue to scan her. We found the chip in her hind leg! it had migrated. it is always worth scanning the whole dog from top to bottom as they can move! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Englishlynn if you meant my post I was pointing out that several years ago a dog was in a pound about to be pts, described as a malamute cross, I saw the photo and it was a long haired akita, one was missing and was reunited in the nick of time. Just pointing out that there are not a lot of long coated ones about and so they thought it was a different breed. As far as we are aware re the dog in the pound there has been no mention of it being rehomed via a rescue, it was a private arrangement.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sorry if i have upset some people and yes have had a dog stolen and thanks to dogs lost was recoverd. But through reading the posts on this dog i thought it had been re homed through a rescue that thought it was another breed so there for the people who have had her now for 5yrs got her honestly, did not steel her so would have thought she was being well looked after. I f she were mine and had lived the best half of her life with someone she now loved and looked up to as there master i would prob leave her were she was knowing she was in good hands, sometimes we have to look from the dogs side of things and not our own. Jan added in her post that the people who have her have not had her long than thats a different matter altogether, i would then want her back.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Fingers crossed. I believe if you love your pet you will never give up looking. I am sure the best outcome is first to find your pet then make the decisions later. I am sure if this is Silver the right decision will be made. Stay safe Silver wherever you are darling xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

i'm dying to know if englishlyn has had a dog stolen? as many dog owners on this site have been searching for months and even years for their beloved dogs look @ bobby d reunited after 2 years his owner never gave up or lottie re-united after 10 months i would never stop looking for ella and it doesn't matter how long the dog has been gone it should go back to its rightful owner, fingers crossed it is silver and she gets to go home xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The person who has her now has not had her long and she is well known for escaping. If it was my dog would take into consideration about where she was but would do my best to get her home. There are a lot of owners on here still looking for their dog after years and would not give up. Jan xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sure it would be nice to know that silver is safe ,well and being looked after but after all this time wouldnt silver be happier were she is considering the lengh of time she has been there. If she went missing in 02 then thats a long time ago and would she not now fret for the people who have cared for her all this time?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks will get the owner to check on the scanner. The current owner has been informed and they are willing to hand her over if the DNA proves it is Silver. Jan xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have had many cases of a chip not showing up especially in dogs chipped over 6 years ago. Which would fit with this dog. Can we find out which type of scanner they used and then maybe get a different scanner in to scan the dog?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Old chips and new scanners don't always mix Jan, have seen some cases previously........!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner and son have visited Wirral and they are very sure that it is Silver they are looking into getting a DNA test done as the dog does not have a chip, but for some reason it may not show up. Jan xxx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Still had the details and picture of the found Akita in January it was picked up practically in the same location and that one was reclaimed. Sent details and picture yesterday to Wirral, to see if the same dog, copy also to Angie and SueW. Spoke to Sue and brought her up to date. Jan xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think this is the same dog found in January but looks very like Silver and not many long coated akitas about. I saw one in a pound a few years ago, described as a malamute cross, it was an akita and was reunitedLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
