I have just seen the following on Gumtree - posted 4 days ago - some distance, but might be worth checking out - I have emailed the advertiser suggestig that if the owner hasn't been found they log the details on doglost and asking whether they have informed the dog warden:

Found tan terrier male in scholes or wigan
Manchester
I have found a tanned terrier cant remember if i was in scholes or wigan. Its a male ,it look like a lakeland terrier to me.Me and my work mate saved it from nearly getting run over.I would like to trace the owner a.s.a.p Last edited: 2012-11-06 14:36:21 by skippy, Area Co-ordinator Chester

There is a dog which is at Manchester Dogs Home and is advertised on the Oldies website. I have emailed MDH with the info on Ben (I know they know about him but in case he was overlooked) I did this, as in one of the photos looks a lot like Ben. They have the found dog as being a lot older though. Is the second photo that looks very like Ben.

I looked at the photo on Salford Dog Wardens posted below and I think it is not Ben. Maybe others could look and say what they think?

Have emailed Cheshire West Dog Warden people. That is good news that Jackalee got a poster of Ben up at Manchester. I agree Ben does not look like a traditional Lakeland from the photos I have been looking at. Still you'd hope they would look at all small to medium terrier types when a person calls on the phone. Maybe the posters will bring some news? I hope so xx
DogLost VolunteerAnnieSparky
No news of little Ben yet :(

Thanks so much to NW Co-ordinator Jackalee for ringing Manchester Dogs Home :) Sadly no record of dog like Ben being brought in but they have put his poster up on their wall.

It really needs Bens family or friends to go in and check at the Dogs home in person.....always possible Ben may not be listed as a Lakeland Terrier on their records.
I only say this as I have a Lakeland who looks quite different to Ben though same size.
Hoping hes safe and found soon x

reggiemollieros
Thanks Annie between us and other DL people we can hopefully bring him home. I have posted on various pages to see if anyone is going to any of the 3 dog's homes mentioned. Leigh have been posting photos of found dogs on their website. Manc and Cheshire just put a few on theirs but will keep checking. Facebook.....well is better anyway if people come here so those that don't have it can be updated. I am sure Doglost prefer it that way too xxLast edited: 2012-09-12 17:38:41 by reggiemollieros

Hi reggiemollieros and Kelly....you are doing fantastic work :) Thanks about facebook......I'll get on it one day! I wish that too.....all these poor lost dogs :(

I'll try and email his poster to shops/businesses etc in Droylsden that I can find on internet. I've already sent to a few vets in the area.
Good luck with the postering tomorrow kelly xx
reggiemollieros
Glad you got the posters. If you need some more let me know as I can get some more ink by Thursday. I was going to post on DL NW Facebook page tomorrow see if anyone is going soon. I will also keep a check on the Oldies website in case he crops up there. I know Ben is not old but they help with dogs who are 6 plus. I wish I could will the lost dogs home.
kellyw1991
Okay everyone, I received the posters today (the postie was late, bless him) so I am off to droylsden/openshaw tomorrow to buy some plastic covers and putting them up everywhere I can. I will put one up in morrisons as that is where I saw him and at all three entrances, then I will poster up where I saw him heading and up into Droylsden as most people do their shopping there :) Can anyone else in the area help by printing more off and doing some postering too? Please do find out if anyone is going to MDH Lesley but also Leigh and Cheshire as I think some go their too. I don't know anyone with transport so I can't physically go myself or I definately would :(
reggiemollieros
Hi AnnieSparky, Kelly posted on the Doglost NW Facbook page which is how I got to know about the sighting and I shared it on all my Facebook pages and I tweeted it a few times too and I will keep on tweeting. Hopefully Kelly will have the posters by tomorrow and it will bring some news. I really hope so. p.s. I think the owners are not on Facebook either and the initial posts down below indicate a problem getting out. I will try find out if anyone is going to Manc Dogs Home in next few days. hi reggiemollieros....thats good about sorting the phone number. I looked on Manchester Dogs Home website too...I tried to send Bens poster details to them but they get so many its better if someone who knows Ben checks in person.
Just wondered whether anyone can post on the NW DogLost facebook page to help get message to owners and share info about the dog kellyw1991 saw (I'm not on F/B....sorry).
reggiemollieros
Hi AnnieSparky is OK I called Admin and they have added in an alternative phone number before I printed off the posters. I do wish I was closer as I was looking on Manchester Dogs Home website last night and they say you have to go in, that a phone call is not enough. If anyone is going in could you bear Ben in mind? p.s. and for the record I called the mobile number above this morning and it went straight to voice mail just in case anyone else is trying it. Sorry I havnt had internet access for a few days. Thats brilliant about the posters...sorry couldnt help more with that. Have emailed report of stray dog to D/W with Bens details. I remember from previous posts that owners find alot of difficulty getting out...must be very hard for them.
If this little dog is picked up, would he be taken to Manchester Dogs Home?
Its a good point about the phone number....not sure how we can check that.
reggiemollieros
Just to keep the record on here have sent some posters to Kelly.
kellyw1991
I have emailed you Lesley and I will pick up some plastic wallets today.
reggiemollieros
Skippy, I emailed Animal Wardens sadly not Ben, the found dog is a King Charles Cavalier owners on the way to collect.
reggiemollieros
Just had a thought though, if the number on the poster is not responding to your texts should I remove it from the posters I print and put just the Doglost number or is it working now?
reggiemollieros
I am down in London but if you email me your address I can print some off and post them to you. lesley.white@tiscali.co.uk you would probably get them by Wednesday if you can give me the address tomorrow. Don't post it here. is best to put them in those plastic folders which you can get from the 99p shop if you have one near you. Last edited: 2012-09-09 23:30:43 by reggiemollieros

Okay, I tried to print some posters but it seems my printer is broke :( I was thinking of writing some posters out but without a picture I am afraid it will go amiss. What else can I do? Any ideas?

I hope someone finds Ben soon, like Gracie in London those extra posters could be the ones that bring him home. I am tweeting as so far away xx
DogLost VolunteerAnnieSparky
Kelly those posters could make all the difference...you're a star :) I'll try to find out which Dog Warden covers that area unless anyone else knows?
If this dog was picked up I'm guessing he would be taken to Manchester Dogs Home?

Hopefully owner KyNico sees this too and has got the txts you and Mumstaxi sent earlier x
kellyw1991
I will get some ink tomorrow and do some posters to go up :) If the local DW could be informed that would be brilliant just incase.

Thank you Annie, I wish I could have gotten him but he was so nervous. Its not the first dog I have seen straying in the area and I only came on here to check that one wasn't missing and saw Ben. Thank you for emailing those posters too. I don't know what else I can do. I noticed Barney too :( poor things.
DogLost VolunteerAnnieSparky
Sorry I dont live close enough to help on the ground....postering would be so good. Have asked for Bens page to be bumped due to possible sighting. Hope this little dog seen is safely picked up soon. Dont know if we can inform local Dog Warden?

kellyw1991 good job there are people like you taking those dogs home.....cant understand how owners can let them roam like that. Any news on this little one which could be Ben? I have emailed his poster to a couple of vets in that area x
Theres a few little dogs lost in the same area now....also Barney 42604 :(Last edited: 2012-09-07 18:58:43 by AnnieSparky

I text the above number too but received no reply. I do not live in the close area but can help by postering if needed. The dog looked like it was well fed but he did have a limp to his back leg. I stooped low to try and coax him to me but he stopped dead and ran round me. He also didn't stick around long after that and jogged towards edge lane heading towards droylsden centre. He didn't look like he knew where he was though which is what I noticed first as I have seen dogs in the area before that were simply let out by their owners I found out after I had took them home via collar details. Poor thing did look very lost. Anything I can do to help, just let me know.

I have sent email to alert admin and Maggie & Star x

I spotted a dog similar to this in the M34/M43 area (droylsden/openshaw). He was very nervous and had a limp wandering around in the Morrisons carpark heading up Edge Lane towards droylsden centre.

Sorry to see that BEN STILL MISSING is missing.
If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held are up to date.
If you have not already done so contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, contact the Police.
Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green 'Find Any UK Vet' graphic near the top right hand side of the page under the 'latest missing dogs' photo.
A photograph of your dog is essential - if you have not already uploaded a picture, please do so by clicking on 'Update Details' above, or you can email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog, quoting the dog's DogLost ID number. You can also add comments and update your dog's status by clicking on the title bar at the top of the comments list. You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments.
You can obtain a 'MISSING' poster by clicking on 'View Poster' above. POSTERS ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Start postering now!
If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, they can be re-homed legally after 7 days, so please try to visit rescue centres to look for your dog and give them a poster. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description.
Please keep us updated by keeping your dogs page up to date and check for posts from helpers that may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings.
If your dog has been stolen please inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN) for the theft.
