Sorry that Jake has been missing all this time. My heart goes out to his owners. Someone somewhere must know where Jake is. I would also place a LOST DOG in a National newspaper too, as not everyone does social media. Has he been in the Countryman`s weekly too? If anyone has any knowledge of were Jake may be please contact one of the above numbers, or if you prefer contact Doglost. It will be treated in the strictest of confidence, and help heal some broken hearts. It breaks my heart just reading this. THANK YOU. Al.l xd.

Jake is still missing x

Around 2.45 yesterday (Thursday) afternoon brown & white collie seen running directly across middle of the field closest to the road just on the sharp right hand corner bend directly after railway bridge near Soar river between Normanton and Stanford. No people in sight anywhere that I could see and running straight across the arable field between the road and river. Running from Normanton direction towards Stanford direction. Too far from me to see specific markings other than very solid colour back and more of a sun-bleached brown than very dark and looked a little square across the top of its back like older dogs sometimes get without enough grooming. Don't like to give false hope, but equally have to mention it as it was an unexplained dog roaming and I remember Jake going missing. x

Angel29007
Theres a possibility that Jake may be following the Great Central Railway line and going between Butterwick Drive, Beaumont Leys and Loughborough. A thin collie was sighted yesterday in fields off Meadow Lane, Loughborough (not far from where the railway ends) And the day before there were numerous sightings of a dog off Butterwick Drive, Beaumont Leys (again not far from where the railway ends). Both areas are being concentrated on. If you live in either of these areas (or anywhere along Great Central Railway line) please keep your eyes open.
Snowdrop
Just reported on jakes Facebook page that there is a possible sighting in Loughborough, a very skinny collie has been sighted. Jake searchers are on the way.

Thats brilliant about the LOROS walk Ellie! Jake Searchers have been out again today searching and postering up the new areas. He may have been hiding away in one of the woods near Bradgate Park, theres a few to chose from! and its only 3.7 miles from where he was seen (according to my sat nav lol). The lady who saw him on Saturday was absoutely adamant that it was him so here's hoping. Think the lady has said that she will put food out for him in the hope he comes back x
Ellie
I have obtained permission to poster at the LOROS Paws 4 a Cause walk at Abbey Park this Sunday and will also take fliers of currently missing LE dogs. Anyone else available to help with handouts appreciated

I’ve found that it helps to print out an A4 sheet of paper cut into business-card size slips, each with brief details and your phone number on. Give them to all the local dog walkers, postmen etc. you meet. Then if someone has news when they’re out and about they don’t need to find a poster or log on to the site to contact you. Useful if there's a big search party going on. Good luck!

Update from Jakes owner on facebook: call from a lady who has just found out about Jake and she is 100% certain that on Saturday night around 5.30pm she went out of her front door and a dog was scavenging in a bin bag in her garden The dog was a brown and white collie very thin with black freckles on his nose and she saw one of his eyes were blue. She is convinced this was JAKE. This was at Butterwick Drive Beaumont Leys Nr Birstall. Not far off the railway!

My friend saw a dog on Fairmeadows Way at 5 30ish on 24/9/12. It was very scared and running around. She thought it ran in the direction of Spruce Ave, but didn't see clearly where it went. I asked her to look at Jake's doglost page and she is pretty sure it wasn't Jake. She said it had a collie type body, but a different shaped head. It was wearing a collar and I think she described it as black and white. I really wish that it was Jake as this is in the middle of a housing estate and surely someone would have seen him or perhaps been able to get him in their garden. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending
Ellie
Possible but unconfirmed sighting at 9.10 am on Sunday 23rd at Priory Pub car park, Snells Nook Lane. Also probably Forest/Nanpanton Road. A lot of people seem to be getting confused with Jakes colour - he is brown and white

Thanks CharlieChin for checking Jakes poster and also for keeping an eye open for him, much appreciated

I saw the dog on the A6 and looking at Jake's photo I really don't think it was him. There was no hint of white on its face and although he could have been dirty the dog was smaller I think. I really wish I could help more. I will keep looking out for Jake as I work around the Loughborough area and travel around. Hope he finds his way home soon.
Ellie
A collie type was seen on the 31st on the A6 Near the roundabout for Loughborough. Traffic stopped and someone tried to catch it. Dog went into bushes on the left. Do not feel it could be Jake as described as black and smaller but he would now be very dirty and cannot leave any stone unturned
Ellie
There was a Facebook message from someone yesterday saying they had seen a dog like Jake in Hemmington and he was living in fields there. This is obviously being searched and really hope this is him. However, Hemmington is the place where our hopes hd been raised previously but the dog was a black and white lurcher. His team of helpers are working tirelessly.

Keep checking here for any news.

Thanks for all the info skippy, I could tell from the amount of comments there is a fantastic team of people helping to find Jake. Good luck everyone, lets hope its not too long now for this boy to be home safe x

Sorry to see Jake is still out running. Bless him. I xpect you have been told but I hope, as he is seen regularly in the same area, that there is a food station set up. That will keep him there. Also, has anyone mentioned a trap. Good luck and I do so hope he is home very soon

Has anyone put him on Radio Leicester? I often hear lost pets mentioned on there....

Another sighting tonight in the same area on the A50 near the Hilton. A lady stopped her car but he looked at her and ran. Described as a collie with dark ears and freckles in his nose. His army of helpers have been out searching again.

Come on Jake - time to come home now!

Bazil - please don't think there are not people looking for Jake - although his mum and dad aren't local to Loughborough he has a fabulous team of local helpers who routinely drop everything to follow up sightings. Most of the coordinating is done I think through Jakes facebook group 'Jake Lost Dog please help' (link below) - which is why sometimes things are quiet here. I too am not local (Cheshire), but have been quietly willing the gorgeous Jake home from a distance since day one.

I understand from his group that this most recent sighting has been discounted - I think it turned out to be a black and white Lurcher. I have copied the latest description from his FB page about where he has been seen in case there are any other non-facebook locals who can continue to keep an eye out:

"The area that Jake has most been spotted, without a doubt is the Derby Road Playing Fields, Loughborough. But its not just the playing fields themselves, its more the fields behind where hes been laying low and he often uses them to travel between places. He's also been seen around the B&Q /industrial park/Belton Road/Bottleacre Lane areas and Warwick Way, Braddon Road/the flats on braddon road. In the past its also been Hathern, Cotes, Stanford on Soar."

I've asked the reporter on the Loughborough Echo - who ran the story in May - whether he could highlight where Jake has been spotted in the last two days.

Feeling really emotional reading Jake is looking very thin and also where he has been sighted this morning. Poor boy has been out there 3 months now, please, please anyone who is near this area try and get out there and find this beautiful boy. I feel like driving down to help but in reality I am just too far away (Durham). Please stay safe Jake, keep still and be found so you can go home to your family. Good luck to all the wonderful people who are helping to find Jake xx
Ellie
A man driving to work at 7.00 am has phoned owners with a sighting this morning. On the A50 heading towards the M1 roundabout that takes you to Kegworth , near the Hilton Hotel. DW has been out searching, as are many helpers.
Aud40 we cannot say for certain the dog seen on Bottleacre Drive recently was him as there is a brown and white collie that lives in the area. However, many sightings match Jake exactly and is now being described as looking thin.
Please head back to a safer area JakeLast edited: 2012-07-09 16:02:15 by Ellie

Report of Jake being sighted near the Warwick Arms, Loughborough. DW informed and people out searching.
Ellie
Jill has spoken again to the person who sighted Jake on Sunday at 5.30 pm. It was not on the playing fields but through the bottom end of the playing fields near where the rape fields are at the side of the canal. Other people have now come forward with sightings there over the last couple of weeks. The rape is very high and dense now so he could well have made a den there.

Jake's photos updated.
Ellie
I agree millybeau when he was first registered we put on the posters black and white by mistake. I will try to get another picture.
millybeau
Hi Ellie, just to point out that the picture that is up of Jake is showing that he is tri coloured not just brown and white. He seems to have a black head. I can understand why people think he is tri, perhaps ask owners for another picture if they have one.
Ellie
Thanks Hayley, it's hard to tell without a picture. I don't think it is Jake has he is not tri coloured but will make sure owners see this.
hayley
Just for peace of mind, could someone please check out dog id 40174... same description. A kind friend pointed this out to me but is not a member who is able to comment, thank you so much. xxx

Sightings during the week have been Birstsll, Wymeswold, the A6006 near Stanford Hall and Kegworth, so helpers are postering as far out as possible to get in front of him. If anymore alerts can go further afield that would be good. I emailed an article for the Leicester Mercury so hoping they will publish it.

This morning tv programme have posted this on their website....

This Friday we’re intending to feature an item on missing pets. So if you’ve lost a pet, or think you’ve had one stolen, let us know and we might be able to feature them in our missing pets gallery. Email thismorning@itv.com with some good shots of your missing pet and a few details that might help: when you last saw your pet, any distinguishing marks, habits or characteristics. Maybe it was wearing a particular collar. We need your emails by 5.00pm Thursday the 10th May. http://www.itv.com/thismorning/life/reuniting-lost-pets-with-owners/
Ellie
Jills daughter, Gemma is going to do this and it will be on Jakes Facebook page. Thanks for your help Susj
Suzj
Could someone maybe produce a map pin pointing all the confirmed sightings and the times. Just got back from Derby Road playing fields and the towpath but no sign. It breaks my heart just want him to be safely back where he belongs
Ellie
Thanks Suzj he was seen on Monday raiding bins near the flats on Braddon Road, Loughborough. He is extremely scared and living on his instincts to survive now and will not come up to you. If you do see him crouch down low, leave a few bits of garlic sausage nearby and just really try to keep sight of him while you phone for help.
Suzj
Could you tell me where the last sighting was on Monday as we plan to try and help by walking our border collie in the Derby Road / Zouch area this week in the hope we might see him.

Am bumping Jakes page following this recent sighting. Jakes family and friends are trying everything. Area rescented although still it rains. It was the Loughborough Canal festival over the weekend so loads of fliers handed out so hopefully messages of sightings keep coming in to keep track where he is going
Snowdrop
Ellie and i have met up with Jakes amazing family and helpers at lunch time today for a photo for The Loughborough Echo. Also discussed plans for the week. Not long after we left we heard the news of another sighting this afternoon in the same area! Fingers and paws crossed xxx
Ellie
A trap was left in position since Saturday in a position where it was known Jake had been and carefully monitored but as yet no news.
Ellie
Confirmed sighting of Jake yesterday. Snowdrop and myself went to Normanton today to meet Grandad Gerry and a lovely lady Joan who has been a great help to discuss further plans. Jakes owners coming back down again from Yorkshire for the weekend. We are all behind you Team Jake!
Ellie
Also in today's Loughborough Echo.

Jake was sighted by police last night still in the playing fields area
Ellie
As well as the Facebook page below, there is also Jake Lost Dog Help Us. www.facebook.com/jakelost10april2012

Hopefully he didn't show himself because he was sheltering from the weather, I know I would have been!

Thanks to the DW for giving helpers advice on searching without frightening him out of the area. Fingers crossed for some news today.
Ellie
Thanks for your offer Jonfiz I will check with owners, they are coming back to Leicester on Thursday. Despite many people turning out tonight including Dog Warden who has offered use of tracker dog I gather up to now tonight there has not been a sighting. Please stay safe Jake
Jonfiz
Hi is Jake entire as I have a collie bitch in season I could bring up Thursday evening after work to see if that would entice him out
Snowdrop
What an amazing job Jakes search party is doing! I keep checking for good news, come on Jake home time xxx
B30
Good luck everyone, hoping for some good news soon
Ellie
With Jakes owners going back to Yorkshire I am liaising with their fantastic bunch of helpers and we have each others mobile numbers. I have given them all advice as to what to do if they see him, etc. It seems that the river is blocking Jakes triangle and he is staying around the playing fields and allotments. The area is heavily scented by owner and food is being left to contain him in the area. Come on Jake everyone is willing you home.Last edited: 2012-04-24 13:02:51 by Ellie

Jake is going where there is food and water (allotments & lake). Any chance of scenting and leaving food what he can access in these areas? Everyone is doing great. Stay safe Jake, lets hope today is the day he is home.Last edited: 2012-04-24 11:21:48 by BBKM

Further from Ellie, more sightings seen by the Police and people on the recreation ground of Dishley playing fields. Just going back over where he could be seen. More searching tomorrow. Gemma, Jill, John and all of our Search party Thankyou all x
Ellie
The sighting was on Wednesday Gemma. There have been 3 people who have said they saw him on Bottleacre Lane that day and are sure it was Jake and he appeared nervous. Snowdrop and myself have been out searching all day today, firstly from the caravan sight from where he went missing and then met up with owners and their big search party to a recreation ground where reports came in of another possible sighting. He seems to be staying in a relatively small area from where he went missing. Owners have been following scenting advice. Hope to hear some good news soon.
gvhawtin
Could you please confirm this was a sighting yesterday and where we are in the area looking thanks
Could u contact us for more info thanks on 07723048044
Ellie
There has been another sighting of Jake in Bottleacre Lane, Loughborough. It does seem to fit his triangle. Owners just arrived back in Normanton for the weekend to blitz and scent area.
B30
Fingers crossed this is Jake
Ellie
Bumped Jakes page due to a unconfirmed sighting on Ratcliffe Road. I asked lady who reported this to check Jakes DogLost page and she feels it could be him and rang owner. Jakes Grandad and others are on their way. Please let it be him and he stays safe until they can get to him.
BorderCollies
I hope there will be some good news about Jake soon. Fingers crossed.
Ellie
Despite owners searching all weekend there has been no news or sightings of Jake. They have ran the story on 3 radio stations and emailed the Loughborough Echo. Hope to hear some good news soon. Time to come home now Jake
gvhawtin
Family are down in the area of where he went missing all this weekend, they are searching local villages and any places they think he might be. He has been on Fb and twitter, camping and caravanning club and caravan club, radio stations. Friends and family are spending all weekend looking for hi today. Your family misses you Jake.
Ellie
Jakes owners have now offered a reward for his safe return. Jake will also be in the Leicester Mercury and Nottingham Post
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
email from a local helper...

I have already printed out some of Jake's photos and will post them on walks popular with other dog walkers....I hope he is safe and well and is returned very, very soon to his owners. My heart goes out to them. Here's hoping for a speedy reuniting of Jake to his family.

Jake is from Yorkshire and was staying with his Grandad when he jumped over the top of the caravan door. Owners doing all the right things although unfortunately Derbyshire DW is not willing to help as Normanton although on border is technically LE. Microchip company informed and postering. Any volunteers in that area help with postering and searching would be appreciated. Jake will be in the local Loughborough newspaper and has his own Facebook page, the link to which wil be advised by owners daughter.Last edited: 2012-04-12 08:51:21 by Ellie

Sorry to see that JAKE MISSING 10 YEARS is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (38635)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
