I took my tracker dog Wispa to Thurnscoe yesterday so see what scent we could get. Jumanji's partner kindly handled her for me as I am still recovering from injury. We tracked for a little over an hour, and the interesting things is that there was some very fresh scent in the front garden of Ben's home. It led around the estate and out on to the fields at the back, then round the back of the houses to the 2nd bridge. The impression we get is that Ben is still pottering round his home area. We had to stop after an hour or so as I couldn't walk any further, and Wispa will only work for someone else if she has me in view. There are so many nooks and crannies where a dog can hole up, so many things to hide under, and where the trail keeps crisscrossing it's hard to follow it to the end and find the dog. It's like a scent maze. But we are certain he is still around there, and has probably found somewhere very sheltered and only comes out to scavenge, probably late eve or early morning.

Sorry that's the site i mean, didn't realise it was in Australia. I just saw the dogs photo and description as it was shared on my friends facebook wall.. The resembelence between the 2 dogs is uncanny.. So sorry for the confusion :( x

Kat24 can you give more details about where you have seen this found dog please ? The only Brightside Sanctuary I can find a page for on Facebook is in Australia.
kat24
I've just seen a photo on "Brightside Farm Sanctuary" page on facebook, a dog looking very much like Ben has been found. He's also described as elderly and deaf so would be worth checking out. Good luck x

Bumped due to another SIGHTING of Ben after he escaped on Sunday. This was of him on Fields heading towards what is locally known as the 2nd Bridge. please look at Yorkiemamas post below which describes where this is.

Angel did the lad say what time he saw Ben ? Was it before or after the sighting of him in Lancaster Street ? I wish we had know this yesterday when we were there as we could have concentrated searching in this area. Hopefully the postering will start bringing in more sightings.
Yorkiemama
Angel at the bottom end of Chapel Lane across a field is the 2nd bridge
The 1st bridge is located from the middle of deightonby street.
I will get some posters up when i finish work tomorrow
Let me know if you want me to show you where these bridges are

Thank you so much for coming over today Jumanji. Sorry I ran out of posters Yorkie but would be great if you could do some more at work! I tried to strategically place them but there are some areas that could do with more. I had a phone call today from a lad saying he saw Ben on Sunday (sadly again nothing later) but he said that he saw him on the fields heading towards the 2nd Bridge. That doesn't mean anything to me but maybe it does to you Yorkie? I'm really hoping someone has taken him in and just hasn't realised he has a family so with word of mouth and the posters hopefully they'll hear and get him home. Thank you both for your support and help.
Yorkiemama
I live on the estate where ben went missing so i will print some posters tomorrow and put them up.
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
thanks Yorkiemama ! I know his owner has been out postering today so I dont know if she had any left but if you can please do print some up tomorrow. You can do this clicking on the 'view poster ' tab and then clicking the 'print poster' tab. Yorkiemama if you live on the estate you will hopefully be able to see that there are quite a few posters up there now but if you notice a road that has not got one it would be good if you could put one up there. We need to cover this estate with posters as it was the last place Ben was sighted in and we are hoping someone may have taken him in. We drove over to Thurnscoe and spent several hours there this afternoon postering and searching and generally trying to spread the word about Ben. I spoke to a lot of people around Asdas some of whom saw the dog that was sighted yesterday on Low Grange Road and I think we can be almost certain that sighting WAS NOT Ben. We found all the locals very helpful and concerned about Ben which was good to know and its comforting to know there are more people looking out for him now. We also drove to the Golf Club where they took a poster to put up on their notice board, the big Farm house far over in the fields across from the top of Lancaster Street also took one and said they would look out for him and we also put a poster near to the bottom of the road for the Industrial units. WE also searched the back gardens of a few derelict houses on the estate in case he had wandered into one of them. I believe Ben is a newspaper this week but will check again with his owner as to which day it will be. Hopefully with more posters and the media coverage we will get some news of dear Ben x

Yorkiemama
Jumanji, i have sent bens owner a message about posters
I will be able to print some at work tomorrow if bens owner has none spare hopefully he will be back before then
I walked around fields between chapel lane and school street today sorry i did not see him
I spoke to other walkers and showed bens poster on my phone and asked they looked out for him
My neighbour walks the same area twice a day and she now knows what ben looks like and will try and get him if she sees him
Also spoke to the bin men this morning and showed them bens picture
If there is anything else i can do to help ben let me know i will gladly help
Come on Ben you need to be at home with your owner

This old fella is going to be scavenging. Watch out for him anywhere around fast food places as well as dustbins.

BUMPED as we have a possible SIGHTING of Ben yesterday in LOW GRANGE ROAD !!
Yorkiemama please call Bens owner on the number on his page as she mentioned to me she has some posters so if she has some to spare I am sure she would be very grateful if you could take some to put up. Its very exhausting and draining for an owner when they are trying to both search for their dog and poster and I thankyou so much for any help you can give them ! Yorkiemama
I had a walk around york street lancaster street and brunswick street last night
Also checked some unoccupied out buildings on brunswick street but no sightings. If he was on low grange road it is possible he crossed the fields which is not a great distance. I have no printer to print off any posters could i collect some from anyone. If not i will print some when i'm at work tomorrow. I will walk on the fields between chapel lane and towards low grange crescent this afternoon. If i see him i will try and get him and phone you angel.
angel_of_mcmlxx
Someone has said they think they saw him today on Low Grange Road, which is a world away from the top end of Thurnscoe where he was last seen. I will take a look along that area as well tomorrow. Just thought I should tell you.
angel_of_mcmlxx
Ben is my dog. Thank you for your help. To help stop any confusion, the other dog who looks very similar (similar markings) is called Rocky however Rocky is wearing a collar and carries his head on one side. Ben isn't wearing a collar. Hope this helps. If you see him please try and get him, he's very friendly, but he is almost totally deaf.

Thanks Yorkiemama ! There is apparently another dog similar to Ben that sometimes wanders about locally but we are sure the sighting of Ben in Lancaster Road 4 hours after he went missing WAS him and there were also sightings of him around this time in nearby York road and one of these sightings was by the lady that owns the similar dog ! There have been no more sightings of Ben since the ones mentioned above and his owner is becoming very worried so PLEASE keep a look out for this elderly boy !
Yorkiemama
I walk my dog on the fields at the top of lancaster street/chapel lane every day so i could put some posters up and of course help look for Ben around these fields.
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Ben is 16 years old and wandered out of his garden when a gate was left unsecured. He is unliKely to be able to find his way home and was last seen wandering along Lancaster Street 4 hours after he escaped. From this point he could have wandered out onto open fields. His owner has been out searching for him and has contacted Rotherham and Barnsley Dog Wardens and Cliffe Kennels and Mount Pleasant Kennels. His owners are putting posters up but also trying to search for this elderly boy. Any help with postering of searching the fields would be appreciated so very much ! At 16 years of age Max needs to be back at home with his family. Hoping so much that Ben is found vey soon xx
