Some distance away, but National pet register has a report of a found female patterdale in Chester le street yesterday - taken to Cleadon Kennels:

Terrier Dog
Postcode area DH3
Found on 27/10/12
Dominant colour is Black
Gender is Female
white chest marking, docked tail

Black patterdale terrier (so im told) found at 8pm saturday 27/10 wandering up blackfell way in Birtley by the new persimmon homes. she was all over the road and almost hit by a taxi. knocked doors, and walked her hoping she would lead me to an area she knew but to no avail. took her home but due to my female dog going potty i had to call the dog warden at gateshead council. the guy picked her up at 9.30 and took her to cleadon kennels (0191) 5292369 where she will be kept for a week. if no one claims her she will apparently be put up for re homing.

shes a lively girl, acting like a puppy, but teeth and greying around the muzzle/whiskers makes me think shes probably older.

Sighting of what may well be Jess and Bramble near Wintersett Reservoir, which is close to areas they have been seen before. The man who phoned in had noticed one smoother coated and longer legged patterdale and one short legged rough coated one together in a field. They ran off together, and then the man walked on and saw a poster so called at once. Last edited: 2012-03-28 16:33:00 by Owl

not sure if this is of any help but worth checking out......On national pet register site. 2 dogs found together, finder doesn't state the actual breed or gender as wants to make sure the right owners come forward.Dogs dominant colour is listed as black. These dogs were found in Ayrshire, which i know isn't local to where Jess and Bramble went missing from but as it's been so long they could be anywhere by now....well worth checking anyway x

To anyone following this case and to others that are being directed towards this page by people on facebook. PLEASE READ....

Owner has had some posts on facebook from peeps saying she is a puppy farmer and her animals are not being looked after. Rest assured two of my most trusted co ordinators meet with the owner regularly...who has never given up on finding her dogs....The accusations that owner does not look after her animals is rubbish her house is immaculate her animals are kept in the lap of luxury and she takes in rescues....Also one thing people who do not know the person or the circumstances dont know is the owner is a VET....I ask anyone reading this or receiving anonymous emails...is to get their facts right...ring me if you need clarification on 0844 800 3220....
It is a sad day when people pick on someone who has been desperately searching for weeks for her much loved dogs to see the wonderful support by genuine dog lovers who have helped her spread the word on the net..turn into unwarrented, ignorant, unhelpful attack on an innocent person who is feeling particulary vulnerable at the moment.
I trust and know that supporters of doglost...which in short means supporters of missing dogs ...will if they have these rumours added to their facebook page have the common sense to delete them or point the peeps doing this in my direction.
BBKM
Sad to hear this, hope they are both found safe soon, poor little darlings xx

On Jess and Bramble's Facebook page, there has been a sighting to two similar dogs in a park with someone acting suspiciously, Richard and Nichola have been contacted and it is being checked out now. Hope it is good news.

You are quite right dorofin and that is exactly what we have been doing. I was up there with Wispa day before yesterday and she found a fresh trail from the area we think they are, round some fields than down to the outskirts of town, then along another route back. I think it was Jess going out foraging. But we couldn't find exactly where she ended up, there is loads of woodland and they are well and truly hidden.
dorofin
Hi would it be worth looking in the place they were last or most recently sighted, because if ones due to have babes, i would be surprized if the other one is not looking out for it and possible they have got under a hedge or simalier for her to have her babes, she won't want to have them out in the open, what i am saying is you may only see one now ,but the other won,t be far away.Probally do the hunting for food for new mum and guarding to keep other animals away. i really hope you find them soon as now she is going to be a mum,she needs you more.good luck.

Having looked at comment about micro-chipping - it doesn't work because so many councils do not scan companion animals killed on the road, and because many vets still fail to scan new patients - theri code of practice is to scan stays, dogs presented for chipping "and ones they believe to be stolen"! Excuse me, what a cop out - how can you expect a vet in pracitice to know if he is presented with a stolen sold-on dog? These two loop-holes need to be fixed before micro-chipping will help bring home long-term missing dogs.
wensmum
Stowe Fair will be covered with regard to these two dogs, but yes, wouldn't it be nice if the RSPCA was there with scanners

I've just read that Stowe on the Wold Gypsy Horse Show is on again this week - think it's tomorrow 20th - check website. If this is correct, then I know from experience that there are travellers trading horses and dogs on both sides of the road and all around the place. Maybe there's a lot more thefts going on in preparation for thier dealings.....True there are a few police around, but loads of travellers! Could do with RSPCA and scanners out!Last edited: 2011-10-19 01:08:16 by Neighbark

Jayne- I thought your comment about election posters was excellent and summed-up their double standards. Could do with more of these articles to warn people of increasing dog-theft, alert them to missing dogs and the necessity for microchipping. Paws crossed for results from the article.

Would they fine you if you stood in the busiest area you know with a megaphone(loud hailer) and told everyone about your missing dogs. Hand out leaflets at the same time, would save on petrol and you may get media coverage if it is widely what is happening.

Michelle Oscars mum
I have put a link up to what type of thing can be done if you use this to your advantage (its TV coverage that we got for Oscar)

http://www.itv.com/westcountry-west/missing-posters-removed27505/
Michelle Oscars mum
Hello Maldini, I'm Oscar's mum Michelle who gemma35 mentioned about. I had the same problem with the Council in Cornwall they threatened to prosecute me if I did not take the posters down. So I'm going to try to give you some advice because I know this is adding more distress to you. Firstly they CAN prosecute you under the Fly postering act - same lines as fly tipping. BUT you are not the only person that has put the posters up, helpers and friend have put these up to. I was told to take the posters down but I could keep them to notice boards, private property (with owners permission) shops etc. Not lamp-post, telegraph poles. We removed these as requested but asked more people to help by giving us permission to put it on their gate posts, bins, car windows etc. We then had to write to the council stating where we had taken the posters down from, also mentioning that we keep them to private property etc. Also stating that helpers from difference missing dog website have also been helping you by putting posters up around the area so you are not sure where they are all located. By doing this you are showing willing to abide by the rules. You can use this to your advantage though, contact the local papers to come and do a story on you searching for your dogs and the council threatening to fine you of what would be into the thousands. Also contact the local news if I'm correct it is Calender News in your area and ask to speak with a journalist. They are always willing to help if it is a good story. In the meantime get onto facebook and start a find Bramble and Jess page up. Get as many helpers, posters etc up there as possible and mention this to the journalists when they come out to film. Also if people would as them to write to you local MP to see if they can help you as you feel as so you are been discriminated against due to other posters been up by circus etc. If you need to speak to me regarding this you can find my details on dog Id 28036 - Oscar's page, you can also read what we did. USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE FOR PUBLICITY. I sincerely hope that you get some postivie results from this and get your babies home.
wensmum
Don't know legalities of this, I thought yoou were allowed to poster unitl situation was resolved then had to take them down. Can councils just make things up? Surely they can't do this unless there is a byelaw (I know you don't want to ask that in case there is, but you can get I think 1/2 hour free legal advice from solicitors), but certainly worth contacting local radio and press and tv possibly MP? Try emailing your doglost area person for media contacts? I think they haven't got time to check everyone's posts on sites, but they know so much. Ask all your group to carry posters on car windows, and your village to put them in house windows - they can't stop you doing that. Keep fighting, lass, some councils are the pits
gemma35
oscar who has been missing since feb in cornwall owner had the same problem council saying they would fine her for posters for her missing dog coz some sad people complaining saying it made the bodmin moor loo un tidy etc.she wrote to the local papers, and other papers, was on news. was told she was only allowed to put posters up on public notices boards or private post of permission of owners. l know this doesnt help but thought l would like you know hoe sad our council is and ideas of advertising your dogs
Maldini
Also the area where the recent possible sightings were is in the wake council area so we can't even publicise them there or ridiculously not even in our own village! Someone has just pointed out to me that the circus put up hundreds of posters ev they go and they have just been in wake council area, I bet they aren't being fined thousands of pounds
Maldini
It's official.bob Taylor at Wakefield council has decided that any posters up after 27th oct we will be fined £75 per poster!! It's disgraceful, how else r we suppost to search for our pets? We all need to make complaints to the council about this please. Yorkshire post are doing an article on Friday and then we will be trying to go national. At least Jess and bram will get extra publicity and we have no intention of stopping postering until we find them. Everyone needs to act though because if other councils do it there will be no hope for pet owners anywhere! Please let all the dogslost Hellers no about this. As if it wasn't bad enough that our babies have been gone for 5.5
Weeks, now THIS, please help us find them!
Maldini
HELP- we have put up hundreds and hundreds of posters! It's the only hope of getting them back. Now council have rung and said they have had lots of complaints and that we have to take them all down!!! Also they have said we could be fined £75 per poster. What do we do?
DogLostOwl
Someone did see one of them running loose in the area where the scent led, but was told by a local person that they had been found and the reward had been claimed so she didn't make the crucial phone call. It is just by chance that owners met this girl and found out about this sighting while searching S Kirby. That is why I have added STILL MISSING. Also they are in the Sheffield Star again tomorrow, so hopefully this will correct the false info going round the local grapevine.
Maldini
Please everyone keep looking for them, someone must have seen them x
DogLostOwl
Wispa got some very fresh scent in S Kirby today, and I believe we found their route from a large area of common land into the village.
Neighbark
I'm from the central area, so am not able to help you search, but have been watching your postings (and little Rags)- with great hopeful interest. I've been looking out for another missing doggie 'Rosie', and am now aware of the highs and lows everytime there is a sighting. I do think that offering a reward has its time and place, and my biggest worry is travellers. Having witnessed 2 'uncouth men' walk into Equimix horse feeds recently - and go straight over to their notice board (where posters of missing dogs were clearly shown), - made me very suspicious. I wish you all much luck in finding your dogs.
wensmum
Oh, I so hope you are close to getting your two girls back home now - please St Francis, its your day today, may we have some miracles?
DogLostReynard
Seems a very good place for them to be on Hemsworth Railway Embankment lots of holes and bunnies,,,,,,good luck!
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
This sighting sounds promising and they could so easily be covering this land between the areas of sightings and having walked in some of these areas I can vouch for the abundance of rabbits ! Also sources of water round and about so plenty for them to survive on. We will get out there tomorrow if not later today and walk some of the fields but will check with Maldini first to see if there is a particular area they would like us to cover. Come on Jess and Bramble its far time you came home xx
DogLostOwl
Possible sighting of Jess at 6.30 this morning on a footpath close to open land at South Kirby, which is outside their usual circuit but not far going cross-country. It looks as if they may be moving up and down along the railway embankment which is full of rabbits. Railtrak and their workers are aware of these dogs.

Anyone be able to help? Thanks so much x
DogLostOwl
There was a search party today with a number of people helping and asking everyone they met. A man said he saw 2 black terriers earlier in the week but he can't remember whether Tues or Weds. They were going along the edge of a potato field near Hemsworth rugby club. This is one place that Wispa took us to earlier on.

Hi it's been all over grimethorpe. We would be very grateful of any help with postering. If u spk to pam she has a dl poster which has the £1000 bigger than on original one. Thanks again for your help. Been out looking today and yest and still nothing x
BADAW
Is there any set area in Grimethorpe that the posters are being taken down or is it just all around there?

If possible then laminate the posters and fix to telegraph poles, other wooden posts with staple gun.

Have seen some posters (not D L) in Royston area, with permission, I will print off D L posters, laminate them and replace those required in Royston.

Lots of help being given by many people, and dogs, to get these two back home. Hope they are found safe and sound soon.

I think I can copy email address for recue centres with email nationwide - there would still be some you have to contact by phone or on-line form. It is going to be very un-handy for this site - have you got facebook or something where I can private messgae you if you still need them?

I know what you mean about sightings - everything from a Yorkie to a GSD has been "Rags", but you have to check everything out, don't you. Someone it might help to contact is dee@rescueremedies.co.uk - she does all sorts of terrier rescue, very nice lady. My heart goes out to you - which doesn't help at all. Take care.

Hope you have news soon. Liz xx

So sorry for you - does your post on Rags mean no luck with sightings? To go National, Helen sent me a list of rescues for SE, and someone sent list of every dog warden, which we just worked through. Dogpages has lists of rescues, but there does not appear to be a national data base of email addresses - you can't even get RSPCA to contact all their centres, but Dogs Trust will contact all theirs, they are great. K9search (I think) set up facebook page, and I have learnt how to do facebook - that has been a great help. This is link for wardens http://www.luton.gov.uk/internet/environment/animal_welfare/dog%20warden%20services/dogwarden_1.html. Sue has been very helpful at keeping things upto date. The worst is not knowing if they are safe - I so hope for you that these sightings show they are on the way back to you. Have you got computer lit friends that can help - a lot of time seems to be just trying to get posters in vets, pet shops, dog sitters etc. If there is any help I can offer, please post it on Rags, and I will do all I can

Much scenting has been done. These possible sightings are quite close to home, so if they are of Jess and/or Bramble it indicates that they have made their way back to their home area.
lesleyjane
Are these sightings far from where you live? Is it worth scenting area? Good that people aware of the missing dogs, keep up the postering ( sorry, can't help, in London!) and I really hope you get them home soon.

BUMPED due to possible SIGHTINGS of Jess and Bramble on what is known locally in South Hiendley as the Common ( land near to Regent Street). One was of both dogs two days after they went missing and then the same person saw one of the dogs again in the same area yesterday.Last edited: 2011-09-21 13:32:59 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Maldini
Please bump to top as potential sighting!

Is there anyone else that has time to help. Rich has had to go back to work otherwise we won't have enough money to live on. I'm off sick as recovering from a shoulder operation 4 weeks ago. I have 1 arm in sling so not insured to drive at moment and I can't put posters up with1 hand so feel helpless
Maldini
Does anyone have anymore ideas what we can do?? Really struggling and worried about them, just want to know something about what's happened to them
Patterdale
Ackworth heavily postered along the road with the Angel pub on which backs onto tbd turkey farm area and also around the main roundabout.
Maldini
We are distraught, no sightings at all after 2 weeks with loads of posters, newspaper articles and radio appeals. Think they must have been stolen.
wickedweims
I checked the patterdale from sheffield pound, It was a male and was reclaimed by its owners

I dont know if there are still streams- I moved away for a number of years myself and havent really been across the old railway lines since I moved back but they used to go all over from Sth Hiendly- across the common to Brierley,Shafton, Royston- AND the other way towards Hemsworth, Pontefract - all joining with Bridlepaths- but many I do not walk. I have got posters to take to Ackworth tomorrow.
Maldini
I am really worried as I have just had a call from a man that saw article in star. He found a black pat in garden last sun which went to spring street kennels. We haven't been notified by kennels or dog warden. I will ring mon, don't think it's ours from description but worth checking. It's really scary how dogs can slip through the net and that it could happen to ours
Maldini
Hi Tracey, we not local and don't no our way round so pls can u ring me and give us a hand. Is there any streams with fish in around the area? Nic 07779357821
TracyB
Cross posted to all friends around Hemsworth- posters printing again & new supply of wallets. Will take to Ackworth tomorrow- whether doing boot sale or not. Its really easier for these dogs to travel backwards & forwards Heindly to Hemsworth on old railway lines- we did it as kids so for the dogs- no time at all.

Been to Lee gap fair and handed out posters. No luck from newspaper articles. Is there anyone who can help with postering as they r coming down as fast as we putting them up,especially in grimethorpe. We want to increase area with posters but it's an impossible task when people pulling them down:-(! We would be very very grateful for any help, thanks

So peased to see you have been able to post Maldini ! We need to follow up on the sighting of the man with two similar dogs near the rugby gound. The lady I spoke to said she particularly noticed the white chest. We will go over to this area during the weekend for a walk in the hope we see these dogs.
Maldini
We have had a potential sighting in a farmers field near the turkey farms at the back of kinsley/hemsworth of 2 black dogs running free and today a lady told pam at a bus stop that she had maybe seen them on hemsworth rugby ground on wed which is very close to where wispa took us on wed. The lady was not sure if they were with someone or not. May not be them but if it is they may have been picked up and kept by this man or may still be free. Not much help but at least it may give us something to go on

Just to report on tracking efforts the day before yesterday. There was still a fair bit of wind, and Wispa picked up from where she had the last bit of ground scent the day before and hit a trail where she showed us a couple of poos which looks like theirs but are black as they are living off what they catch. They appear to have scurried through Hemsworth, probably in the early hours when no one is about, and gone up past the rugby club to the bridleway which runs along the bypass before returning via a footpath. If we had kept going we would have ended up between Hemsworth and Kinsley, but we were all shattered including Wispa so called it a day. Wispa has shown us a circuit they did which is roughly triangular, but they probably ran on the inner side of where she went. Faced with poor scenting conditions she draws a line round the whole area from which scent is blowing. It's quite a big area in this case, and although most of it is open fields where black dogs would show up, they are probably hunting at dawn and dusk and going along the hedgerows. Much of it is private farmland with no footpaths, and we are very grateful to the farmer for giving permission to search this land. Apart from farmers no one goes there, which would explain the lack of sightings.

Well done Owl and thankyou for taking Wispa out to search today. We have been out postering today. Putting one in each petshop in Cudworth and also the vets. Also had a drive round and put more up in Havercroft, Hemsworth and Brierley and then walked in Royston. The owners have been very busy postering but we do need keep going with them and make sure we have covered all surrounding areas.Good luck for tomorrow Owl xx

Another sighting in Clayton was reported by phone while I was helping owners today, but it was before they went missing. Wispa and I got a trail which led in the opposite direction to what we were expecting, taking us across the fields opposite their home across country to Kinsley. Scent work was very difficult due to wind still being strong and gusting. We are returning tomorrow to see if we can take the trail further. These dogs will be in local papers tomorrow.
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Owners have had another call wth a sighting last Friday morning of the 2 dogs in the Clayton area. The dogs were with with a man and on leads. It is possible these were the two dogs seen running in the area last Tuesday. We need to try to find the man with these dogs so we can at least eliminate the sightings if they are not Jess and Bramble. More posters need to go up in this area and have advised owners to ask around locally to see if anyone knows this man and his dogs. The possible sighting last Tuesday afternoon of these dogs was in a field On Clayton Lane, Clayton. This is the only sighting their owners have had so far and they can not be completely certain it was their dogs. So we need to still be looking and postering in all directions from South Hiendley. Owners have been checking with Cliffe kennels and Mount Pleasant kennels. Will any helpers in any areas radiating from South Hiendley PLEASE help the owners with postering ........ even if you can only do one it is still a help and it could be that one poster that is seen by someone who knows where they are !!

Do these dogs have docked, half or full tails? The I can advertise them
DogLostJytte - Area Volunteer - West Yorkshire
Some of us have posted and shared on Facebook, including Beverley Cuddy of Dogs Today mag. Apparently the owners have been subjected to a cruel "hoax" with someone saying they had seen the dogs dead. Some sick people about - Jytte

These 2 were let out together to go ratting by someone staying at the house, in spite of strict instructions not to do this, and have legged it. They may still be out hunting or may have been picked up.
