I've heard there was a bedreggled and muddy border collie seen on Bodmin Moor.
First sighting was 21st April near Minnion Village & Goliath Falls.
Then reports of a Collie going towards Liskeard direction a few days leading up to 30th April.
Flo
Hi Jann, probably along shot but I have just seen a female stray collie named Megan up for rehoming on a plymouth sanctuary Woodside. Looks a bit like your Sky. Here is a link to her page http://www.woodsidesanctuary.org.uk/product.php?cat_id=10&sub_id=9&pro_id=1375

Just printed off Sky's poster to bring down with me on Saturday. Will be staying near St Breward for a week, but doing lots of walking all around the area with our dogs. Will be looking out for Sky and Oscar and the N reg Passat you mentioned x

No luck at the place that I checked today. It was a very sad and depressing place that's all I can say at the moment.Last edited: 2011-08-29 21:09:28 by jann

Possible sighting of Sky travelling in silver N reg passat estate driven by man with longish hair along the lane that is locally known as the shortcut from Liskeard to St keyne. Spotter tried to follow car but lost sight of it as it sped off at speed down access only lane (but also used as shortcut). She was standing up in the back so spotter got good view of her.

Sky now has her own facebook page, please join and share. thanks x

Hi Jan. I have sent a multi poster out to 56 boarding kennels and about 30 riding stables. I hope we hear something soon xx
jann
Thanks everyone, The Guardian for this area decided at the last minute not to run a story as they say there isn't really a story as she is just another missing dog with no positive sightings, gutted and disheartened but I still believe I'll find her. All our local farmers and neighbours have checked their sheds and are all looking out for her, that's great Barney 'n'Ozzie's mum, please thank your daughter and her bf. Kimmybear, that's what I think now too - that somebody has taken her in. I've been searching the area south of us towards Looe, there's quite a few really rural places - and you're right it's easy to forget not everyone has internet and gets out to see posters. Thanks again for all support, I'll find her xx
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
Just a thought, have you checked barns/outbuildings etc incase she has a den in one? Perhaps you could ask local farmers to check theirs for you.
Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
My daughter will be holidaying down there next week and will be doing lots of walking with her boyfriend, so I've given her posters of Sky, Cloud (30145)and Oscar (28036). Hope you get some positive news soon xx

I am so sorry Sky has not been found yet. She is out there somewhere - re check all the authorities - no matter if you are pestering them, quite often they need to be pestered. Your advertisements will help enormously. She may well have been taken in by someone who is caring for her. You said you live in a small community - I am thinking - is there a place or person a little further out with no access to internet or who doesn't get out much to see the posters etc? Maybe an older person, who doesn't know what to do so has just taken her in? Wracking my brains here. Strange things happen with our DogLost dogs so maybe think out of the box, so to speak. Keep going, she's somewhere. With love, Kim x

Sky should also have appeared in the Cornish Guardian this week though i dont have a link for her, bumping Last edited: 2011-06-16 11:51:56 by ESSJ - Area Co-ordinator Rutland

Thanks Michelle, that's great, hopefully more posters and a story on them in the Guardian next week will lead to something positive.
Michelle Oscars mum
Hi Jan, I have posted Sky's posters with Oscar and Clouds to about 30 vet across Cornwall today, have some more to do tomorrow. Hope this helps with some news of sightings or even better their return xx
Michelle Oscars mum
Hi Jan, have you had any news at all? Have you tried asking the papers if they can do you a story? Keep your spirits up xx
Flo
I am so sorry you have had no news Jan, must be so heart breaking. It doesn't make sense at all. Keep up everything your doing, just really hope you get some news soon. I keep checking all the sights too. Maybe someone did take her in and didn't think to check if anyone is missing her x x x x
jann
Have had no land line, internet or email since Friday so haven't logged on. Have had no sightings, nothing at all. Still have posters up, people still looking out for her, how can she just disappear. Went back to basics at the weekend and walked all neighbours fields and woods again and as far as I could go further along railway and viaduct just in case. Don't know what else to do, can't believe she's been missing 12 weeks yesterday, I just miss her so much. Back to the websites I guess. Thanks Flo xx
Flo
Hi Jan, sorry ive not posted for a while. Any news at all? x x x x
jann
Didn't see the St Neot collie, asked a couple of dog walkers but no joy there. Spoke to the people who rang you with the sighting, they think it's a boy and pretty sure it doesn't have any tan on it, but I'm going to take some posters up tomorrow just to be sure.... there's also a female collie found in Bodmin today on here that I'm trying to get more info on (thanks Flo) Good idea re. facebook pages, will get on that. Thanks xx
Michelle Oscars mum
Hi Jann, Any luck with the sighting at St Neot village? I really hope that this is your girl. I have put your mobile number into my phone now so if I get any further calls I will give you a bell straight away. Fingers crossed for you xx
Michelle Oscars mum
Hi Jann, if you type into your facebook search 'pets or dogs' it will bring up quite a few pages to put her on. Also pirate fm, atlantic fm and radio Cornwall have a facebook page. It maybe worth putting Sky's details on there too. I have tried putting Oscar on them all even pages in the search that start 'Cornwall' Everything is worth a try. Fingers crossed your hear something positive soon xx
jann
Hi Flo, thanks for that, she's on my facebook but didn't know about the Cornwall page. Have had hopes dashed twice today, but shows posters are working. Went to Upton Cross where there was a collie seen in gardens but was a boy. Wherever you are Skiddles I will find you, I won't give up. Thanks Jo and MichelleandJon, all the positive vibes really help. xxx
Flo
Hiya Jan, really sorry there hasn't been anymore news yet. I have put Sky's details on the dogs lost in cornwall facebook page as couldn't see her on there. Someone must no something, we just need to find that someone! Come on Sky gives us a clue x x x x
jobadger
Thinking of you daily Sky - where you are, what you're doing. I do hope you have some news soon. Jo xx
Michelle Oscars mum
I know exactly how your feeling and what thoughts go through your head. And know it doesn't get any easier. I hope you hear some positive news soon. Try to stay positive xxx
jann
Just followed up anther possible sighting but again it's not her. My 5 sheep have just finished lambing and I missed her so much, she would just be there wherever, whatever time it was, day or night, she's follow me to the lambing shed and just wait for as long as it took.
jann
No nothing, it's all gone very quiet, how can dogs just disappear ? I'm convinced somebody has taken her and she's out of the area now. It's a very small community here and everyone knows her, it would only be a matter of time before somebody recognised her if she was local.
Michelle Oscars mum
Have there been any new sightings yet Jann? I do hope you hear something soon. Come on Sky show yourself little princess, come home to your mummy.
Flo
Sorry neither were Sky, really hope you get something to go on very soon x
jann
Thanks Riverlady, Flo, have phoned Dogstrust and neither collies are Sky but have emailed her details, thanks. x
Flo
Hi Jan, a new collie has been added to the Ilfracombe branch of dogs trust: http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming/lucy0038768.aspx No photo or details on site yet, just says lucy 8+. Worth checking. There is another new one with photo called Fern but dont think its your Sky from pic. Flo x
DogLostRiverlady
Have put Sky on twitter + will circulate.
jann
Thanks Flo, have just registered her details with them. x
Flo
Hi Jan, thats awful, that poor dog! I might go down there again armed with food for the poor thing, if I can catch a sighting. I have just thought have you notified Margaret Green animal rescue about Sky. They have a branch at Tavistock called Wingletang Animal Rescue & Rehoming Centre: 01822 810215. Flo x
jann
Sorry haven't been on here to update, but sadly no, it's not Sky - but sadly too, this poor dog sounds in a poor way. I spoke to the local farmer and he said there was a dog a couple of months ago that was roaming, it belonged to a guy who worked on the oil rigs (so was away a lot) but he thought that the situation was resolved, maybe the guy's away again? Back to the drawing board for me and Sky, don't worry beautiful girl I'll find you xx
Flo
Sadly yes Jan has confirmed the walkhampton collie isn't Sky. Do we know if the dog wardon has been notified of this dog? It really doesn't sound in a good way and growls when approached. Has a red collar on. Someone must be missing this dog. Really hope Jan gets some positive news soon x
ESSJ - Area Co-ordinator Rutland
The Walkhampton collie isnt Sky unfortunately
Teddys Mum - Area Volunteer, West London
Jann, this is normal behaviour for a dog that has been running loose for a while. They will run from humans, even their owner. If you do see her, lay down and whimper, her curiosity will bring her over to you. Have some food in your hand. Also put food down regularly where she has been seen to keep her strengh up. Hope she is home soon... Good luck.
Flo
I have been to Walkhampton today and yesterday, and parked up just onto the moor as is a good view point across to the railway and Walkhampton (when the fog has lifted!). Sadly no sign. Will go down as frequently as possible. This poor dog doesn't sound in a good way. When my ink arrives Jan I will get some posters out x
Michelle Oscars mum
That sounds positive. Good luck Jann xx
jann
The sighting of the collie is the Walkhampton side of the disused railway line and also in the village of Walkhampton scavenging bins. After seeing a photo of Sky, the lady that has seen the collie said it's quite possible that it's her. She has emailed her dogwalking friends and gave me the phone number of the farmer whose land she's been seen on, he is now looking out for her. The dog is very thin, mangy and nervous and runs off when approached, which doesn't sound at all like Sky but after this amount of time I suppose it could be. So, at some point tomorrow, depending on the birthing plans of my sheep, I'm going to Dartmoor with posters.
jann
Thanks for that Michelle, so sorry you haven't got your boy back yet either. Keep your spirits up and good luck for the weekend. Thanks again - I'm so hoping that this is Sky this time. xx
Michelle Oscars mum
I hope this is your girl. The lady rang me thinking it maybe Oscar but the description sounded more like Sky. So passed her details to Jane to get all the info she could. I have everything crossed for you, that this is your girl. We've got to keep our hopes up, our babies are out there somewhere and we will find them no matter how long it takes. xxx
jann
Good to have another sighting ! Have contacted the lady who has seen her, so will hopefully soon have some more details of the sighting like where and when and also possible a photo, which would be great. Huge thanks to Flo who lives near Walkhampton and has been having a look around the area - legend ! Have emailed a photo of Sky to the local vets, so, not getting my hopes up - have been there before - but you never know.
Flo
No way, that is down the road from me! Will text Jann and drive through tomo. I really hope it is Sky, but my Husband picked up a tri collie on the main road that runs past walkhampton to princetown a few months ago. She was a wondering farm collie from the area so there is a chance it could be that same collie x
Michelle Oscars mum
Fingers crossed Jan let's hope this is Sky xx
jobadger
I do hope this lovely girl's home soon. xx
ESSJ - Area Co-ordinator Rutland
Possible sighting. a collie type dog with similar colouring to Sky has been seen hanging around scavenging out of dustbins in/near Walkhampton about 20 miles away from her home. Have spoken to owners and put them in contact with lady who reported seeing this dog. Fingers crossed its Sky. Bumping as a possible sighting.
Flo
Sorry to hear this Jann. Thats annoying someone is taking your posters down! Keep trying x
jann
No sign of any dog living rough, have spent last 3 days over there at different times and nothing, and my posters there have been taken down too.
Flo
Jann thats fantastic news youv'e had another possible sighting! Come on Sky show yourself now, time to come home to your mum. Keeping all my fingers crossed for you x
jann
Another possible sighting, a collie living rough - and not that far from home really but very remote. Have been out searching tonight and more posters up - so many people have heard about her and looking for her. OH and friend been out searching and asking further afield, also Border Collie Rescue website. Come on Sky, show yourself my lovely, 5 weeks tomorrow, we need you back home xx
jann
All gone quiet. Nothing from advert in paper, searching the fields, woods that she may have been seen back on 3rd March, called at some more remote farms and houses. Someone, somewhere must have seen her. Thanks for text today Flo x Now back to scrolling through websites.
Flo
Jan has confirmed although very similar, sadly this isn't her girl x
Flo
Hi Jann, a new dog has been added to rspca exeter website she is a tri collie. I cant be sure from photos, worth you checking just incase. http://www.rspcaexeter.org.uk/dogs.html. She is called Lucy, its says shes 9 and doesn't give history. Flo x
Michelle Oscars mum
Sorry it wasn't Sky. I will keep looking for her too when I'm scouring the internet. It's great you have something to go on though. Even with Oscar been in the paper we still haven't heard anything but I'm not giving up. Somebody, somewhere must know something. Good luck in your search and stay positive xx
Flo
Jann thats fab you've got something to go on, and great news from network rail. Fingers crossed it was your Sky and shes still around that area. Sounds like she would have plenty of places to sleep and hide away there x
jann
Thanks for the phone call yesterday Michelle, no luck with Gumtree, it's a male, about 1 yr old. How's things with you ? Any news of Oscar ? An update on sky - had a phone call from a lady yesterday evening saying she'd seen Sky's posters in the vets and pretty sure that she saw her on 3rd March in a field between Pengover and Menheniot (around 3 to 4 miles from here). She showed me exactly where she saw her, by a river. It's a very rural area - apart from a farm a couple of hundred yards away, which, coincidentally is where Harry, the dog that is the father of Sky's puppies lives. She hasn't been there for around 6 years ... Anyway, I walked with Sue (the lovely lady who had sighted her) and my other collie around the area, left a sock, called at the nearest house and left a poster, went to see the owners of Harry, they already knew Sky was missing but it's possible she cold stil be living rough on their land. I'm not getting my hopes up but Sue described her exactly down to the white tip to her tail and said she was just chilling, trotting along the river bank but obviously this was some time ago now. There are woods, a quarry and old outbuildings - and loads of fields so I'm going exploring and postering. Feeling more positive now I have something to go on again. Flo - a very nice lady rang back from Network Rail today saying according to their records no dogs have been reported on the railway line - phew ! Michelle - sending love for Oscar, keep strong xx
Michelle Oscars mum
Hi Jann, did you have much luck with the Gumtree advert I called about yesterday. Michelle x
Flo
Welldone Jann, I know it must be awful but worth ruling out. Thats great you've got local help, was worried you were doing it all by yourself! x
jann
Have bitten the bullet and emailed the railways asking to check for any dogs seen on the line gulp.
jann
Hi Flo, yes, the railway line does actually border our land, we've continually checked the visible areas of the line from our land and our neighbouring farmers', there's nowhere on our smallholding where she can get on to the line though ... I will see if there is a phone number to check for any incidents on the railway line. I've had lots of support with postering, spreading the word and the local dog walkers have been brilliant. Thanks again Flo, will keep on plugging away at everyone who will listen - and even those that don't. xx
Flo
Hi jann, sorry to here that you may have been following the wrong dog. Your doing a fab job, try and keep your spirits up. I hate to ask but are you anywhere near the railway line that runs through Liskeard? Do keep plugging her on the radio and keep harrassing the DW and checking kennels/rescue centres. Has anyone been helping you poster and spread the word? Fingers crossed you get that all important phone call x x x x
jann
Thanks everyone, I'm trying to be positive but after today's events am feeling a bit down. Had a phone call this afternoon from a lady who said she was following a collie resembling sky north along the Golberdon road to Pensilva. She very kindly said she'd try and stay within sight of her whilst I got there. Raced there and the lady met me saying she'd followed the dog down a bumpy track (it's pretty rural round there) to a rundown farm. She asked the people that were there and they said this was their (male) dog Ben he often goes off wandering for miles... this could be the dog that I have been leaving scenting stuff out and trying to get a glimpse of for for the last 2 weeks, as it's not very far from Haye Lane and the other sightings. Apparently the dog does look like Sky but has more brown on his face and is stockier. So, if the Sky I was plotting the movements of was actually Ben all along, then my beautiful Sky could be anywhere. Have rang the local kennels again and harrassing the DW as someone must know where she is. Yes, Flo, I will get back on to Pirate again and say she's still missing. Thanks Bordercollies for the advice on advert, I asked the local paper if they would do a small feature on her but they just said I had to put an ad in the Missing Section again - she was in on Friday. I think I will get on to them again. I spent last night scrolling throught the rescue home websites checking all the collies just in case. I'm very grateful for all the support, it does make me realise I'm not alone in this, it's just so sad that so many dogs and their owners are apart, but I won't give up. xxx
BorderCollies
Don't get disheartened Jann if you have no sightings. I know it is difficult to keep the spirits up, but Collies are clever and tough.
I am sure this was all already suggested to you by DL, but it really helped me to plot my dog's sightings on a map and when she returns to certain areas on a regular basis I would start putting food down.
I had a very small article in the local paper, which really helped with the sightings as it reached so many more people and even slightly further a field.
I will keep my fingers crossed that you will find her soon :)
Flo
Try not to get disheartened jann, as spindle says shes is somewhere. Keep up the hard work looking for her and spreading the word, the more people know the better. I keep checking the local rescue sights for Sky and Oscar just incase. Fingers crossed you get another sighting soon.Have you contacted pirate fm to do a shout out on the radio? Im sure they would x x x x
Spindle
jann, keep looking she has to be somewhere.
jann
No sightings since Wednesday morning at around 7.30 (I got there at 9 after school run - typical) Spent all day there criss crossing fields, paths and talking to dog walkers and postering, went back Thur 7am and in the evening but nothing. Another call Thursday turned out not to be her grr. So all gone quiet, seem to be back at square one again, back again in the morning. Thanks for good wishes flo xxx
Spindle
Bumping because of sighting. Good luck. Have e mailed you.
Flo
Any news jann? Thats great you have a rough idea of where she is. I keep checking everyday to see if you have found her. Wish I could come and help you look, I am tied up at the mo x x x x x
jann
Thanks for that, am off to trawl the area now. Seems she's staying near the river and finding food so all good signs. To get back home she has to cross a river and a main road so maybe she's decided to stay put and wait for me to find her - and I will xx
Flo
Hi Jann, yes that dog was definitely a he and has now been reunited. Sorry Sky is still missing, thats great you've had sightings though! Really hope you are reunited with her soon xxxx
jann
Sky still missing but further likely sightings - yesterday evening at Newbridge near Callington, collie had a pheasant in her mouth and looked anxious. This morning collie seen in Haye Lane Callington, the lady recognised her and called her but she was very nervous and ran off. I got to the spot around half hour later but no sign of her. Spent few hours calling at farms, searching fields and asking people, scented area as in information sheet, now waiting ..... I think she's so nervous of people now, just need her back.
Can't see dog 28356 on site - has he been reunited, is he definitely a "he". I did go and check one dog in St Keyne that wasn't her ... Please look out for Sky xx
Unknown
I think that dog was taken to sky's owner because people who found it thought it was hers but it was not sky and has been handed to DW
Flo
Please can you rule out found dog 28356 (photo on site). Listed as male but could be wrong, found in Kirkland Bodmin, which is not too far from whre Sky went missing x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Hope she keeps safe and they are reunited very soon. Wish I could help search. I am sending love and prayers Sky's way.x
