Great to hear there's national interest in this story. The story has gained a lot of attention in Bristol - not least from BBC Radio Bristol, and the Bristol Evening Post. This is great for 'Dog Lost', the plight of staffys and other rescue dogs looking for homes, and Holly Hedge Rescue Sanctuary- just a great success story for all. So so happy that Honey is safe now - it's been strange walking the dogs, and not looking in badger holes, under logs, and checking hedges! Thanks for all your kind comments - we're more than happy to talk about this story to anyone - just so proud of Fizz! x

The Sunday people Newspaper has rung wanting to do a feature...Thank you Dinkydoodle for taking this up!

Just spoken to Jo, Honey has had dinner and was sleeping in front of a roaring fire when I called. The vet has said she's ok, but has ulcers in her eyes, so she has eye drops and antibiotics. YIPEEEEEE, I am absolutely over the moon that dear little Honey has been found! Well done Fizz (formerly Rocky from Holly Hedge) what a little star you are! I will have great pleasure taking all the posters down and emailing everyone we've sent details to to tell them this wonderful news. Stay safe little girl.x.
Alexandra
FOUND HER!!! Hi, Just saw this thread, and wanted to let you all know.. My partner and I sighted Honey on the 17th by the dear park, but unfortunately she ran away! We reported it, and met the owner to show her where so she could put posters there also. We've been back there every day since for an hour or more to check the woods and whole area with our two dogs (who have loved playing doggy detectives!) Amazingly, today we went and my rescue staffy x from holly hedge who I have had exactly a month today found Honey!! Fortunately she was entangled in some brambles, so wasn't able to escape, and after the initial fear she asked me to pick her up, then settled in my jacket until her owner came to get her - an amazing result all round! She is in shock, bedraggled, and needs vet treatment - which is where she was being taken to. However, she's amazing, plucky, and we're delighted - as with everyone else looking for her it bacame a personal journey to find her - probably because we saw her so early, and would appreciate the same from others if our dogs went missing - so excited, and hope her strength continues!!! My rescue staffy is getting special 'hero' treatment this evening - extra hugs and bones - we defo got a winner from holly hedge in Fizz(formerly called rocky!). Cheers:) Alexandra & Ian.xLast edited: 2011-01-27 19:11:05 by Angus

Discussed with Han-H areas to be covered. More posters going up in more residential areas and flyers being posted through letter boxes tomorrow and Friday.
Han-H
Animal Communicator feels that Honey's energy is still high and she isn't far from where she went missing. She feels that she is being fed by a lady, who hasn't seen a poster. She's not sure if she's inside the house, but she feels that Honey is very nervous and doesn't get too close to her. She has said that the property has a large square garden with a wooded area at the end, but it looks too suburban to be an actual wood. If anyone can think of an area that looks like this, would be good to check it out and maybe get some more posters up, especially if they mention the cash reward!
dinkydoodle
innthedoghouse - we have checked every inch of the 850 acre estate where these 2 little ones went missing as far as is humanly possible. Someone has been checking the area every day and there are lots of posters up and hundreds of flyers have been given out. We have extended the search in a wider radius and are in constant contact with the dogs home and local rescue. There has been a reward offered since last week. We just need to see Honey again, come on little one, show yourself.x.
innthedoghouse
Still worried about this little one, have you checked outbuildings, boggy ground, etc. Did you have any luck contacting the dog communicator psychic to help bring her back safe. Have an open mind to this, they found friend's dog alive. So sorry she is still missing. Has a reward been released just incase somebody has taken her. Honey please be strong and let somebody kind know you are safe. xx
DogLostAngus
So sorry that there have been no further sighting of Honey in the last couple of days - good luck to anyone who is out and about today looking for this little one - she is much loved
Han-H
Jane and I have been up at Ashton Court Estate all afternoon, giving out flyers. Most people we spoke to were already aware and had seen the posters. We've put flyers through the letter boxes of all houses that back onto the Estate and others nearby. You never know someone may find her in their shed or garden and not have seen the posters. We've also put flyers in the mailboxes of the nearby allotments. Fingers cross for a sighting soon.xx
dinkydoodle
Thanks nickyc for your help.
I've emailed vets further afield now in Nailsea and Portishead areas; also sent poster to Noahs Ark zoo farm and National Trust propery at Tyntesfield. Where are you little girl?
nickyc
Hi all,
I was up there again yesterday evening, about 3.30 - 4.45pm......nothing....sorry!
Nx
dinkydoodle
I've emailed Honey's poster to all the schools who have playing fields in the area and other dog walking companys in Long Ashton/Failand area. Come on Honey.x.
innthedoghouse
Hi, sorry no luck for you this morning, have you checked ponds and softer ground, bramble bushes etc within the park. It may be worth contacting the dog communicator, they told a friend of mine, they would find their dog in a barn and described the location. He was found asleep in the barn! They will help you with your search and help bring her home.
I own shih tzu dogs and mine would not run miles so she maybe in a smaller area close to where she was lost. I wish I was nearer to help, Wishing you the best of luck and lots of positive thoughts she is found. Feel so sad for you all.
doglover1
Myself and Dinkydoodle meet up with Kevin this morning and spent 3 hours searching Ashton court, walking round the park, Deer park, Park Rangers Huts where Honey was last seen and also all around the cottage area where she has been seen, food is also being left out for her. We also handed out loads of flyers to dogwalkers (most know of Honey missing ) Also put up many more large posters in areas not covered before but we had no sightings of her today ! We then went to Redwood lodge Hotel, Tennis club, Bristol & Clifton Golf Club, Longashton Golf club and Durnford Quarry all surrounding Ashton Court, leaving posters on notice boards, Staff member at the Quarry said he would tell all the drivers and also drive round the quarry himself to look for Honey. We really need another sighting now, please show yourself Honey.
Daisy
Good luck with the BBQ this morning, fingers crossed x
dinkydoodle
doglover1 and I are searching the area again in the morning and setting up a bbq, we'll be handing out more flyers and putting up more posters, come on Honey, we have sausages and bacon for your breakfast, see you then.x.
innthedoghouse
Also have lots of posters been put up in the area, these can really help. Keep in touch with dog warden, vets , etc. I really hope she is found safe today. xx
innthedoghouse
H, So sorry that Honey is missing. Have you spoken with Dogs Lost as they recommended a dog communicator (psychic) who found a friends dog alive and well. Gave the exact location. Positive thoughts and my heart goes out to everybody looking. Have you tried using a whistle as well as calling her name. Honey make yourself known to some kind person who will take you home, stay safe xx
Unknown
Poor deer, I bet Honey was really scared, hope she is found very soon
Han-H
Have been asked to make people aware that there was a deer cull yesterday. This may have frightened Honey away from the Deer Park, which is where she was mostly sighted. We understnad that the park rangers left some deer meat behind to tempt her, but we wonder if she may have moved further afield now? News of any sightings would be wonderful? Come on Honey... we want to get you home!xx
Kevin B
If anyone is available to help this afternoon at about 2.30 I am gong to search the area and try to find Honey
I am the original owners son and my parents are desperate to get the dogs to safety I will be at the Golf car park
Any sightings today?? please contact me with details on mobile number 07880 721312
Daisy
I think Popette is going to be the secret to catching Honey, good luck & hope you find her today x
dinkydoodle
thanks everyone for your suggestions, it is all really appreciated and we will be looking at trying various things in the next couple of days (but obviously hoping we will not have to). I searched the area this afternoon and nothing apart from a loose dog chasing the deer in one of the enclosures - needless to say I could not catch him so I hope we're also not looking for him tomorrow as well.
paddy
it may help to put Poppet's scent in the cage and around it...some of her pee, a blanket she has been sleeping on. That kind of thing.
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
oh I see dinkydoodle ...... i was thinking in terms of putting a trap in the barn where i noticed she had been seen going into but this would only be an option if she is still going in there.
Unknown
perhaps she will head back towards the barn later on.
nickyc
Just beware of the pond directly below the woods........I did check it this morning.
It is semi iced over, so perhaps everyone could just keep an eye on it please?

Nx
dinkydoodle
Pam, it's such an open area with lots of wildlife, it wouldn't be able to be monitored 24 hrs but it is an option. However, little Honey has been seen so hopefully Poppet will be able to bring her out. People still there searching for her, come on Honey, your turn now.
Thanks nickyc for searching earlier this morning.
nickyc
Went up to Ashton early at 8.15 and spent an hour and half there. Searched car park area and cafe, nearby woods, cottages and back yard area. No signs at the moment of Honey.

I wonder if the problem with a small trap would be all the extra animals around, badgers, rats, foxes.....
but it could be worth a try.

Sorry I wasn't successful!!

Nx
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Hannah I havent read back through all this thread but have you thought of trying to borrow a small dog trap or cat trap to catch her in ? Fingers crossed you get her back soon xx Pam
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Fingers crossed that now Popette has been reunited Honey will soon follow xx Pam
DogLostAngus
Popette has been captures this morning so we are now only looking HONEY - hopefully Popette may if walked on a long lead be able to lead the searchers to her
Han-H
Several sightings of Honey today in the Deer Park. She has also been seen coming out of the barn behind the cottage, where we believe she has been sleeping. Doug from the rescue has spoken to the people who live there and they have very kindly agreed to help. Doug has left a cage for them to sleep in, inside the barn and the people have agreed to put out some food for them. We're very grateful that they have shelter. Thank you to everyone for all your help. Lets hope we can get these girls home soon.x
dinkydoodle
Sighting of the girls earlier today in Ashton Court - absolutely fantastic news - will post when I have more info. Please show yourselves again.
If seen, please do not chase, thanks.Last edited: 2011-01-17 20:31:14 by dinkydoodle

I drove up yesterday (sister of Han-H)and met up with fosterer who showed where they had gone missing - Ashton Court Golf Course, entrance from Ashton Leigh Road. When you drive in, the 'golf club' is on the right and she walked to the left, to a small wooded area directly opposite, that you can see from the car park. She said that the dogs were let off the lead there and they shot off to the left to the wooded area. I searched there yesterday, but still no luck so far. I hope someone finds them soon!!
Han-H
Thank you to everyone for all your help. My sister Jane drove up today and has been in Ashton Court Estate this afternoon and is still up there searching.
dinkydoodle
I've sent posters to UWE Ashton campus, Ashton Park school, vets in Hotwells, I will take poster in to vets in Ashton tomorrw as no email addy, I've emailed a dog walking group I'm in and other friends, also posted on ItsaSrpingThing as they have many Bristol based members Come on girls, where are you?
DogLostAngus
Actual pictures of these two now on site
dinkydoodle
Thanks everyone for your help. We searched the whole estate as far as humanly possible all day (it is huge), put up posters on all entrances and other places and handed out 100 flyers to walkers and dog walkers. Holly Hedge has now been advised and I left a flyer with the park rangers who were already aware. We will be sending posters to the uni, school and business in the Ashton Gate area and also the schools who use the sports facilities the Leigh Woods end. If anyone else can spread the work then please do.
nickyc, if you would be available to hand out flyers tomorrow in 1 of the car parks, please let admin know and we can send you the flyers to print out.
jm, if you're near the area you suggested, please check for these 2.
thanks everyone, it is most appreciated.
jm
Have you searched around the pond areas across the whole estate? The mud is very soft at the moment and my dog became trapped in the mud recently! Will contact Holly Hedge sanctuary nearby.Last edited: 2011-01-15 16:23:27 by jm

I used to work for Bristol City council security services who are the people who lock the gates at ashton court and do patrols. I have just sent my friend an e mail to make all the security officers aware and keep an eye out. Hopefully with poster power and lots of dog walkers there over the weekend, fingers crossed these 2 will be found very soon. xx
dinkydoodle
when pics or similar are in could you put on 1 poster please? Thx.
dinkydoodle
Thanks Han-H, great the pics will be here for the posters, if you email admin or contact Doug they will give you my mobile no so we could co-ordinate search/postering in the morning.
The police have advised that as they do not deal with dogs any longer to contact the Bristol DW on 07792028235 - fosterer of these 2 has advised this has been done. Come on little ones.
Han-H
Thank you for all your help. I've emailed some photos of similar dogs to the admin email address. If the girls are not found tonight, I will also be driving up to help search for them in the morning.
doglover1
I will post and share on Facebook, I hope Honey and Poppette are home very soon.
dinkydoodle
I've just spoken with fosterer of Poppette and Honey and also co-ord of the breed rescue and offered advice. As soon as we have pics of similar dogs I will email the poster to the co-ord who if these little ones do not appear over night is coming to search the area tomorrow. I will contact him in the morning and can go to Ashton Court to help search and poster. I'm trying to contact the Avon & Somerset mounted and dog section who are based very near Ashton Court. North Somerset and Bristol DWs have been advised. I hope these little ones are found soon. Last edited: 2011-01-14 17:46:27 by dinkydoodle
