Hi Candy. It seems impossible that it is 2 years since our little ones went missing. I am so blest that we have Sue home, but we often think of you and Dolly. I am still amazed at how naive people - and even vets - still are about dog theft. Love Marian and Suzy xxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry that Dolly isn't home- your campaign has helped so many. Think the 'Check for a Chip' sticker would be great for vets etc. She deserves to be home after all you've done.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sad that you have had no news of little Dolly. Thought I'd just send this to everyone I know (including vets) wherever they are, but looking at the poster would it be possible if it could include the info. that she is microchipped, then if as many of us as possible send it to our vets they may get the 'check the chip' message.......we can only hope. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dolly you seem to have disappeared without trace, a man at the boot sale was talking to me the other day and he said there was no way you would be in this area as everyone knows about you, some consolation at least that we have made you as high profile as possible in this area. Hi Candy- I want to say that you are doing a truely great job for everyone and you must keep looking for your little girl. We all have to do what we can even if we try and its not for us or it turns out wrong. Our dogs are out there somewhere, and although its a been a while since I last came on here because I find it too painful , I havent given up looking for my lovely English Setter Boy Henry who was taken from me on 31/3/2004- cant believe how the time has marched on! It seems so long ago. I was disappointed that the vet magazine bought no results for us.I have been pre occupied over the last several months but wish to help you in any way I can to push Dolly's Directive - I will poster all the east side of Birmingham vets for you now as I am about to do a mail out for a rescue charity fundraiser. All the very best in this initiative - we all need your help. Thanks Denise on behalf of lovely HenryxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please all write to your local MP and the RCVS with a copy of Dollys Directive stating why you think it should be compulsory for scanning and checking for tattoos, quote cases that you know of where if the dog had been scanned it would have got back to it's owner more quickly or if you know a dog that was permanently id'd that wasn't checked. Just look at your own dog, isn't he/she worth taking the trouble to write a couple of letters? Thank you all for your support.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jo, when you feel you can get no more signatures then send it back. Remember to write to your local MP with a copy of Dolly's Directive and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. I wonder if it would be worth contacting one of the Pet Food companies to sponser Dolly's Directive? It would be good PR for them & help to get this campaign in the public eye. We have GOT to get all dogs scanned at every visit to the vet, we have got to get as much publicity as possible to achieve this, & to make the general public aware of the problem of dog theft. I wish I could help find Dolly, I live in SE Kent, but I can at least look carefully at every jrt I meet, her markings are so distinctive. Hang in there Candy, you are in my thoughts & prayers. Sorry Jayne, just realised what a stupid suggestion to look for dog's names beginning with a certain letter, people would have to go into each entry to see what the dog was called!! How about people concentrating on a certain month each? Sorry to put this on Dolly's page Candy. I'm not sure my pm's working and I'm hoping Jayne will see it on here. I will do some Jayne. If there are other volunteers how can we work it so that the same person doesn't get phoned twice? Maybe different people allocated a letter of the alphabet (dogs name) and work their way through the list? Wouldn't it be great to see the red list reduced. Let me know and I'll make a start straight away. SueLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Paul, have pm'd you. Josephine, well done for writing to the vets, we all need to stand together on this and maybe weight of numbers will convince everyone that this is the right thing to do. I am a bit embarrassed that Dolly is back on the front page as there are dogs out there that have been missing longer than her but Dolly is the reason I am doing this but it is not just for Dolly, although I yearn for her to be home, it is for everyone that has a permanently identifiable dog. The system is not being used to it's full capability and that is scandalous. The sheer mental torture of knowing your baby is out there somewhere and there is a means of getting them home that is not being utilised just adds to our grief and sorrow. I first read about Dolly in January when I lost my Springer and learnt about Doglost. I was lucky she was found 11 hours later. Dolly stood out to me because she looked so cute and I also have a JRT. He is 19 years old and sleeps most of the time but he has been such a character. It struck me when you wrote that you gave your heart to her and treated her like a baby coz I did the same to mine. To me they are special little dogs with big characters. I love looking in the blue to see the dogs reunited and have hoped to see Dolly. I thought I was too far away to help but I can help now. I will get as many signatures as I can and hope and pray that Dolly's Directive is a total success which brings Dolly safely home to you. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So glad you're doing something major towards getting vets etc to routinely check all new dogs for microchips-not just the strays that many of them do. I have so far written to around100vets in Essex/London/Kent saying they really must, with so many stolen/rehomed dogs and to be aware that some chips are only picked up by some scanners and many are missed or have moved. Time for as close to a foolproof system as possible! And lets hope havingDollyon the frontpage helps get her home. Its high time she was! 'Poppy'10.10.05Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I saw Dolly in the adver tonight Candy, I'm still looking for her for you. I was in town last week and saw a male JRT and thought he was on his own as wasn't on a lead and no tag, I followed it for a bit and then told my bf to hold my things as I went to pick it up to take to vet to be scanned, as I done this owner turnt around and called it, I couldn't believe it, anyway I carried on following them as owners didn't look too responsible, they went into a cafe, told the dog to sit and it just waited, I waited with the dog, was so gobsmacked, they took about 10 mins, people just walking on by looking at the dog, then they finally came out and walked off and the dog followed, Sorry for the long post. Come home Dolly, Jo xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sarah I despair, until all people who come into contact with a dog are compelled to scan or check for tattoos then I feel that the chances of us getting them back are just that - chance - With the police readily giving up all responsibility for lost, found, stray dogs the scenario is even bleaker. I am eternally grateful to any police force who actively help at the moment but feel increasingly beaten by the system. I just want Dolly home where she belongs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've only relatively recently found this site - I'm not local to Wilts or any possible sightings, but I've looked at piccy of Dolly - she is very distinctive - and committed it to memory! Thank you seeking balou, I am hoping that because she is so distinctive that someone will recognise her one day soon and she will be home with me, the loss just drains me - not just emotionally but physically too - but so many people on here are in the same situation that we all hopefully support each other when authorities and the law fail us. Also the encouragement we all get from the helpers who have not lost a precious pet but show endless support is uplifting and means more than they can ever know. Just to know someone else cares and that there are another pair of eyes looking for our dogs gives so much hope that our babes will be found and be back home where they belong.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My friend Linda rang me late morning on the 10th Feb. and said she had been out to do her weekly shop and was going to go straight home but detoured to another shop and when she was waiting to pull out of the car park she was aware of someone passing behind her car. Then there was a frantic banging on her window and it was the person who had walked behind her car. My friend keeps a poster of Dolly in the back window of her car and this woman said she was sure she had seen her a couple of months ago with a homeless girl in Oxford and had also seen her recently. She had held the girl in conversation and the girl had said she was given the dog by gypsies near Blunsdon race track (greyhound track), she said she thought the dog was about six years old but other than that didn?t seem to know much about her, the woman stated to my friend that the dog only looked about 18 months old to her and she thought it strange that she didn?t know much about her. The lady knew the girls name and gave a description of her and suggested that we go to the police station to see if they knew of her. My husband and I finished the horses (it seemed to take ages but it had to be done) and made our way to Oxford. We went immediately to the police station and spoke to a policeman on the front desk, he made a few phone calls and asked questions and there is a girl of that name and she does have a dog fitting the description. He took poster and flyers to distribute along with Dollys? chip number and crime number. He said the girl hadn?t been seen for a few days but that she was known to the police and he would prefer us not to distribute posters for fear of scaring her off but that they would bring her in and scan the dog. He also said that we obviously loved her very much which as you can guess reduced me to tears. We said we would walk around Oxford in the hope of seeing her and he said if we saw her and we thought it was our dog to ring 999 immediately, I questioned whether the call opeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I would like to wish you all a very happy new year. I wish that all of us with missing dogs will find peace and happiness and that the new year brings many of our babies back home to us. Thanks go to all the people who do not have missing pups but have beauty in their souls and constantly support those of us who do. I have to be selfish and beg that Dolly comes home to me. I very much doubt that I would have found Doglost if Dolly had not gone missing, some things do happen for a reason and maybe one day I will be in a position to help just one person get their beloved pet back. Bless you all. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The police are a f*****g waste of time. Candy, don't you ever give up. I will be postering the woods again this week, probably Wednesday or Thursday. The man who wrote that letter obviously doesn't own a pet, or if he does, he doesn't deserve to. If it was a human being he wouldn't be saying that so he obviosuly doesn't know how precious our dogs are to us. Once again, don't give up. Come home for xmas Dolly. I'm sorry the police have taken that approach Candy, I was told to p..s off & face facts back in May too. I couldn't do that until I had a solid answer which I now have. I'd have never stopped the search without it & no-one else with a missing dog would too - I think the police need to re-think their attitudes & procedures to dog theft - lets face it - it isn't even a crime category !!!!!!!!!!! on another note can you pm the details of the reverse thing I gave you on Kujo's page please - it mught help with the number that she has. thanks Candy Nikki xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I wrote to the chief constable of wiltshire on 5th Oct., he didn't reply in person but I have now had a reply from an Inspector at Swindon police station, here is an extract of that letter.........'I am satisfied that officers from Highworth Police Station have given you as much assistance as they reasonably could in trying to locate your dog. It is regretted that she has not been found. I firmly believe that the advice given to you by PC Miles i.e. that your dog has been missing for so long that it was perhaps time to move on, was sound at the time and now that nearly 10 months have elapsed since Dolly Mixture went missing, I think that that advice was very wise............I would like to emphasise that the Wiltshire Constabulary takes such reports seriously but the nature of police work being what it is, means that we cannot always devote the level of resources that we would like to investigate incidents of this type. Other incidents occur and priorities change. Burglary dwelling, violent crime and investigating and detecting drugs offences for example are ever present priorities.' (All crimes that are associated with dog theft as we all know on Doglost).....'I believe that the officers in Highworth have listened carefully to your concerns and have given you the appropriate advice and level of support. The investigation is now closed.'Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Fritz's mum, just ask everyone you know to add Dolly to the list of missing dogs they look out for, it is a lot to ask people I know but it is now the only way I will get her back is if someone somewhere sees her, even if they only think it looks like her it is worth contacting me. princessjo5 we can make more people aware of the situation by actually speaking about it to anyone who will listen, the more helpers we have in the swindon area the more likely we are to get dogs back. Also posters to make people aware of which dogs are missing, when a dog goes missing in this area I immediately print the poster when there is a picture and put one at countrywide at blunsdon and take one to Drove vets in abbey meads, at least then people will see they are missing, if we all did this in at least a couple of places then the more chance of them coming home. Also I am having trouble with the hotmail address you gave me, have you got a different email I could use?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Candy, I hope this don't upset you but I just wanted to say to everyone that our rate of finding lost dogs in Swindon is VERY POOR, this makes me angry but I don't know what to do about it. Attended the summit at the kennel club hq today with Jayne, Margaret, Laura and Nikki. There were many sympathetic organisations represented, Pet-id, National Tattoo Register, Rspca, Waterside Action Group (they are specifically involved with puppy farming issues) and probably some I have failed to mention and I hope they will excuse me as it has been a long day. Ian Cawsey MP chaired the meeting and he seemed a genuinely nice man who is really concerned with the heartache we are going through. Lots of our advisers were there - Nick Mays, Allen Parton and Endal, Viv Phillips who lost her pbgv's a couple of months ago and was reunited with all of them, Clarissa Baldwin from Dogs Trust, a really nice lady who is with the pdsa and I have forgotten her name! sorry and probably more that I just can't think of at the moment as it has been a long day. Lots of issues were raised, Nikki had a chance to speak about Jesters Law and the wonderful progress she has made on this. I'm afraid I did rather a lot of talking and people had to excuse my emotional state but I had things to say and this was my opportunity to say them. The Kennel Club gave us the warmest welcome and wonderful buffet lunch and some of us even got a tour of the kc in the afternoon! I hope with all my heart that some good will come of this, I don't want people to go through what I and many others have been through and there are some really basic procedures which can be put in place such as all vets/charities/rehoming centres having to compulsorily scan and check for tattoos all animals passing through their hands. A petition has been started for people to sign on this issue, hopefully it will be able to be signed online shortly. Thankyou everyone for the constant support you give to me which keeps me going through this nightmare and to Jayne for establishing this wonderful website, there is no other website like this one for it's comeraderie and support. Well as my train wasn't due for at least another hour after everyone elses I stayed behind on the stall on my own, managed to get more signatures for Jesters Law, sold more wristbands for doglost, handed out postcards and got signatures for the new petition to make it compulsory for all vets, rescue centres and charities to scan every dog/cat/pet that passes through their hands not just strays. The amount of people that were amazed that this was not already done proves that this is an issue that needs to be addressed and lots of them went away vowing to ask their vet if they scanned autuomatically all patients through surgery. This is what we want, the more people put this to their vets the more likely we are to get the microchip/tattooing system working to it's full ability. This petition complements Jesters law and targets the area where I feel I have been let down. It is only when you become the victim of a system that is failing to work that you realise something has to be done. As everyone knows I am easily moved to tears but the lady today who burst into tears when I showed her Dollys picture really touched my heart, I am sorry she felt so much pain but I felt so moved by it. Thankyou to everyone who took the time to queue and sign the petitions. We will make a difference. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you so much Bob. Hope something happens soon, I am going out of my mind, it is almost 9 months now, I'm still crying for my little girl and made a fool of myself in one of the stores today whilst looking at a beautiful dog blanket that would have been lovely for Dolly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

princessjo5 I have absolutely no idea where Dolly is, there have been no positive sightings of her, I have always felt she was taken out of the area as we live on the main A419. If she isn't out of the area then she is being kept somewhere remote where outsiders don't go. One man rang me up and said he had a dog fitting Dollys description and agreed to let me see the dog but he never got back to me and all I have is his phone number, when I ring he won't answer it and doesn't reply to any messages I leave either. How can people be so cruel.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Candy have only recently found out about doglost, it scares the life out of you to know that there are some awful people out there that would steal a dog to either sell on or hold for ransom. I have 2 shelties which i adore and love so much and now i fear for their safety. This site has made me more awhare of lots of things now. I dread to think what you and other people in the same position are going through let alone the dogs that have been snatched and what trauma they must feel, my heart goes out to you all, our pets whatever they are, are not just pets they are family and when you loose them like this or other ways it is like loosing a loved one, only a true animal lover will understand this. Having read on this site comments made and how helpful you all are restores a little faith in the human race. I do hope that Dolly is reunited with you soon ,as i mentioned earlier she is truly a beautiful little girl just like the people on this site who are all there for each other in these difficult times. Although i live the other side of the country if there is anything i can ever do even if it is for a chat please let me know. Thinking of you all LOL KarenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

princessjo5, I postered all around Greenbridge twice and the poster police took them all down, they just do not like posters around there, it is kept very clean. I felt the town centre would be the same although the petshop did take a poster and display, the shops in town say it isagainst there policy to display posters although I sent posters with begging letters to all pubs in our yellow pages and thomson local (about 500) so hopefully some of those in town displayed it. We postered both Asdas. morrisons, tescos and Sainsburys at Stratton and Bridgmead , all twice but the poster police worked there as well. Thanks for your thoughts, please feel free to poster any area you think as all postering was done largely by myself and the swindon area as you know is vast. Thanks again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry Candy i just want to put this message on your page (as you have many looking on here) Just in case someone knows of this dog...... I was coming back home late afternoon today along the road back to Aldbourne, Wiltshire there was a little black whippet (i think it was a whippet, a very small head compared to her body is the first thing i noticed) running along the main road. I stopped and he/she stopped. It looked scared and as i gently whistled to see if he/she would come to me he/she ran across a field and then straight across another field. Running but not knowing where he/she was running to. There was NO owners around so it makes me think he/she may have been dumped or lost. If i could have caught him/her i would have taken him/her to the nearest vets to be scanned e.t.c. I can't stop thinking about the dog. Where it was running to is anyones guess as it is only fields around there. (And main roads!!!)I have looked on here under whippets and whippet cross, but no pictures look like the one i saw. It is quite frustrating as it could have belonged to someone on here. I have put this message on here as i don't really know where to put it. Thanks for this. x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As others have said you are not alone and people are looking every day. I will email this to my brother who lives in Swindon and he can possibly forward it on to other people. Just had a thought.... I don't know if you know the Shepards Rest, it's on the main road from Wanborough to Baydon. Well along there just before and after the tunnel there are fields/paddocks that are smack bang on the M4. I was up at one of the houses there two weeks ago asking about Lilly. The other main building around that area is North Farm. Would you like me to go and ask about the area and what belongs to who? I go pass there everyday to work. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi candy bloody well said - I cried all day long as you know & as for the lead you cannot follow up remember this - I was banned from talking to or even tracing the lorry crews that took possibly Jesters body from the A1. So I just got so cross at being told no that I went and found them anyway and actually they were very helpful indeed. Whatever is stopping you from following up a lead, let me know, maybe we can work out a way in which you can follow it up, either post it or pm me. As most of you who access this site are aware I went to the DTA dog theft symposium at Edmondscote Manor, Leamington Spa today. The speakers were wonderful, there was laughter and an awful lot of tears. Everyone there today was there because they wanted to be, everyone there had a point to put across, questions they wanted answers to and I think that by late morning everyone there realised that we all want to work together, this isn't about personality clashes or egos it is about getting dogs back with their RIGHTFUL owners. Issues were raised and some issues were clarified, especially the one whereby a microchipped dog can be legally rehomed if the chip is not found and I will have no rights to my dog. (something needs to be done there). From the time Dolly went missing I have had people treating me like I was 'strange' because I would not give up on my puppy. This past few weeks has been particularly difficult because I have a lead that I cannot follow. Listening to the speakers today who are from all walks of life, media, entertainment, breeding, wardens brought home to me one thing that has made me more determined than ever to continue to search for my beloved puppy:- IT IS OK TO FEEL THE WAY I DO, I AM NOT STRANGE, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE, I AM NOT AN HYSTERICAL HOUSEWIFE, WHAT I AM FEELING IS PERFECTLY NORMAL AND ABOVE ALL ACCEPTABLE. Just because a few people in authority would like to wash their hands of Dolly it doesn't mean they are right it just means they can't be bothered. I have every right to continue to search for my dog and to expect people in authority to respect that right. Peter Purves said (and I am not quoting because I can't remember verbatim) that we have every right to expect the government etc to take the loss/theft of our family members (pets) to be taken seriously and criminals apprehended. I had difficulty holding back the tears, I wanted to stand up and shout 'Thank you Peter'. I AM SANE ( oLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you everyone, I'm crying (again!!!). I want to get some statistics to send with the vet letter so that we don't just sound like 'hysterical women' and then we'll hit the vets in as many areas as we can. I believe a letter has more impact then an email but realise this involves more cost so we will all do what we think best.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I spoke with friend tonight and he suggested that maybe if you got a map of the area of M4 you want then type a duplicate letter to the farms along that route as apparantly alot of farmers these days want money to have things like that in their field. (long winded if you ask me) I could help you if you wish. You tell the me the area of the M4 you want and i could get the farms addresses in that area (as my partner has a load of land maps) then at least you would be half way there. How about in the middle of the magic roundabout Swindon! That would be interesting to see all the drivers trying to negotiate the 5 roundabouts whilst looking at your sign. Our friend goes around alot of the fields like Shefford Woodlands etc by the motorway and he knows a few farmers as well. I'll ask him tomorrow and see what he says. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If anyone looks at Dollys' page today could you please be aware that DTA have their dog theft symposium coming up on 1st October at Edmondscote Manor, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. There has been a lot of media coverage of late, come and air your views. Dog theft is a matter that relates to all of us whether we have lost our babies or not. It will also be a chance to meet many of the Doglost and DTA team in person, they would love to meet you and put faces to names. We must all work as a team and show the authorities that we are united in our quest to make dog theft not only illegal but something that will be harder to do because there are so many of us out there helping to eradicate it. In order to do this we must ALL show our support for Doglost and DTA and make the effort to go to the symposium. There will be media coverage there and we could fill Edmondscote manor to overflowing. Come on!! will it really be so hard for you to make the effort?? Every pup on this website needs you to be there. Candy Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Come on!! will it really be so hard for you to make the effort?? Every pup on this website needs you to be there. Candy Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Candy - you are doing a great job for Dolly and for DTA - if you get a response from Ben Bradshaw please let DTA know what he says. thank you also for your posting about the Symposium. You are absolutely right -everyone who posts on this website needs to be aware of the facts surrounding dog theft. Margaret DTALast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I would have come to Leamington Spa, but am on holiday. When Suzy came home, I suggested a much needed break to Antigua, but my husband wanted to go to Wales and take Suzy with us. So, we are in Pembrokeshire!! - Hell, who wants to go to Antigua anyway. My MP was very concerned, but, more about the theft of my car than the dog I think. Candy well done for getting a response from him - shame he won't sign - YET - perhaps if more of his constituents write to him urging him to do so and opening his eyes to the real world of dog theft and what owners are facing he may see the wider and very important issues involved and sign. I have just received a reply to my letter sent to my MP Michael Willis. (which I sent along with nine others signed by fellow dog lovers in this constituency). In it he states that he does not sign early day motions as he is not convinced of their contribution to Parliamentary debate!!!!. He does go on to say he has written to Ben Bradshaw (animal welfare MP) with my concerns about stolen dogs and will write to me as soon as he receives response.

There will be media coverage there and we could fill Edmondscote manor to overflowing. there is a possibility that Dollys' colouring may have got lighter on her face although her breeder and I don't think it would have and I saw her 'twin' from the litter a month or so ago and she hadn't lightened up.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for your message about my similarly distinctively marked and microchipped dog Connie the Staffy from 8 Jan this year. Dolly is even more distinctive I think. I have family who live in the Westbury area of Wiltshire - do you want me to send them a colour poster of Dolly? I would be glad to - they have a bookshop in Westbury and should be willing to put up a poster as they are dog lovers. Connies MumLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Candy, yes it was so very sad reading about all those dogs on the blue pages that have crossed over to rainbow bridge. Really depressing. Glad you got some more press coverage for Dolly, shame the photo was wrong. Wearing a Dolly t-shirt is a brilliant idea! Wish I'd thought of that at the beginnng of summer when I attended all the country shows / events. Do try Your Dog mag, though it did take them quite a while to get Luci in. But definitely worth it. And please only send them a portrait photo, not landscape or Dolly will be cropped! Good luck on you search, take care...Sam x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Candy i can only say i know EXACTLY what you mean, people think i am pursuing a hopeless cause soon and should just give up, but Jake was my dog, i was given him as a gift, he was mine! Someone came along and STOLE him from me, they had no right to do that, he is mine, and i will fight to get him back! My feelings are still there for him, i may have Murphy but Jake was my dog, my little bundle of mischief, no one elses, and for someone to think that they had the right to take him was a complete mistake on there part, because for every sighting, for every phone call, i will follow it up and i will find him, if not today, then one day!!! I know what you mean about the dream, i had a dream that when i went to the Oxted and Edenbridge, i saw him there, but i too think this is wishful thinking! Please never give up Candy, our dogs need us, and if you need to talk please just pm me, i know how you feel and i/all of us are here to support you! Dolly, I'm up to spend another day without you, you should be here with me playing and causing havoc, you were just learning to sit when you were taken from me, you would get confused and lay instead of sit and then refuse to move until you had your treat. If you could you would get upstairs and I'd hear you excitedly thumping around (although how anyone so small could sound like a baby elephant I'll never know), I'd go to the bottom of the stairs and say 'Dolly is that you up there?' and you would come to the top of the stairs and just give a little squeak and wiggle excitedly, oh what I'd give to have you thumping around upstairs Dolly, come home baby girl please.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Candy - as I scrole through the pages of dogs that are missing, I always notice your messages of support and encouragement for the other devasted owners. You do know that we haven't forgotten or given up on Dolly - and won't until she is back in your arms? Although I personally am rather far from your area, it doesn't stop me looking around my local dogs home here (just in case). Dolly really is Dolly by name and a Dolly by nature. I don't think I will ever give up but I just don't know which direction to turn and I am so angry that vets don't scan every animal that passes through their surgeries, charities aren't obliged to scan and some don't even posess a scanner - how dishonest is that? Went to Swindon pound yesterday Dolly as they had a dog there that possibly matched your description, it was not you, she was really sweet how come no-one has claimed her she has been there a week! The Warden was positive it was not you but we went to see anyway just to put our minds at rest. The wardens are still looking for you Dolly, they want you to come home to me where you belong. Come home soon Dolly please.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh Candy..... my heart really goes out to you. I wish that i could make everything alright so that you could both be together and happy again. I may not be on here every single day but i do think of you a lot and everytime i come on here i always look at your page and the reunited page just in case. Whenever i am out and about especially as i go to Wanborough everyday i do look out in case i do see a JR. Just like i stopped turned the car around and went back up the hill to stop and question that man with a JR Pup. Even though it was not the right age for Dolly or her pups (if she has any??) i just had to stop and ask. I don't know whether you found out the Jenny that was breeding them in Covingham? Take care till next time. Jockette x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

well Dolly, there have been a sum total of four viewings on your page since I made a note of the number yesterday and I think those were actually me baby girl. Don't know if there are any helpers in the glos., stroud areas at all but I WILL keep searching for you baby but if I don't have any leads it is all going to be needle in haystack. Dolly I saw one of your sisters yesterday - the one that looked most like you- my heart was in my mouth for a second but her face is totally different to yours. I tried to convince them to have her chipped or tattoed and they were like weellll we have been thinking maybe...... I tried to tell them how bereft they would be if she went missing but I suppose they just think it won't happen to them. Oh Dolly the first thing I did when you came home was have you microchipped, you are the only one of your brothers and sisters that I still know (6) that is microchipped. Why did it have to be you going missing baby girl I did everything right. Just spent most of yesterday afternoon crying over you. Please come home to me safe and well Dolly, come home soon. It wasn't as easy as 'Could you send me one please' I had to beg for the one i had. I had to say that if it was sent to me with a invoice for ?60 then it would have been sent straight back. They sent me a 2004 one and no invoice. Fantastic book though! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Candy, just forget the police and all the "officials" the only people who actually care are the people who have had a dog stolen! We need to be strong and keep together, all help eachother, lets face it, nobody else will help us. JustineLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Laura, maybe these officials just don't like people (Doglost) being given credit for outlining this problem when it should be them that have all dog owners interests at heart and not just the chosen few. I don't understand why they would not put the interests of all dogs first, surely that is what they are there for, not to say the problem is no worse than it has ever been and by those words implying it is of no importance.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

BBC Radio Swindon interviewed me on air yesterday morning in their studio along with Jayne via telephone, they also interviewed Jayne on BBC Radio Wiltshire just before. They then continued to run Dollys' story and the effects of dog theft on almost every hourly news bulletin. At some point during the day they interviewed someone from the kennel club - Caroline Tiscoe?? poss. - who proceeded to say that she didn't think that dog theft was any worse than it had ever been it was just getting more publicity lately, also that a lot of dogs weren't stolen just go missing!!! where are the dogs then??. I hope she never has to go through what I have been through these past months. I lived on a large housing estate when I was young and there were many dogs on that estate and I don't remember any of them going missing and I knew all the dogs as I have always loved them. Many thanks to BBC Radio Swindon and the presenter Peter Heaton-Jones. If you are in this area give them a ring and thank them let them know you appreciate their coverage. Come home Dolly Home, home, home!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can't get on to DTA website, I think it's because I'm using my friends computer.......Have had some withheld number phone calls that were silent up til this afternoon, the 'gentleman' involved said I looked very nice on the telly the other evening and wanted to know what I was wearing now! I disconnected the call. My husband went quiet (not a good sign, Phil Mitchell lookalike except when he gets mean he ain't actin!). There are some really strange people out there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am 'borrowing' a friends computer (Dollys breeders) as mine blew up today in the thunder storms. I may have trouble getting on to the website this weekend. On the upside BBC Radio Swindon have asked me to appear on Mondays breakfast programme with Jayne. I presume they will telephone Jayne but they want me to go into the studio as I am local. Will do anything to make more people aware of Dolly, I even sent one of Dollys t-shirts to Michael Eavis in the hope he would wear it over the weekend at glastonbury.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A local postman (Gary) that I spoke to months ago rang today and said he saw a man with a dragging along a jrt last Saturday, he was calling it patch, when postie got home he read the Advertiser and Dollys' story and thought maybe the dog was Dolly. He can't really remember much about the dog but I will have to poster the Penhill area again although I plastered it a while back with ?500.00 reward in big red pen all over them. I put them in the post office and local shop and pubs and clubs on the estate, also on many lampposts. My printer is broken at the moment and we are waiting for someone to build us a new computer so am having to beg posters off people. Gary (the postie) kindly offered to deliver A5 flyers of Dolly on his round for free, that will be 200 although not on the penhill estate. He has also offered to do this for a girl who is doing a parachute jump for her brother who was badly injured when attacked in Swindon town. What a lovely man!! there are still good people out there. Thank you Gary.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you Jayne for contacting me this afternoon. The gentleman concerned rang me and is sure the dog he has is not Dolly. Perhaps Breezes' owners could forward you the photo to put on the found page, maybe someone will recognise the dog and their heart will be mended. On 27th april a girl helpfully posted on Dollys' page about a friend of hers finding a jrt and handing it in to the police station, as it was evening I went straight to police station in centre of town, they had no jrt's handed in that day. I went back home and rang the dog pound which also happens to be my vets, they had nothing that fitted Dollys' description so I had to wait 'til morning to ring the dog warden, the dog warden had not picked up anything from the police stations. I went back to the girl who had posted on this page and she tried to contact her friend but had to leave a message on her answaphone. This dragged on for weeks with no joy, all I wanted to know was where this dog was taken so that I could eliminate it from my enquiries. Eventually in exasperation I contacted the police and explained everything and asked them to make enquiries which they did willingly. The people who picked the dog up were on holiday so I had to wait another week but we finally found out that the dog was taken to the police station in town but as it's owners had already phoned to say it was missing it didn't go in the found book, the owners picked up their dog and went home. (lucky people). Thankyou to all involved, the original girl for taking the trouble to log on to this site and the policeman for pursuing the enquiry and a thank you to the person who found the dog and took it to the police station so that it could be reunited with it's owner. thanks Kerry, I like to think I would do the same if I saw a dog I thought was missing. I think now it is the only way if we are all aware and ask questions and even if we don't grab the dog then we should turn detective and follow the people back to their cars and take the number plate or something.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Aww thats sad Candy I take it Angel was an older pet of yours. You know Candy Im a big believer in fate and life after death. I think maybe Angel died to show Dolly the way home. Followed up a couple of 'leads' yesterday and the day before which came to nothing but have to check out everything, trouble is people ring you hours after they've seen a dog running loose and you have to go out and hope this dog is still there but we go and hope to see something but the dog is always long gone by then. Why do people just drive by a dog that is running loose on a busy road.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Kerry, We weren't going to have a puppy as I didn't know if I would ever get over my previous JRT's which had been gone 14 and 15 yrs ago. I knew Dolly from when she was a few days old but didn't actually pick her up for a cuddle 'til she was three weeks old, then something happened, something magical, I knew she was meant to be with us. From that moment on I gave her my heart - completely. I cry as I write this, I miss her so much, she is so special. Please come home to me safe and well Dolly dumplin'.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Jockette, lovely to meet you both yesterday. Another weekend gone by without our beautiful puppies, do these people know what they are doing to us? It does'nt matter how many times people say to me that my puppy is probably with someone who is giving her a 'wonderful' home my reply is always the same - how 'wonderful' are they that they would pick up a dog and not let the authorities know, they just choose to keep them 'cos they're lovely, if they wanted a dog that much then why don't they go out and buy their own and have it microchipped and vaccinated instead of taking ours and making out they have done this 'poor abandoned/stray dog a big favour by taking it in'?. Dolly I love you please come home to me safe and well.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't worry Justine, every few weeks I email 'Dollys' contacts' to keep them aware that Dolly is still missing. I decided from the beginning that people were not going to forget she is missing and quietly keep plugging away. I may not be the sort of person who inspires people to get galvanised into action but I have a lot of stamina and just keep plodding on steadily. If you look a bit further down the page you will see some of the people I have contacted but not all and the list is steadily growing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Aww Candy I really wish you well in your search. I always look at dogs on the lose. I always alert owners some are not so greatful. Me and my kids spent 2 hours trying to catch a Bedlington Terrier. It was only young thought we were playing with it, bless it. Knew where the dog lived it was local. Took it home only to be told. It always goes out just leave it. A beautiful dog worth alot of money if it falls into the wrong hands god knows what will happen to it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The advert I placed on Sat. said Dolly went missing 6th April!!! have phoned them and are waiting for them to get back to me. The email I sent them with details of ad definately said 6th Feb. I checked it before phoning just in case it was my mistake. Anyone who saw the ad. would have thought she was only missing for 3 days and wouldn't have connected her with any dog they have seen like her since Feb. Please come home safe and well to me Dolly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm glad you are not giving up, I am just so bewildered that there has been no positive sightings of Dolly, every lead I've had I have followed up or by a process of elimination found that it was not Dolly ie. found dog has tail whereas Dolly is docked or found dog has patches on body whereas Dolly is white with black flecks or speckles through body. Where do our puppies disappear to?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm not going to give up on Dolly even though some well meaning people said I should 'move on' as 'life goes on' last night when we were out. I know they mean well but I will not push Dolly aside, she is in my thoughts every waking hour, I sit with her bed and toys on my lap, they still smell of her, most nights I take her bed into our bedroom and leave it by my side of the bed. The two ads. I placed Thurs. and Sat. have brought no response but I know she is out there. Please, please come home safe to me Dolly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have mailed every infant and junior school (state and private) in my yellow pages, don't know if all displayed but know two definately have. Have also mailed to Royal Mail sorting offices, vets, petshops, dog parlours, feed merchants, kennels, have contacted dog wardens in three counties, posters to all police stations in YP'gs. Dolly is on about 4 websites, have contacted TLO's in about six counties, have advertised locally, nationally and have just advertised in Wiltshire Daily Press and Wilts and Glos. Standard. contacted all dog agility groups in area and much more and I still think I have'nt done enough but it's slow going. I spoke to my local dog warden a few days ago about a supposed dog fitting Dolly's description being run over on a local housing estate which she hadn't heard of and thought it was just chinese whispers, but when I mentioned my puppy had gone missing 7 weeks ago (nearly 9 now) as a way of introduction she said 'this is the black and white JR puppy Dolly is'nt it' she said they see my posters everywhere and are all aware of Dolly and are looking out for her and that I am doing all the right things, I took some heart from that.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I advertised in the Countrymans weekly a couple of weeks ago and they did a really good sized ad with loads of words and pic for ?45. We didn't get any response but it is a good weekly for people with lurchers/labs/JRT's and springers as it covers the shooting community who love their dogs and would be aware of new dogs on their patch. contact. hello Alfiesmum/justine, we can't all keep up with every pup that goes missing but thank you for posting, I have put posters in and around supermarkets but they have all taken them down now. Garages were a bit of a problem they didn't think they could do it except Sainsbury's Garage. We also have a little chef and burger king just down the road from us and they kindly displayed posters as well. I have placed three more ads this week slightly further afield and just hope they bring me some joy.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou justlou, twizz & mias mum, your support is greatly appreciated, there is something you can all do and that is look out for Dolly in your area, I live on the main A419 which is like a gateway to England with the M5 at one end and the M4 at the other. My Dolly could be anywhere. All these pups going missing makes you paranoid, I'm looking at every dog I see wondering if it fits the description of any dog on the website, obviously can't remember them all but can't stop myself looking anyway!.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Guys I'd be more than willing to put another poster together for other owners. I was originally going to put on 15, but i think the pics would have been a bit too small to be noticed. On Easter Monday some canine remains were found about 500 yds from our house, we gave them to one of our vets who took them back to the surgery and got all vets to look at them including my usual horse vet who knows Dolly personally, the overall opionion was that it was too big to be Dolly, I thought it was small enough but they said that when you have flesh and coat on top of the skeleton it would be bigger. I asked about DNA, vet text me today to say they can do analysis but only in America, she is finding out more.I've never felt that Dolly was dead, is this just wishful thinking, where can she be? there has been nothing, it is like she has disappeared off the face of the earth. I'm placing more ads tomorrow but feel so low. How can my beautiful puppy just disappear. Please, please come home Dolly. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spent last two afternoons and evenings trawling around seven fields area of Penhill housing estate and putting up posters, giving out posters to people I talk to and meet. A lady was in our local farm shop and saw posters and said she was sure she had seen Dolly in Feb. but because lots of dogs are just allowed to roam on the estate she didn't think much of it, I have asked loads of people in the area and a total of three people think they have seen a dog like her however the majority haven't. I laid a scent trail all around that area yesterday afternoon and kept squeeking one of Dolly's toys. I was given some very strange looks and people didn't want to be approached by me but were ok when they realised I was looking for my Dolly, I can't say I blame them as I was covered in hoover dust and looked like a bag lady in my work clothes. I was just doing what I had to do but had no real hope of finding Dolly, I feel really flat at the moment, is this normal when your pup has been gone for so long, my husband tells me not to get my hopes up and I just told him that they weren't I was just doing what I had to do. Please come home Dolly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

lorraine and jake yes i have seen the article in the advertiser but have had no response as yet, I have felt all along that someone has taken her away from Swindon as we live on the main A419 which leads everywhere! otherwise someone has her very close to home and is keeping her under lock and key. We did another search of the fields on the opposite side of the A419 on Friday just to make sure we had not missed any bodies, we found a newly dead fox but no Dolly.I WOULD ASK EVERY DOGLOST HELPER IN THE COUNTRY TO LOOK OUT FOR DOLLY SHE IS VERY DISTINCTIVE.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

bbc radio swindon rang me today as a presenter Shelley Keen had read a small article with picture that the evening advertiser had run on wednesday, they spoke to me on air about dolly, trouble is I've heard some of their telephone interviews and the sound quality is pretty dire and as I have trouble keeping my emotions in check I fear I may not have done the opportunity justice but just before she went off air she mentioned dolly again asking people to keep a look out. Feel that more people are aware of dolly now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Dolly's mum here to give a bit more background on Dolly. She was with my husband on our own land, he was putting out hay for the horses and she was having a whale of a time jumping all over it and playing, then the last two piles of hay he was putting out she went off for a sniff, when he had put the last pile down he called her and she was gone. We live on the main A419 and think that maybe someone picked her up thinking she was a stray but they haven't reported her to the authorities, she is very friendly, very beautiful and extremely cute, I know everyone says this about their dogs but my husband is a trucker and had started to take her to work with him on Saturdays and all the other drivers would always say "that is the cutest dog" or "that is such a lovely dog". We are going through mental torture thinking about her and can't help but be filled with dread thinking that someone unscrupulous has got her - puppy breeding farms in Wales comes to mind all the time. We used to breed JRT's and had the most fabulous dog and bitch, we lost our dog tragically, he was ripped apart by pit bull terriers, we lost our little bitch about a year later when she went missing never to return, that was 14 years ago now and I always refused to have another JRT because I felt they were so special and could not be replaced. Friends had a litter of puppies and we went to see them once a week from birth, they were lovely as all puppies are but I didn't want one, then when they were three weeks old I held Dolly for the first time and new immediately that I didn't want anyone else to have her, once that decision was made I gave my heart to her and have treated her like a baby, we are both bereft, please, please download the poster and keep it in your car so that if you see a young JRT like her you can check the picture, maybe take a picture with a mobile or camera and get in touch with us. We will travel anywhere to find her. Thankyou - CandyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
