Yeah I dont get it either?? Why couldn't Louis go back to his home & Family? How sad is that for all concerned? Does this sort of thing usually happen? Very kind what they have done for him, I'm sure the donations will be more than helpful to them. Just dont get why he had to be re homed elsewhere?

Glad to see Louis has recovered but don't understand why he couldn't go back to owners who clearly loved him? Some charities will assist with vet bills without demanding the dog is signed over to them - perhaps doglost should keep a list of these ot offer advice to owners in a similar position in the future.

Absolutely fantastic, I am so pleased that Louis has made a good recovery. Enjoy your new life gorgeous boy. xxx

Skibubsy so sorry you have not yet found your lovely girl Bella. The rescue who are caring for Louis are up in the Halifax area and if you are interested in offering him a home you would need to contact them direct. If you look on their website you wil see they have many dogs up for rehoming and no doubt in time Louis will appear on there too.
skibubsy
Total pleasure - i guess that bill is expensive. No news on Bella and we are bereft but we'd LOVE to give Louis a home when he is well enough to be moved. Where is he in the North east? Do let me know if you think we could be his forever parents!
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Skibubsy thank you so much for thinking ok Louis and donating to Tia. I have read the posts on Bellas page many times. Whilst on a visit to Kent 3 weeks ago I had to pass through London Bridge twice and Bella was in my thoughts all the time as I scoured the area from the window as much as I possibly could. I so hope you find her soon xx No Louis will not be returning to his owner and will remain with the rescue but hopefully he will make a good recovery from his injuries and be able to be rehomed in the future. We will keep updating with details of Louis progress and thankyou again for thinking of him.
skibubsy
Poor Louis - this story struck a chord with us as we are the sad owners of Bella who disappeared onto the train track in London Bridge station. We have just made a donation to help towards her operation. Do let us know how he is recovering. Will he go home to his owners when he is recovered?

Louis is now being cared for by Tia and we are keeping our fingers crossed he will make a good recovery. He is only a young boy and so deserving of the help he has been offered.
Have donated to TIA to help towards Louis vet bills. Keep strong Louis xxxx

Our latest update on Louis' condition is that he has been stable overnight at the vets.Louis has an injured ear, has a broken pelvis, and may have to have his tail amputated in addition to other injuries
If you can help with a donation to help towards the costs of Louis treatment please donate DIRECTLY to TIA GREYHOUND & LURCHER RESCUE . via the links on Louis page and NOT through the Doglost site<br

Thankyou Angus and ML!
This has been such a sad afternoon since the call from Louis owners with the news of Louis awful injuries. His owners have had to make the heart wrenching decision to give Louis a chance of receiving all the treatment and care he will need with such injuries and Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue will give him the very best chance of survival.
Thankyou SO MUCH Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue for helping this poor boy and without your unhesitating offer of help Louis' future was looking very grim! I will be sending my donation into you.
PLEASE DONATE directly to this wonderful rescue if you possibly can ! See links belowLast edited: 2010-11-17 21:37:35 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

this is so sad - poor Louis and his injuries and his owners who have had to make the decision to save his life by handing him over to Tia for care and treatment.

Tia greyhound & lurcher rescue stepped in without any hesitation to care for him and to ensure that he get the best possible chance in life - Hats off to you and THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.

I have made a small donation and by filling in the gift aid box the rescue gets the tax relief too - it takes just a couple of minutes using the link below.

We received a call from Louis's owner this afternoon that a similar dog had been found but suffering multiple injuries after being hit by a slow moving train Owner went straight to the vets and has confirmed it is Louis :-((( he is currently stable and receiving pain relief. Louis owner is devastated but also in the difficult position that there is no insurance cover for the vet bills. I contacted TIA GREYHOUND & LURCHER RESCUE who said WITHOUT HESITATION that they would take on Louis and ensure he gets the vet treatment and aftercare he will need so Louis will now in the care of TIA.
Louis owners have made the decision to hand over Louis to their care which is a very difficult one for them- but they are really happy and relieved that he will now get the lifeline that has been offered to him by TIA
Louis has lost an ear, has a broken pelvis, and will have to have his tail amputated in addition to other injuries - so we are really grateful to TIA for offering their help to Louis. They already have over 90 dogs in their care but Louis is a very lucky boy indeed!
If you can help with a donation to help towards the costs of Louis treatment please donate DIRECTLY to TIA GREYHOUND & LURCHER RESCUE . http://www.tiagreyhounds.org.uk/help.html
NOT through the Doglost site.

We are all keeping our fingers crossed that Louis pulls through his terrible injuries and makes a full recovery.
Bless you Louis xx

CP Thank you alerting us to this one. xx
Sadly the lurcher on Stray Aid isnt Louis and hope owners come forward for this found boy.
CP
Could you check out that young, broken-coated Lurcher on Stray Aid, Durham, web page; they've called him Seymour and he's up for adoption right now.

Met up with owner and his friend (and his dog)Sunday and walked through the fields again, checked all along the stream and the bushes and further up amongst the gorse for signs of where Louis might have been hiding out. We stayed until it was dark and put more chicken down near the garden where he was last seen but NOTHING - apart from a 3 legged fox :-((
The trap was brought up (thanks Pam and Neil) and is with Louis's owner currently, but hasnt been set as there been no further sightings at all since the 3 calls on 11th and need to get another confirmed sighting before we decide to set it as he could now have moved on or possibly been picked up. Owner is checking regularly with the stray kennels for Leeds/Calderdale dog wardens and going to put posters up further afield. An ad is also being put in the local paper. Hope he is sighted again !!

Owner has been checking the area morning and night but no further sightings of Louis since the calls which were 3 in the one day on 11th. I went over Saturday and walked the fields where the sightings had been near Portal Crescent and over towards Crossley Farm and also drove over to the other side Norristhorpe area and checked around there. Then went back to the area of the sightings, put chicken down and waited until it got too dark to see anything. Going back over again. Hope he is still in the area and he keeps safe.

Lots of SIGHTINGS of Louis around the area he ran off from !! Hope to get the trap up there tomorrow !

Have just spoken to owner. Louis is a rescue dog and they have only had him for 3 weeks. He was in the boot of the car and when owner opened the boot a firework went off close by which frightened Louis He slipped out of his collar and lead and bolted. Owner tried to follow him but lost him. He received a call to say there was a sighting at approx 1.00pm yesterday around the Fountain Pub at Robertstown so hopefully Louis is still in the area. Owner has been out checking around the area of the sighting and has got posters up and speaking to lots of people. Friend has been walking with his dog and checking around the fields close to the reported sighting. Dogwardens in the area have been notified--and owner has the details for the stray kennels in the area. Hoping for another sighting !
