thanks ellejay...have alerted owner.

My O.H was round his mums last night, whilst he was clearing the snow of his car, he saw a young girl dragging a black labrador across the top of the road, not the main road, his mums road off it, it was right oppposite Beckenham Leisure centre.
He said the dog didnt look happy.
Now this could just be due to the snow and the dog didnt wanna walk, but maybe worth repostering the area again, as soon as he told me i thought could this be Jet ?
He couldnt see the girl properly as she was all wrapped up in a scarf and hood up, and it was dark.

I spoke to Jet's owner today to tell him about Jet appearing in The Shooting Times. Of course, he is still hopeful that he will be reunited with Jet but tends to think that Jet found his way onto the nearby railway line. I reassured him that we at DogLost won't stop keeping an eye and ear out for Jet until we have information to the contrary.
Millys Mum
Have just tried to make contact but my call went onto an answerphone. I didn't leave a message as would prefer to know that the message definately reached the right person as I wasn't certain from the recorded message that it was the correct number for Jet's family. Will try again later.
Millys Mum
Thanks Sue! I will contact Jet's family in the hope that this will give them renewed hope.

Advertised in The Shooting Times magazine. Good Luck

I think that after all this time with Jet not having been seen with all the posters put out by all of you that he has either been picked up as a stray with no collar and kept by the person or that he got onto the railway at the back of my house and knocked by a train into the brambles on the embankment and not found by the railway workers. I have found that both of the two houses on the side that I think Jet jumped the fence have piled grass cuttings so high up the railway fence that he would only have to jump 2 feet to get over the fence and then it is almost impossible to get back as the places the foxes get under are to small for Jet. Thank you all for all the time that you have spent looking for Jet and postering the area I can only hope now that he is found by a vet checking for a chip. I feal with no sightings that he is not roaming, it is another rail death I say this with tears streeming down my face but a line has to be drawn under this.
ellejay
I popped into Tesco at downham high street tonight and saw one of jets posters, quiet a few people were looking at it, and some kids on bikes said they would ride around looking for him when they out.
So good work there, as it's always busy on the stretch of road with shoppers.
JC
Still lots of posters around Beckenham place park and locally but it does appear people like to take them off some places as with previous posters i have put up - I have a flyer with the phone number in my dogwalking jacket and recently met Jet's owner out flyering, doing all he can to find his dog. Peter - Please do send me some flyers - I have no printer at present I am afraid, but email address is jordijo2002@gmail.com and I can fwd you my address - I am out dog walking every day with eyes peeled.
peterh
No we have not put posters in these roads nor have we had any calls went to Battersea on Monday but no joy.
Millys Mum
ellejay - now that's very interesting. I wonder if they were Jet's posters (only 'Team Jet' or his family can confirm this) or whether it was a reunited dog or cat. peterh, could ellejay be referring to Jet's posters? Did someone poster in those roads?
ellejay
There are lot of posters ripped off trees and fences down Farnaby Road and Ravensbourne Ave in Shortlands... Farnaby Road also backs on to the BPPARK golf course.. now i do not know if these were Jets posters or anothers.... but someone has spent time taking them down..
I am still out daily looking for him round here and clockhouse area when out and about.. hurry up Jet and show yourself.
magda
I have never seen a News Shopper in St Mary Cray either that i swhy I had not contemplated advertising in it. Magda
Claireg
Any further news on Jet? Ive put posters up in my car in the hope of covering a wider area.
Does anyone have contacts with local radio? I could email a few and see if they could do an appeal on air?
Millys Mum
How irritating. It's a shame they didn't mention that point when you placed your ad! I wonder if we spoke to the same couldn't-care-less woman. Not that long ago, the deliverers were paid a decent sum - I believe around £18 but now I think they only get £10 per round, on average. The unhelpful woman at the Cheam HQ said they only pay the minumum wage! I went on to say that it seemed wrong that they had been awarded the contract from the London Borough of Bromley to display both planning and official Council notices and yet they couldn't actually deliver the newspapers to the local households. The was no response to my comment! Apparently we need to address our complaints to: Mr David Smith (not sure what his title is), Unicol House, 819 London Road, North Cheam, Surrey, SM3 9BM. I shall also be mentioning this to one of our local Councillors. Perhaps, on reflection, the Bromley Times will be the best bet in future. I might have a word with them next week and ask what theirs sales are in the Beckenham/Bromley area and what a comparable missing ad would cost.
peterh
I rang the newsshopper today to complain about the fact they did not distribute in my area the answer we cannot deliver everywere I asked if they would put a free entry next week in Lewisham and got big the NO so I do not recomend the newsshopper as its SALES not the customers they are interested in. Peter
Millys Mum
I must admit, I was really surprised by what ellejay said about it not being in the Lewisham edition. I really did think that ads like these appeared in ALL editions. We need to get clarification on this! I haven't managed to actually get a copy but a friend is saving hers for me (retrieved out of her paper bin!). We tried everywhere - 2 libraries, Sainsbury's, local estate agents, etc and was even prepared to pounce on an unsuspecting delivery person but ZILCH! I called the N/Shopper yesterday and had a moan & threatened to stop recommending them but the woman I spoke to at their Head Office in Cheam (I also tried Petts Wood & gave them an ear bashing!) couldn't have cared less but insisted it was delivered to 45,000 properties in our area!
Safedog Crash Tested Car CratesBaggy Dog
Ellejay - it is a shame. Peter - is it worth persuading the News Shopper to run the ad for free in the Lewisham edition next week?

Just seen the ad on the News Shopper E- EDITION... brilliant ad, well done, lets hope the Shopper will work its magic with Jet.
ellejay
I do not have the ad in My News shopper.. i wonder if its because it comes under the Lewisham edition... I still thought that ads like that would cover all of the shopper ?
Shame because i am very close to BPPark, where Jet could be, and if people here dont have the ad in their paper....

Still, it sall good thats its in the Bromley one, hopefully he will be home soon x
Safedog Crash Tested Car CratesBaggy Dog
Yes, News Shopper announcement is very eye catching - hope it does the trick. Came over to Cator Park today with my dobermann to see if she could work her magic. To no avail. Hope the Cator Park children have been covered as one of them must live somewhere near Jet's hideout, wherever that is.
Millys Mum
Am bumping this boy up as a lovely BIG missing ad on the Announcements page in this week's News Shopper - well done owners! Also saw a poster at the entrance to Kelsey Park on my way back from work. Hope you get the call you've been waiting for very soon.

Good news from the railway workers. Who knows if the wondering dog is Jet - maybe spend some more time up there - usually if dogs wander out you'll see them most days. Seem to recall a Westie on the loose last time I visited there.
peterh
I spoke to a couple of railway workers on Monday as they walked along the track they had not seen a dog, I asked them to inform the depotLast edited: 2010-11-03 10:57:36 by peterh

That's a great idea, my oh plays darts against there team, and yes they are very dog friendly, I love their dog, he's my little mate.
The verrander at back of club backs on to the course and it's a great place for a dog to hide out round there.
The regulars would probally tAke posters themselves as they very friendly people in there.
Millys Mum
Please drop a poster into The Foxgrove Club at the end of the unmade up part of Westgate Rd and just as you go into BP Park (Club House on right). The Club is right next to the golf course and they are VERY dog friendly and have a resident dog there. My neighbour is on the committee there and so will mention it to him and give him a poster. peterh - did you manage to track down the night or weekend maintenance crews and speak to them directly.
ellejay
I live round the corner from the golf course and i am constantly looking, i have been out everynight for the last 4 nights and am always driving slowly incase i see Jet.
So if there has been a sighting of a black dog here, can we get some posters up along the Downham High Street ?? This is very very busy, day and night, he may well be hiding around the back of the food outlets, like KFC, pizza hut, and all the other fried food places there..
peterh
I have dropped fliers to post office and checked with my posty today and he had seen them, I contacted the railway last Friday to check that my friend had done so on Monday (she had). They rang me back this afternoon to say that they had checked all area departments and none had reported a dead dog, so he told them to look out for it. I checked with the distribution department on the number of newsshoppers delivered in my area and the answer is very few as they cannot get the part time staff(pay to little?) So I think they only deliver 1400 in Beckenham. I got a call late this afternoon from a golfer who said that another golfer reported to the Pro Shop that a black dog was wandering on its own on the 17th. fairway 15 minutes before I was at BPPark in 5min. walked course then the Park in the dark with my dog whistle that he will come to if he is within 100yds and my spaniel (She would sniff him out) but no luck I will go back in the morning. Was it Jet or just a black dog from one of the houses backing on to the course?
Safedog Crash Tested Car CratesBaggy Dog
Sorry Jet's still missing. Very strange that there have been NO sightings, as there are lots of posters up around the place. Peter - have you contacted the railway people? An awful thought I know but hopefully you could discount that? If someone does have him then hopefully your News Shopper notice should flush him out. Certainly hope he's found before Friday.
Millys Mum
peterh thanks for the update albeit not the news we would like to hear. I'm so sorry to hear that Jet is still missing and worrying, as you say, because of his fear of fireworks. Like you, I just hope that someone has picked him up, taken a shine to him (not realised that they are breaking the law for not reporting finding a dog!) and keeping him safe. Did you visit the Royal Mail sorting office at Elmers End and leave them with a couple of large posters plus a stack of mini-flyers for ALL posties to carry with them on their rounds and for customers collecting packages/parcels from them???
peterh
Hi All Sorry to say we have not had any calls on a sighting of Jet, thank you all for putting out the many Posters, I have just been to staples for more paper and laminating pouches but now to dark to continue, can hear fireworks going off all around me hope that someone has Jet inside as he is scared of them. I will let you know of any contact as soon as it comes. Peter
Millys Mum
Any calls, any possible sightings or further information.
ellejay
Have seen all the posters up Brackley Road, so well done for getting a lot on there, though not seen any up Southend Lane, may be good to get some there if you have not already.
Millys Mum
peterh - thanks for the update. Good to hear that a Missing ad is appearing in this week's News Shopper as it has been responsible in the past for getting other missing dogs back home. Did you ask for it to appear on the 'Announcements' page rather than in the small pet section towards the back of the paper?
Have you visited all pet shops in the area and given them a poster of Jet: Animal Magic, Beckenham Lane, Shortlands / Creature Comforts, Upper Elmers End Road / Hayes Pets, Station Approach, Hayes / Scallywags, Wickham Rd, Shirley / Waggles Pet Emporium, High St, West Wickham & Whites Pet Care, Sydenham Rd, Sydenham. I know that you re going to target the local pubs and the Royal Mail sorting office near Tescos at Elmers End - make sure you take along a stack of mini-flyers so that all posties can have Jet's contact details to hand. And finally, thanks to everyone who are helping in the search for Jet.Last edited: 2010-10-29 20:51:22 by Millys Mum

We walk in Cater Park and the field past children's area on the left normally, Beckenham Place Park, Bromley Country Park & Norman Park Shirley, I have put posters at New Beckenham & Kent House, Postered Kings Hall Rd houses backing on to railway. Have an advert in next weeks Newshopper.
ellejay
I took my dog for a walk round Beckenham place park yesterday and had a good look round there, just incase Jet has wandered in this direction.
As its Halloween this weekend, could you maybe give flyers to the Trick treaters who may come to your door ?? Well the parents anyways, they can look out for Jet whilst they out on the streets. Kids love to help find animals, they were very good with us when our Dylan was missing, had all sorts of kids riding their bikes out looking for him.

I am not around tomorrow as i would deffo be out with the search, but i am always on the look out, just wish i had some posters. Have you contacted Kent house and clockhouse stations incase he is hiding in the side tracks ?

Could you tell us the areas/parks that you walked Jet? maybe we could concentrate a search on those areas. Could a search party be set up for tommorow (Saturday)? to cover as many areas as possible. I'd could come along and help. Is anyone else available in the area?
Would it be a good idea to contact the Newshopper today to put in a special appeal? if the deadline is Monday morning. If Jet has moved on further afield it may help.
peterh
Peterh Thanks for all your the help, dog walkers in the area all seam to know about Jet but no new information or sightings
Millys Mum
Woo - I thought that as well but sadly not. Jet's owner just needs to find out from Claireg
about the sighting of a black dog in the school grounds a couple of days ago. I shall send an email to Helper Claireg to contact owner
Woo
Bit confused - does this relate to Jet and is it good news??

Saw Jet's Poster in Eden Park Vet Surgery today, well done to who put that in there, as the surgery was very busy when i went to take my dog, and every one in there was looking at talking about the poster. I told some of the customers in there i was helping out, and pointed them in the direction of Doglost, most had not heard of this site, but have now..so they hopefully will now keep an eye for Jet.

Sorry there's been no joy today. Have had a rather busy day but have given posters to two contacts - one who works at the Post Office sorting office in Penge, and another who owns Creases Ironing (who offer a great service!) near Kings Hall Road.
Claireg
Sorry for late reply, it was Alexandra Juniors on the field behind the school. I spoke to one of Jet's searchers on the phone last night and also the lady looking after Jet came down to help the search. We did take some cooked food last night in the hope of drawing him out, but just couldnt see anything.
Have put posters up by Penge East station, Alexandra park and also next to the alleyway which runs alongside Alexandra juniors and will also give out flyers to dog walkers later on today.
ellejay
oh no, i have been looking everywhere i go.
I have just come back from frogpool manor, and they have a few lost dog posters up in there shop, shame i do not have any posters as they said they would put one up. I know its not exactly near to the area, but maybe need to poster abit further afield.
Woo
Been to both schools this morning. They were open. Found a caretaker at Cator Park but they have not seen him but will contact me if they do. At Alexandra Juniors I could get into the grounds but not the school and again no luck. So I am afraid we've got to keep looking. Very disappoointing.
Safedog Crash Tested Car CratesBaggy Dog
Pleased to hear of this possible sighting. At the risk of stating the obvious, please don't forget to take a lead with you(preferably a slip lead). Good luck.
Woo
We've just been to Alexandra Juniors plus Cator Park Juniors and no joy. Will go there tomorrow morning and hopefully get a result. Thank you everyone for your help and let's hope we are on to a positive result and Jet will come home.
Millys Mum
I presume Claireg is talking about Cator Park School in Lennard Road.
Millys Mum
Hi ellejay and so your're reading this as well. I'm trying to find out if a neighbour and friend of Jet's owners are aware. I know it's late but not too late but don't want to call them if they already know. Not sure what to do as don't want Jet to move on!
Millys Mum
Claireg - are you still around and on your computer? Do Jet's searchers know about the possible sighting or are you part of 'Team Jet'? Did you call them? The very best thing to do is to go there at FIRST LIGHT or just before and to sit very quietly and go armed with nice smelly food such as pilchards. Better still, if you can gain access and get permission, take one of those disposable BBQs along and cook sausages or bacon. The smell will really travel and will be picked up by a hungry Labrador. Hope it's him.
ellejay
CAn I ask what school ? I can come down and help look.
Claireg
Went out tonight and think we had a possible sighting inside school grounds, definately a black dog, but unfortunately havent been able to get any further.
We have put up posters in the area and will go back tommorow once its light and try again.
Millys Mum
Thanks all for all your help with some really good suggestions on areas to search. I was aware of the allotments via an entrance in Kings Hall Road but had forgotten about the allotments opposite Cator Park School via an entrance in Lennard Road. Claireg, in answer to your question about whether Jet is friendly, from what I've gathered from two of his searchers, he is very friendly and ouward going with people and presumably other dogs but hopefully members of 'Team Jet' will clarify this. As you say, there are SO MANY hidey holes in the immediate area. Claireg, that's very kind of you to offer to contact the school's caretaker and the Club's manager. Once again, can 'Team Jet' say whether this has already been done or whether you would like to take Claireg up on her kind offer.
Claireg
Fingers crossed he is found by then :/ There are allotments opposite Cator Park does anyone know an allotment owner that could let them into the allotments to have a look around? Also there is a playing field next to Cator Park sports hall and the front entrance/parking area gates are nearly always open. There is also a HSBC sports club/field beside that which again the gates are always open. Has anyone contacted the club? If not I could contact them and ask if I can check the grounds?
Ellejay, there is a cricket ground on Copers Cope Road along by the football training ground that might be worth a try?
What sort of temperament has Jet? Will he go up to people? He is ok with other dogs? Just wondering if its best to look with my dogs or without them.
Safedog Crash Tested Car CratesBaggy Dog
I've emailed several 'dog' friends in the area to alert them to Jet's disappearance. Claire - good idea - but the deadline is (I think) 10.30am on Monday, so definitely something to consider if Jet isn't home by then.
ellejay
I was over that way last night and had a good look around the clockhouse and kent house area. also took the back route home via Copers cope road looking. Could you contact the Crystal Palace f.c training ground in Copers cope road, as that is an area he might be hiding.

Have you contacted Foal Farm in case he has been handed in there, that is in Biggin Hill.

I have also been reguarly looking on other websites in case someone has found him and put an ad up.
I have informed all friends in this area to keep an eye out, as i dont have any posters i have told them to look on here for his picture.

The newshopper comes out on a Wednesday and is circulated all around the Beckenham, Penge, Bromley and part of Sydenham area. It might be worth contacting them to ask them to put in a special appeal in the paper?
Claireg
I'll put up posters in Alexandra park when I get back from work tonight, its only 5 minutes up the road from Cator Park. I'll also put a poster up in Alexandra Infants School as it backs onto Kings Hall Road and Kent House Station so hopefully parents, teachers and school children can be on the look out. Oh just realised its half term ! I can contact the caretaker though to check the school grounds just in case he is hiding out there.Last edited: 2010-10-26 11:39:48 by Claireg

Have just spoken to a a friend of Jet's owners & she has confirmed that a reward will be offered. I have amended Jet's details to reflect the reward and so they can be printed off now. They are out there at this moment and will be visiting more vets, the Harvington Estate (FoH notice board) and general postering. It's good to hear that our ever helpful Woodlands Kennels have been informed about Jet. They have already called 'Team Jet' about a found Lab but, sadly not Jet, as this lad was chocolate. Thanks Baggy Dog for running off the poster for our Last Chance Friend to display in the shop. I can put one up in Kelsey Park near to the cafe, tennis courts and crazy golf. I will also ask the bakery at Park Langley to display a poster as they usually oblige with our missing dogs.Last edited: 2010-10-26 11:12:51 by Millys Mum

Thanks Jayne and Sable - much appreciated! 'Team Jet' - as requested, I have asked for mini-flyers to be done (3 or 4 to a A4 page) and these will be emailed to you. As I mentioned, I don't tend to bother printing these in colour but just photocopy them in black & white onto BRIGHT ORANGE (or similar) paper. That way, people can keep them at home, in their pockets or handbags and when they see Jet or hear of someone acquiring a 'new' black Lab, they will have your contact details to hand rather than having to return to poster. I meant to ask, is a reward being offered as this can be added to the posters? I'm at home tomorrow morning until around 12 noon and so call me if you need any further advice.
Woo
Thanks for the poster. We have put our posters around Cator Park, New Beckenham, Clock House and Kent House Stations. Will print doglost poster tomorrow and put more out plus the local vets.

Thanks Sable for putting photo on...was struggling! Poster has now been e mailed out to helpers in postcodes BR1,2,3,4. SE6,19,20,23,25,26. CR0.

Thanks for the info... so its right behind Kent house Station. My mother in law lives right round the corner and i am heading over there later, shame i do not have any posters to help put up.

Sounds like the friends are doing everything right.. do we know if they have postered yet ?

If they do have posters, target all of Beckenham high street, penge etc... go into Clock house cab officem they are going for putting a poster up.

He may well be hiding in Cator Park, or there is a park in Churchfields road that is quiet, but plenty of dog walkers to target. There is also the Cricket ground.

I will look around my way, nearer the Homebase near beckenham Hill station.

Can a facebook page be made for him ?? I have laods of friends in this area who can look out for him if i can access a page and send to all of them.

ellejay, thanks for spring into action and sending me the email. Jet went missing from home, Kings Hall Road yesterday evening around 7pm (they believe). Owners are away on holiday and so Jet was being looked after by a friend. Neighbours and friends are co-ordinating the search. I have asked them to send a photo if possible (they will check if Jet's family have a photo on their PC) but, if not, we can use a similar photo from the DogLost library. I was just speaking to one of Jet's neighbours but was cut off although managed to give them some preliminary advice. They have all been working like mad. I didn't get as fat as mentioning our mini-flyers & unfortunately I'm in work from 1pm - 7pm today. It's difficult to take calls on my mobile but a text is easier although might not be able to respond straight away! As you see see I've now added more details and a second (landline) telephone number for a neighbour.
Thanks goldenfrodo for your help on this as, as you know, this is dog number 6 missing from 'my' area!Last edited: 2010-10-25 12:18:51 by Millys Mum

If we can get a poster made up, i can help post them around, though still without printer, so may need some sent to me.
