- So pleased that you have lovely George back home. Try a spoonful of honey, dogs usually love this and it has soothing and antibacterial properties. Manuka honey is particularly good but rather expensive. Hope he will soon be back to his old self. Lots of love georgeous George.x

- Great to see you have the lovely George back where he belongs! Just to add that I use Bach rescue remedy for my firework (and lots of other loud noises) phobic dog and also Dorwest valerian and skullcap herbal tablets with the desired effect. Also for stress I have also recently used zylkene from my vet for my dog. All of these are made of completely natural ingrediants. I hope George is back to his usual self very quickly which I'm sure he will be now he's back with you.

- I would just like to add I have used Bach flower remedy for my dogs who are firework phobic - a few drops in the water or you can now get a spray which you can squirt onto the tounge which helps calm - I have also used Dorwest Herbs Valarium compound which Millys Mum is refering to - this is available over the net or at specialist pet stores where as the flower remedy can be purchased at any chemist and some larger supermarkets

- I'm so pleased that lovely George is back home. I agree with Linda that he's probably made himself hoarse from barking (he may have even been kept in a shed or outbuilding). And, so, if the vet can't find anything amiss, I think it's just a matter of time, rest and plenty of love and TLC until he makes a full recovery. That's a good suggestion from Nina especially as she and her dogs have been through a similar trauma and so, although I've not used it on our dogs, it certainly would be worth a try - I would suggest speaking to the company who produces it. However I have used products made by Dorwest Herbs (based in Dorset) who do have a stress/anxiety natural remedy available. Once again, I would definately speak with them direct as they are always very helpful and well informed. Wishing George a speedy recovery.. xLast edited: 2010-10-08 12:10:26 by Millys Mum

- Hi Nikki not sure if you have heard of Bach Flower Remedies but was wondering how you would feel if I suggested you have a look at their web site to see if there was a flavour that would help with his recovery. I have used it on my two dogs when we first got them they were very angry but after a few weeks putting a couple of drops on a biscuit they developed a lovely calm sense of being.

- Well done George for probably barking his head off and becoming hoarse as he was most likely shut in somewhere, where he made sure someone was going to hear him. They most likely dumped him or he escaped, and thank God he was seen wandering and taken home. I am sure he will be fine very soon after lots ot TLC and rest. Take great care of that lovely boy. xxLast edited: 2010-10-08 09:33:26 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

- Email from Nikki today.-------------Hi Linda, George is not quite back to the bounding boy he was before, but we are hoping with lots of love, food, water and sleep he will be back to himself in no time. He has now had a bath and looks much happier. The vet said physically he was fine, but Stu noticed today he is having trouble barking. So we are going to keep our eye on him over the weekend. Iv'e been looking at things we can do to settle his nerves and calm him. He was miles away and I agree, I think someone took him and he either got out or they dumped him. I just can't get over that we have him back! Our lodgers know that now he is always to be watched and Stu has gone around the garden with a fine tooth comb to make sure he can't get out again. I just can't even imagine what he has been through? We will never know what happened to him. Thank you for all your support, help and kind words...we couldn't have done it without doglost! Love, Nikki, Stu & Georgie! xxx

- I'm certain he did not get 5 miles away by himself. Someone must have picked him up near home and then dumped him.Just so glad he is home, and that you & George are in a better place now Nikki. You have kept up the good work every day, postering and handing out fliers and you really deserve this result.Last edited: 2010-10-06 18:08:11 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

- Fantastic. George is home !!! Email from Nikkie.-=------- WE HAVE HIM HOME!!!!!!! I can't quite believe it. I just keep staring at him! We got a call from a local take away that we put a poster in. One of their drivers was in Swinton (about 5 miles away!!) and saw him on the street rummaging through bins! He popped him in the back of his car and called us. He is very muddy a bit scuffed and very, very tiered. But We are so happy to have him home. Thanks for all your help, it was because of the posters that we got him back as someone recognised him from the ones we'd put up. Finally we will get a good nights sleep. Thank you soooooo much to you and all the team at doglost. We couldn't have found him without you, Many,Many Thanks, Nikki & Stuart x ...& Georgie! xx------------- Last edited: 2010-10-06 17:05:39 by Sable - Regional Co-ordinator - Scotland

- Nikki has asked me to do a new poster and some different fliers and I have now forwarded them to her. I really hope there is some news on George soon.

- Just spoken to owner. George is still missing. They have been busy postering and putting the flyers Sable sent through as many doors as they can. They've visited Manchester Dogs Home and Leigh Cat and Dogs Home (which is where he was last time he went missing). Fingers crossed this boy is found safe very soon.

- Hi Sable, Thank you for all your advice and help. We have done the above pretty much straight away last night, but no luck so far. Unfortunalty this is the second time in 3 months he has done this...we are amazed at the tiny gap he has seemed to squeeze through to get out! We are about to go to the dogs homes that wont accept calls and put the posters up and flyer around our area. We did try calling you for any further advice, but there was no answer. We will try you again later. Again thank you all so much, Nikki & Stuart

- Nikki, I have emailed advice to you. Sorry to see gorgeous George is missing. Firstly contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres. Give them all a detailed description of your dog with any distinguishing marks/scars. You can find vets in your own area by clicking on the green logo which says “Find Any UK VET”, on the right hand side of the page under the “latest missing dogs” photo - top right. Please email admin@doglost.co.uk with a photo of your dog quoting the dog’s Doglost ID number, or upload a photo yourself on “update details” above. You can also add comments and update the dog’s status, by clicking on “add a comment” at the bottom of the page. If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and at the same time, check that all details held, are up to date. You can obtain a “MISSING” poster from "view poster" above. POSTERS ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Start postering now!. If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be re-homed legally, after 7 days, so please try to visit rescue centres, to look for your dog & give them a poster. Do not rely on checking by phone alone, as other people may not recognise your dog by your description
