The three owners of Border Terriers in the Constantine area have been contacted & they have all said that their dogs were not out at 7.10 on Thursday morning. So it appears that the dog seen might be Pebbles.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Brill and surrounding area was thoroughly checked out 2 weeks ago. There are several Border Terriers living in the Bridge/Brill/Constantine area, and some of them do roam regularly. There seems to be a rumour doing the rounds that Pebbles has been found - she hasn't, and we are all still very much on the case, trying to find her. We don't know the origin of the rumour, but it certainly did not come from Pirate fm, who have been kind enough to check their output. It would be extremely helpful if all those who have Pebble's welfare at heart, and who are searching for her, check into this page regularly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Possible sighting yesterday morning of a scruffy looking Border running down the road in Bridge near Constantine towards Gweek. Locals seem to be aware but if there is anyone who can put some posters up in this area that would be great. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jules I've swopped the pics over and cropped the body shot one, this is the one that now shows for the poster and not the head shot one as before. The DL poster is still currently being worked on and if anyone wants to print them off you will have to modify it first. Good luck everyone in the search and fingers crossed we see little Pebbles in the blue soon. Jan x

The picture on the poster isn't very big. Is it possible to make it bigger or is it just how it's printing out for me!?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ALERT TO ALL PEBBLES FRIENDS – This message is written with much heartache, this is something I feared having to announce publicly , but the fact is Pebbles is almost certainly in pup and due in 2 weeks time. She needed veterinary help with her last whelping so I am appealing to you all to redouble your efforts in your search for her, please take a detour from you normal route home and stop and search those rural areas and call for Pebbles , also if you could carry some spare posters in your car and site them where you feel the area hasn’t been covered, we need to spread the net further from the Helston area . This bank holiday weekend people are out and about more, please check outhouses, barns etc. There are articles and adverts in most of the local papers this week. Thank you all for your continued support. (message posted on behalf of Lauren )Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Emailed Victoria Graham, from Spotlight, last night. She has a border called Grizzle who features in some of her reports. She replied almost immediately with an offer of help, unfortunately not the sort of thing they broadcast, but she wanted all the information on the circumstances of her disappearance so maybe she will come up with some fresh ideas. Any help from any source is much appreciated at the moment.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been out to Trevarno this afternoon the kiosk still has it's original poster, also the poster on the tree coming out of the exit, I spoke to the same kiosk chap again, he says there'a a Terrier that belongs to the bungalow at the bottom of the drive and it roams, it is however white and smooth coated ! not at all like Pebbles. I've refreshed posters along route with banners stating "recent sighting 17th April" all the posters were still in fab condition which is good. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There have been possible sightings of Pebbles on Friday morning around the Porkellis/Halwin Lane areas, and reports of a similar dog running alone around the Trevarno area at the weekend. Lauren has raised awareness around Porkellis, but would appreciate help from anyone able to get out to the Trevarno area to refresh posters and ask people to check outbuildings, etc. We can't rule out any of these possible sightings at this stage.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How about a big advert in all the Cornwall newspapers, or persuade the West Briton to do an article & include it in all editions? We think you can have a flier included in the paper for not a huge cost. Maybe writing to the radio stations, asking them to put it on air regularly until you inform them otherwise? Perhaps some more postering, as not all areas have been covered.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Female border terrier picked up off the road in Mylor this morning by friends of my sister in law. They brought her home to Helston with them and phoned me, as they were convinced it was Pebbles. Unfortunately it wasn't but I had to get pretty close before I was certain, she was very similar. Some lucky person has had their dog safely picked up by some lovely people.Pirate FM put it out on air fairly quickly, I then had a number of people phone in to see if it was Pebbles, which shows she is still uppermost in peoples minds.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks, Zim, Pebble's searchers have been aware of the garage dog, and  I think have eliminated it. To add to the confusion, we have also discovered a BT that regularly wanders around Helston, popping into pubs and shops. The presence of this dog makes the search more complicated, but doesn't rule out the possibility that Pebbles may also be doing the rounds in Helston. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, Nancegollan Garage owner has at least one dog that looks very similar to pebbles, may be worth eliminating them, though I have seen them wandering around the yard I have never seen them on the road. The garage is on the main road in Nancegollan.   ZimLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi folks just touching base - i have posted the message below onto all the K9  and hunting forums i can think of- if anyone is a member of any forum please can you post this message as well Cheers fingers crossed for good news today eh! Mich x Mesage from Norah Ashley Does anyone want to copy & paste the message below onto any other websites where people might see it?
Pebbles, the Border Terrier still hasn’t been found. There were 4 sightings of her last Wednesday on the Helston to Camborne road between Crowntown & Nancegollan. A whole team have searched ...that area today with no success. So where has she been since Wednesday? Can people check their sheds, gardens & fields please? If you spot her, she is very friendly, so just grab her, keep her safe & ring 01326 569595 or 07977494835 - her family will be most grateful! There is a substantial reward. Lets all try to find this little dog!
Your support is much needed . Thanks

Everyone involved in the search for Pebbles is extremely grateful for, and appreciative of all the contributions coming in from around the country and the home area. However could I respectfully point out that we have a long established, and very valuable link with Pirate fm, and we are updating them on a regular basis, sometimes several times a day (and night) as, and when we have new information about Pebbles, and all the other missing Cornish dogs. There is danger that if they get bombarded from all sides, we may well lose their goodwill, as well as confusing the listeners as to which is the current, correct information. Thankyou again, I know everyone is just desperate to help get Pebbles home again, as we all are.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As you say, Lauren, we could do with another sighting! In the meantime we will focus on the Camborne - Helston road, and all points off, in the hope of getting the break we need. I travelled it today, taking in Crowntown, Nancegollan, Lowertown, Prospidnick, Coverack Bridges, then branched up to Releath, Chynhale, Tranack, and Tregathenan. Spoke to several people, and postered again. Will be out again tomorrow. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another quick note, the possible sighting behind St Michaels School is probably not Pebbles, as all other sightings on that day, Wednesday, said she was soaking wet and filthy. The chap in Helston said the dog he saw was clean. It may be that this was the "Londis dog" as there is border type that has been seen wandering in Helston quite regularly. We need Madam to show her face!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No go I'm afraid, it wasn't Pebbles. When we all went back to pick up our cars today after our search yet another couple confirmed the sighting of Pebbles on that Cambourne rd on Wednesday. That makes 4 pretty definite sightings but where has she gone since then. Please everyone keeping looking.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It has now become apparent that the recent sightings all took place on Wednesday, and there has been no sign of Pebbles since that day - until earlier today, when someone saw a little scruffy, terrier type dog around the Londis shop in Helston. It ran off towards Penrose walk. Could this have been Pebbles? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There has been a number of possible sightings within the last few hours of a dog matching Pebble's description, running along the B3303 Camborne to Helston road, in the direction of Helston. Most of the sightings are in the Crowntown and Nancegollan areas. Lauren is there now postering and searching. Anyone else available to get out and help? Bumping up again! We have had our own, local tracking dogs out (3 independently), but as you can see from her thread, the trail went cold in exactly the same place every time. We here at DL have spoken to the bloodhound owners upcountry on several occasions, and learnt a great deal from their excellent advice in terms of how the bloodhounds work, and when they may be of use in tracking a missing dog, and when not. That, nicci, is why Doglost needs volunteers like you, and dowgri, and all the other caring people out there. We need you to poster, poster, poster, then poster (and flyer) some more, to observe and to listen, to communicate with us and each other, to become a network of ears and eyes. Everyone knows someone, who knows someone, as the saying goes - you are only 5 steps away from knowing someone who knows the stranger who just walked past you. We always need more volunteers, and especially in Cornwall, where DL is just getting known. The more of us there are, the more postering, looking and listening we can do, and the more difficult it becomes for those out of the way people to remain hidden away. Talk to people, encourage them to log on, and sign up as ears and eyes. We know everyone leads busy lives these days, but we can all find time to put up at least one poster - and it may be the one that gives us the break we need.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

nicci, even hillbillies have postmen , dustmen , neighbours etc who would hopefully recognize Pebbles , also Hillbillies need to eat and fuel their cars so they will come across posters and know we're searching for her. I've driven around this evening and postered end of St Michaels road by surgery , notice board by market , Nancegollan school and driven down side road from top of Sithney hill and postered at the bottom, also poster on roadside by Trenithick Barton.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks, Jan - you beat me to it! Update with Lauren's new information going out on Pirate fm today. Judging by the location of the St Michael's sighting, if this was Pebbles, she may well be trying to get back home. This was Wednesday - so where is she now? Please keep postering, all of you, we need to keep Pebble's profile up, and encourage people to get in touch. One of the biggest problems is that most people don't know what they have seen - so they don't know that they should be telling anyone! We need those calls!  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

posting this on behalf of Cath and Dee as they can’t seem to post on here even though they’ve logged in, they just want DL to know the areas covered with posters yesterday .Just returned from an assault on Falmouth & Penryn. There are now posters/fliers at the following locations:
Mabe: Post Office & pub
Penryn: Asda store & both petrol station kiosks, Doggies & Moggies, Post Office, Spar shop, Card shop, Barclays Bank, Miss Peapods cafe, Williamson vets
Falmouth: Lidls staff room, Sainsbury...s, Woolworths shop window, HSBC, (staff only), Rosemullion vets, Gyllyngvase, Swanpool & Maenporth beaches, Falmouth Garden Centre
Others: Carnon Downs Garden centre, (inside & in car park), Cornish Garden Nurseries, Perranaworthal, Four Cross garage at Treluswell, Shell garage & Spar shop at Playing place

Really appreciate everyone's efforts and contributions in the search for Pebbles. She will be appearing in more local papers next week, and we are in constant touch with the wonderful Pirate fm, who are putting out updates as, and when we get them. I have suggested that small numbers of flyers (available from Pebble's owner Lauren, or through DL if requested) be left on as many pub bars as possible, as they really get people talking, whereas not everyone sees the posters. We could do with some sightings now - come on Pebbles, where are you? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There was a possible - very tenuous - sighting on Sunday at Longdowns filling station (a poster was placed there yesterday, prompting the cashier to call in). The cashier noticed a Border Terrier in a 'bluey-green' van type vehicle. The dog was stood up, looking this way and that out of the windows. The cashier, having a terrier type dog of his own, asked the middle aged man if it was his dog. The man said it was, threw his money on the counter, and left hastily. Was he an innocent man in a hurry? Or did he have something to hide? The cashier couldn't tell us anything more, other than he was about 6 foot in height, and of medium build. There were cameras at the garage, but they don't record. What a shame. Come on, all you locals - eyes peeled for that vehicle, please!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Now postered: Coverack Bridges, Lowertown, Treneare, Porkellis, Treloquithick - but Wheelbarrow Lane in that vicinity still needs to be done. Posters also left with Longdowns filling station, Spar shop in Stithians, Golden Lion in Stithians, and Stithians Boarding Kennels, K9 Kutz groomers and boarding, Baileys Country Store and vets Amos and Penny in Penryn, Trevarthen's Butchers in Penhalvean and Four Lanes Post Office. Is anyone available to poster Gweek, Constantine and Porthleven? Help would be much appreciated. Updates went out today on Pirate fm, but as yet no-one has rung in with any information.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The trail for Pebbles goes cold at the T junction in Rowe's Lane (between the old primary school and Amos Pumps, Wendron), increasing the liklihood that she has been picked up. The following places could all link with Rowe's Lane, and ideally need to be well postered: Gweek, Coverack Bridges, Treneare, Treloquithick, Porkellis, Lowertown and the Falmouth area. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated by Pebbles' owners. More trackers out today now the weather is drier. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou everyone for your support. There is a chance Pebbles has been picked up, so any help would be appreciated in postering beyond the immediate area. We need to make her too hot to handle.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to the owner, and emailed advice. Pebbles is described as a very friendly little dog who will go to anyone. She went missing with another family dog, a Labrador, who won't go to anyone outside her immediate family. The Lab returned alone very traumatised, but not muddy. The owners have today searched the whole area, with the Lab, but there is so far no sign, and no scent has been picked up. I will find out if there are any open shafts in the area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
