ROXY IS HOME! Exactly 8 weeks to the day since she was stolen, we took a call tonight from a man who claimed to have bought her yesterday. We exchanged her for £500 in a car park in Leeds. The police followed and if he cannot prove he bought her legitimately, hopefully we will get the money back. If not, we still have her home, as dodgy a handover as it was. We are so happy that she's back with us, thank you to DogLost for all your help and support!

It sounds like gypies, if the call came from Nottingham, there is a gypsie site in Bulwell, and it would pay you to go there and shout out her name, and ask around, I wish you luck xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great work on the stolen dog awareness day today girls !! I also have to say I was so impressed at the outstanding effort you have put into postering around Ilkley !! Its brilliant news we now have this positive witness who saw the men put her in the pick up truck. Hopefully as they are often seen around the town they can be tracked down and you will be one step closer to finding little Roxy.Once again well done for the work put into todays event and also the magnificent postering campaign !! Thanks for the bump! We now know who stole Roxy - and we wouldn't have known had we not set up a stand in the middle of town today. A man saw two lads in a blue pick-up van take her away. He thought at the time that she was a stray and didn't realise they were stealing her. He saw Roxy's pictures at our event today and remembered, and has been to the police with this information. The van involved is well-known in the local area for picking up scrap metal. Hopefully we can track it down and find out what happened to Roxy, since she was probably sold on very quickly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is Ilkley carnival today and Roxy's owner and friends will be taking the opportunity where so many people will be gathered to hold an awareness event for Roxy and other stolen dogs to highlight the terrible problem of dog theft. They are displaying photos of many other stolen dogs along with photos of Roxy and will be releasing ballons which will each have the name , brief details and post code for a stolen dog. This will spread the word further about Roxy and other stolen dogs and may help to stop more dogs being stolen by educating dog owners how bad this problem is. Good luck and I so hope this brings news of Roxy!Last edited: 2010-05-03 01:49:56 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

We took a call from someone last night who claims to be in Nottingham and has bought a Chihuahua that she suspects is Roxy. She told us she would send a picture message of the dog she bought so we could confirm/deny but no message arrived. Caller withheld their number so we cannot get in touch. Roxy was featured in the Yorkshire Evening Post yesterday (19/04/10).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a good article in the Telegraph & Argus today about Roxy with photos. It also mentions the missing Cocker Spaniel puppies, and reminds people not to leave dogs unattended. Well done for getting them interested. I, and other people, have tried before to get stories in about stolen dogs and not had any luck. Fingers crossed the story will bring good news. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

sarahsarah - in case you don't see it on the cocker spaniel puppies thread, I posted "I only saw the BBC report, and it didn't mention a chi, but I will make enquiries tomorrow.  If you look up West Yorkshire Animals in Need (they're based in Ilkley) they are working with the owner of these pups, and they may know if the chi was recovered.  If I hear anything I will post it :)"Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Latest News... A CCTV camera has an image of a small white van which was used to steal her. The owner is forwarding the information to the police.
*Fingers and paws crossed* this is the lead that brings her home.
