Thanks AR for sending me the story, which follows below. A RUNAWAY labrador has been reunited with its anxious owners following last week?s Extra story about the animal?s escape from the vet school in Bearsden. Four year old labrador Shakka was taken to the vet school for an MRI scan last Monday morning but when staff later walked him in the grounds the dog slipped his lead and jumped over the vet school wall on to the busy Switchback Road. For three days until midnight, owners Bob and Dee Logan from Edinburgh combed the streets around the Switchback area after reports that Shakka, whose home is on a farm, had been hit by a car as he frantically ran two and fro across the main road. A delighted Bob told the Extra this week: ?I would like to thank everyone who helped us hunt for Shakka, particularly Leigh and Ron Smith, of Cairnhill Road, and the many people who joined them in helping us look for our dear pet. ?It?s a great community you have in the area.? Shakka was found safe and well in a garden at the bottom of the Switchback by an elderly lady who saw him lying under a tree. She called the dog warden service and they spotted the vet school tag on his neck. He is safe now.    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
