Hi sorry not checked this page for a while! I have not had any news from the kennels of him finding a new home unfortunately. I never saw him featured on their website... unless they have renamed him. I too hope he has found a new home because I had a real soft spot for him! Sarah xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

23.30 p.m.  Email received tonight from Sarah with an update: Hi just an update to let you know he went to Hyndburn Stray Dogs in need (Aspden Valley - oswaldtwistle) on friday. Their website isn't currently working so he can't be viewed on their but anyone who is interested in him is welcome to ring the kennels and ask about him.
If I hear anymore I will keep you posted :)
Sarah x Thanks Sarah for the update, we are sure he will find a new loving family.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I just love that picture to the right of him. He looks like he is smiling. Bless his heart. I am so very happy to hear he is doing better. I have a horse in the USA named Joey and my horse is a great guy. I know this Joey is a wonderful fella too. Thanks so much to everyone who has taken such good care of him. The vet and all the staffers too. You are doing a fantastic job. Hope he either gets back to his family real soon or gets a new home. Sending lots and lots of positive energy and will continue to keep Joey in my prayers. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sarah thanks so much for the lovely pics he is looking great.  You are all doing a brilliant job 'THANK YOU' so much.  Below is your email update I'll update his name: Wanted to send you a couple of more recent picture of the found staffy. He has been named joey and he is doing brilliantly!! He loves going for walks and getting treats. He's a very sweet boy and loves cuddles and gets very lonely when we are busy during the day and he whinges, true staffy style! He eats really well and has been urinating and defaecating with no problems.
He has got what the vet thinks is an ulcer on his right eye which we are treating. Again still no owner has come forward but hopefully by the weekend he will be well enough to go to a rescue to be rehomed if we dont find him a home in the meantime.

I am going into work tomorrow to see him and give him his medication and feed him. Will update you tomorrow night on how he is.
Hopefully going to try and get him to walk tomorrow which should lift his spirits.
Thanks for all the messages, all of the nurse team are getting attached to him and we are all hoping that he gets better and gets a new home if his owners don't come forward!

Update - Xrays were taken of his head yesterday and his skull has been fractured. However, today he has eaten two tins of food! So the vet has decided not to put him to sleep.
He is slowly getting better, he's regaining a little more balance and strength. He is quite depressed however and is very very sore!
Still no luck in finding an owner, police were unable to trace the van that hit him aswell.
Sarah xx

I work at a vets in accrington where the dog was brought in by the police. It was hit by a van on hollins lane near to hollins school. The dog had been following school children when it got hit.
The driver had drove off and left the dog and the police have been investigating it.
The dog is not microchipped, and has no tag. He is wearing a brown leather collar.
He is not in a good way at the moment but we are trying our best to keep him comfortable. However if his conditions worsen as he appears to have been hit in the head, he may need to be put to sleep before an owner is found.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
