Such sad news. We can imagine how Jean & Rob must be feeling and they have our deepest sympathy. We went to Knebworth today & told everyone about the tragedy. Everyone was very sympathetic and all send their condolences.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

God bless and keep you Fergus. What an incredibly handsome boy. I am so sorry you did not find your way home. xx

The sorrow of the faithful
is not that of permanent loss,
but the tender sense of sadness
that comes in saying good-bye for now
to someone we love.
May today's sorrow give way
to the peace and
comfort of God's love.

Think you are correct Shereen - it probably was Wugs 21180 that was found. I am local to the area, and there are a number of large ponds/lakes that he could have fallen into. Hope Fergus is found soon, safe and well.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Skye's Mum its so good to know you have a good knowledge of the area Fergus has gone missing in and are able to help Jean. When I spoke to  Jean she mentioned locals had told her about a feral GSD in the area so these people must be unaware she was eventually caught. When Jean told me it did'nt occur to me that it was the same area that Midnight had been in !! So pleased to see she was found a lovely new home ! Hoping for a news or a sighting on Fergus xxx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great that you are local and able to assist Skye's Mum, I have left a message for owners to call me back later on their landline.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jumanji the feral GSD was caught in September, I spent 3 months befriending, feeding and eventually capturing her, she was indeed a feral her dog lost number is 19203 (should you wish to read up on her) I have contacted Jean & will assist her as much as I can to find Fergus, I know the area very well and will poster all the houses/shops & streets. Unfortunately there have been no sighting at all. Jean has my number and will call me if any sightings come in. Fingers crossed for this boy. Helen   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am sorry to hear that Fergus is missing.  I'm sure you have already done this, but it may be a good idea to put posters up in both Tescos, Asda, Sainsbury's, Pets at Home, the pet shop in the town centre (they may charge - I'm not too sure), and possibly any pet stalls at the markets in Stevenage.  I hope you hear some news about him soon.  Keep positive.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There are still no sightings of Fergus but as he is such a nervous dog he may well be keeping well away from people. His owner said there is a crop scarer in the area he ran off in and if he is frightened by this he could have run off further afield to avoid it. The car park of the Crematorium can be very busy so although his owner has been taking her car there he is unlikely to go near enough to see or recognise her car. Access to the the car park is also locked up at night so she doesnt have the option of trying to tempt him out when its quieter at night with the sound or scent of her car. Also the main road next to the gates is a busy main road with no pavement so this is an unsuitable as well. His owner has left some articles of her clothing near to where he ran off but without any sightings has not left food yet as there are a lot of foxes living close by. There is also reported to be a GSD which has been living feral on land close by for many months and locals leave food out for him so Fergus may not stay around the area because of this dog. Owners have contacted vets, dog wardens stray kennels etc and have postered the area. I have suggested they contact dog wardens and stray kennels over neighbouring borders. There is a railway line nearby but they have contacted railtrack and no dogs have been reported in.They are aware of the 7 day rule and intend visiting the stray kennels in person. hoping for some news of this boy very soon xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear Fergus is missing.  Details have been posted on Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme (STECS) website and also on www.scottiedoglovers.co.uk so more people will be aware and on the look-out.  I do hope Fergus is found safe and well very soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner it is a bit late to call you now but I will email some information sheets to you to help in the search, Please go out just as light is breaking in the morning and go back to the spot that you last saw him, take some highly scented food such as sardines and an item of clothing that you have been wearing and leave these somewhere safe close by to where you saw him last. If you spot him crouch down to the ground and call him gently try not to get excited, keep him in your periferal vision and do not make direct eye contact with him and just keep talking to him, he will be scared and may not recognise you immedaitely, this is normal and nothing to be worried about. If you travelled by car to the walk you can also leave the engine running whilst you sit in the car with a door open - dogs will recoginse the tone of their owners car engine, good luck and I will call you tomorrowLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
hello janey
could he still be hanging about the crematorium..its very quite anyway but with the weather will be worse. and he would be hard to spot if he didnt want to be seen, good luck in your search and fingers crossed he is safe home soon.Annabel Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner sorry you have been having problems registering Fergus on DL and uploading photo/s.  Details emailed to Admin: My black Scottish Terrier has been lost on the 15th January at Harwood Park Crematorium , Watton Road, Stevenage at approx. 1pm.  He is 9 years old and is wearing a broad brown collar with gold embroidered dogs on it. He also has a barrel type ID tag with two telephone numbers on. Fergus was a rescue dog and he is very nervous and timid especially with men. He will run away from them barking if they approach him. With females he is much better and trust them more.  Loud noises, heavy traffic etc. make him very nervous and he will run to get to quieter places. There have been no sightings of him at all so far. He is microchipped and will possibly hide away somewhere.
