Dear doglost,
Thank you so much for your web site, I was telephoned last week from a lady in Cornwall telling me of her son’s dog that was lost on his return to Scotland. This dog was Maisy, who has just been reunited with its owner, thanks to your web site. I give general canine advice for the dogs today mag, and the people and dog society (pads) canine advice life line. I advised that her son contacted doglost asap and put photos and details on you web page, this he did and thankfully Maisy was found. As you know and Maisy has proved the world wide web can cause miracles to happen.
Thanks for being there.
Charlie

Agreed Jeremy that Maisy will have been very stressed and frightened finding herself in the situation she was in, and that will have caused her to defend herself against any predator. After all she did not know that this person was trying to save her from death in a RTA. Also, don't worry about her not liking injections. the chipping process is very quick and painless and it is really important for her safety.I had a similar situation locally, a couple of months ago, with another JR who was running all over the main road but was more than snappy as we tried to catch her. She was another very lucky dog who spent a couple of nights on the run in unknown territory, as she was far from home until she was captured eventually, as she recognised her owner and allowed herself to be caught. Hope Maisy's saviour is not in too much pain. Keep us all updated please.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everybody - many thanks for all your comments - Nina I will whisper in Maisys ear - but...... she ain't to good with injections. Another phone call tonight is casting a little insight to Maisys capture, she is a very lucky dog - as it appears she was wondering freely all over the A9 when she was caught. And being caught seems to caused a bit of a problem!!!! Maisy has never biten any one in her life but it might appear the stress of the moment was too much at the time, from what I have gathered whilst being caught Maise has biten the capture, sufficently enough that he is still currently in hospital! Monday is going to throw a bit more light on things and I will post another update. Regards Jeremy. Ps - meanwhile Maise has settled in beside the fire as if shes never been a way!    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jeremy/Scot-Jezzer,  Well done in getting Maisy back home....one very lucky dog.  Please whisper in her ear that she gave me sleepless nights thinking that she was out in this bad weather.  Let her whisper in your ear that she would very much like to be micro chipped asap!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all - its just taken me 3 times to log in as I'm still shaking!!! WE'VE GOT HER BACK :-)) Around 12pm Munlochy Rescue home rang to see if we had got her back yet, of coarse the response was no, the lady said there has been a white Jack Russell handed in at Aviemore police station - alive! Jubilation started but with caution. I rang the police at Aviemore and then directed me on to some kennels at the Boat of Garten, armed with telephone number I made that call! from our conversation it had to be Maisy fit and well!! We immediatly left to get her, when at the kennels the owner lady took me in past all these other barking dogs, eventually getting to a very quiet/subdude kennel, I seen her there with her head down sat back in the corner - it was the ultimate "real lost dog" I said "Maisy" her head came up - it was as if she was looking through blurred eyes - but not long until the tale stared to waggle - it was Maisy back fit and well, she ran out and in to the car kissing all in her path - Thank you to anyone who in any way made enquiries to our missing Maise and thank you to Linda at Doglost, you were a great help - a donation will follow. Can barely bellieve this but owner is on his way to pick up Maisy right now. What an extremely lucky wee dog and owner to have been brought together again in such circumstances, especially when she is not chipped .Had a phone call from Maisy's owner, not long ago, to say that someone had picked her up on the A9 and taken her to the police station. Goodness, it has been minus 20c up in that area. It is a miracle that she did not freeze to death. Anyway, she has gone to the kennels and will be coming home today, as soon as her owner can get over there.  Hope she gets her microchip as a coming home present. As it happens she must have escaped from the car, nearer to home rather than further. It could have been so different. I am really surprised that she has been found but absolutely delighted. STAY SAFE LITTLE MAISY. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is a web site called The Scottish Association of Farmers Markets.  What about the NFU they may have a web site you could post on.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Scot- Jezzer have you put up posters in any truck stops where drivers stop off for something to eat.  Are ther any big transport companies that would take copies for their drivers to see.   I wonder if truck drivers still use lorry to lorry communication where they have their own call sign.  Not sure how you would do any of these but just playing about with ideas.  What about getting a large banner printed for the side of the road. Do any coach companies use the roads that you travelled.  Do farmers have their own web site that you could get on.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all, we have spent all this week contacting local authorities, police, rescue homes, radio and even STV television to see if they could do anything for us, needless to say the weather is taking priority. Our big issue is we do really know where she jumped out the car, which does sound bad but after such a long journey each time I did stop to clean lights etc my children were asleep. Ands its the not knowing which is the worst thing for any one in this situation, as I write this I look out my window expecting her just to merryly stroll up the lane!!! In the event she is closer to home than we think then we will have to hope we see her some time, in the event she did jump out when we stopped on the A9 then I dont know if we will ever see our Mais again. Linda (Doglost) you have been fantastic for directions, I will be on the case again today.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is no news of this wee dog so far. Please check all local rescues, and media coverage between Perth and Inverness for information on Maisy. Goodness knows where she is, but with help from the public we may be able to find her somewhere. I have given owner a list of sites to place her on, alongside Doglost, as missing, and some media contacts to see if they will take the story. It is the only way she is going to be found I think - lots of media coverage.PLEASE look out for Maisy wherever you are.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On a return from Cornwall, Maisy escaped from the car - perhaps at Perth or nearly at Inverness at a layby on A9. Could be at Munlochy -owner cannot be sure. This will be some job finding a wee dog missing in such a huge area between the borders and Inverness.Offered advice and sent poster to Scottish Rescues. God, I hope someone has seen her and taken her in from this awful weather..Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
