I thought you would all like to see a re-united picture of Sarge who is looking back like his old self again as you will see - settled on the sofa just like he was before- like the picture on the right which was taken before he went missing. His health has caught up again and he has put on most of the weight he lost while missing. Welcome home beautiful boy. xx  Hugs and kisses handsome. I am SOOOOO glad you are home.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

And a big thank you to you Ambi's Mum. If you had not listed the dog on Doglost on behalf of the owners, we would not have known about him and been able to give the help and advice we have done, in getting the dog home. Thanks to all concerned including yourself who helped with posters too, Sarge is home, and his mum and dad are delighted. He is stretched out on the sofa between them being pampered. It is going to take some time for him to recover from this mentally and physically, but his mum and dad are there for him every step of the way.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is great news that Sarge is home but he is going to need lots of TLC. He is extremely thin, to the extent that his backbone and ribs can be clearly felt, and he is also extremely weak in that he can barely walk from one room to the next. I am sure he will be fine once he feels secure and rested and it will just take time to slowly build him up. His owners are feeding little and often and he is eating small amounts regularly. So glad he has been found though, and I will be updating the site with news as I get it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Does anyone know of another GSD missing in the area ? Have done some searching and cannot find any similar dog missing in the Edinburgh area. Please contact us at Doglost if you know of any other GSD missing as there is another one out there running around. It must be someone's dog.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Can barely believe that he has been found and owner is on the way to kennels to pick him up. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!! (screams of delight) Owners had been chasing the wrong dog this morning - another GSD who looked like their dog  - SARGE , but on closer inspection found it not to be him. HOWEVER ----- unbelievably, when the owners were out there, their phone rang and it was their daughter to tell them that Sarge had been seen in a street at Loanhead wandering around and was picked up by a member of the public and handed in to police who then passed him onto the kennels. Dog was scanned and owners were contacted. Owners are on  the way to get him now. He is thin and very frightened but he is ALIVE and well. Lady at kennels says he is very timid, not at all like a dog that has been out running around in the countryside for nearly 3 weeks. Kennels are giving him a check over right now. Oh I am so glad this boy is safe as the farmer on whose ground he has been seen was threatening to shoot him. To be honest, we do not  know if this was Sarge at all who had been sighted in farmer's fields, seeing as there is another dog out there who looks so similar. Updates and pictures will follow. Big kisses and hugs to you SARGE - you handsome hunk. xxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

YES !!! HE HAS BEEN SIGHTED ! He has come back to the original area where he was sighted before - as predicted. He has shelter there and food left by the owner. Someone who the owner gave a flier to, saw the dog, &  has followed him for an hour and a half this morning trying to see where he was going to settle, then rushed home to call the dog's owners, who are out here now trying to get him, but the dog is terrified and keeps running off. FINGERS CROSSED. !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been in touch with the owners of this dog every day, asked for help through BIGGSD & GSD rescue Scotland, and a few people have come forward which has been greatly appreciated. We still need helpers please. The owners have no transport and no internet access. There have been no sighting of this dog for a week now. He may have left the area that he was sighted in, and we need more postering done in areas of Edinburgh further afield, if anyone can do so. Please email me at sable77doglost@gmail.com and posters and fliers will be emailed by return. Owners phone numbers posted below with their permission. Please call them if you can help in any way. Thanks.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The found dog AT SSPCA is not the same one as the missing one above. Someone abandoned this poor GSD at ASDA. Tied him up AND LEFT HIM THERE. Poor doggy is going to have not much of a xmas now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

One of our volunteers took the family out today and left posters with people living nearby.
Another volunteer doing a search all day Boxing Day. Hope we can bring him home before then.

Balerno SSPCA found a GSD tied up either outside the centre or at a local Asda. Sorry story is a bit sketchy.
Tried to call to see if it is this dog but centre is closed for the day.
Can you please ask owners to call 03000 999 999?
Centre open tomorrow 10-4.

A couple of very kind people have come forward to help but we need more PLEASE. The same helper cannot go out every day so if anyone else can come forward please do so, and it would be very much appreciated. The phone numbers for owners are below. We have to find this boy now before he comes to grief.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This boy's details are on the rescue forum, i noticed them just as i was about to ask for any helpers in that area :) I have asked that if there is anybody nearby who could help, then it would be appreciated. A few rescues have already added his details to their forums and members are cross posting where they can to ask for help. If anybody can help i will point them in this direction. I really hope he is reunited very very soon, poor boy. Stay safe until then  :( xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog has been seen down beside Penicuick road heading back up towards Roslin, so could be heading back towards Lasswade, Loanhead area where he has been seen before and near where he went missing from. He must be extremely nervous and frightened now, not to mention hungry and cold. Is there anyone out there who can help with transport to search with the owners, who have no transport? Please call the numbers posted below if you can help. PLEASE, we need assistance with this one. He is out there after being lost from home for 2 weeks now. Anyone who requires posters or fliers to print &  distribute please email me at sable77doglost@gmail.comLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The owners of this dog say it is the breed as stated. This dog is very like a german shepherd though and I have stated this on the poster sent to  Scottish Rescues. Dog warden in the area is aware of this dog and knows what to look for. Please everyone, look out for this dog who LOOKS LIKE a LONG HAIRED GSD. Thanks.I think others are thinking along the same lines as you Moobli.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This boy is definitely a longhaired GSD.  Can the breed description be changed on here, as it could confuse people and stop this lad getting back home.  Fingers crossed he is home safe and sound soon.  He is gorgeous.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog has been seen beside Lasswade. Dog warden knows of this. If you see this dog, do not approach him unless you are experienced in this type of situation, as he will be very frightened now. Call police or dog warden. Owner has no transport. If anyone can help with transport for the owner to help search and get this dog home please call owner on 01314678860 /07817566006. Sent a poster to Scottish Rescues yesterday when the dog came onto the site. Hopefully he would be scanned and brought together with the owner if picked up and taken to kennels, but I will send another message with a poster saying that the dog looks like a GSD so there could be confusion.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've had GSDs in my family all my life and owned them myself for 30 years and I must admit when I seen this one thought looks more like a GSD.  It is important that family make enquiries on GSD'S and put this on posters.  Hope he is found soon.  Good luck.  Jan x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Going to be brutal here because after speaking to 2 Turv breeders and experts they have both stated this is not a Turv and may slip through the net because Police and Dogwardens will class this dog as a GSD.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The dog lives in EH4 area but was lost in EH18 Poltonhall.  Has been sighted on Wednesday 9th December in Loanhead area.  He has never been away from home before and will be very nervous. Hannah is owners surname name NOT dogs name.  They don't want dogs name advertised.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
