So sorry to report the news that beautiful Poppy has gone to Rainbow Bridge now. Her body was found near the Railway tracks according to Dogstrust, West Calder. The person who discovered the body at that time, was certain it was Poppy. Her remains were there when Dogstrust people went to check it out. So sad. What an awful ending for a girl who had a great future in a new home.

Thanks AR. Any help is good. She is moving further away and is proving very difficult to find. The report on the last sighting was that she was VERY thin.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I live in East Calder and regularly walk the dogs through Almondell, Calderwoods and up the bing.  All easily accessible from West Calder.  Will put the word out with other local dog walkers to keep an eye out.  Give me a shout if you need more.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Not overly familiar with Polbeth but I know there is the Five Sisters Zoo, would she be attracted to the animals/smells/noises?  There was also a lady in Polbeth that helped reunite pets and owners (I once took her a cockatoo Id found) - http://www.petsearchwestlothian.co.uk/ Also there was an outlet village out that way Freeport I think, its now closed down but 'village' might provide a good place for her to hide. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi AR. The only info I was given was what has been posted below, so I think the best thing to do is to call Gracehounds to see if they can be more specific. The numbers are below but I will text them to you.Thanks. Any help is appreciated.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the suggestion. I will pass this on.  I think they will have tried this, but you never know. It is always a good thing to do to draw any dog out.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I help with greyhound rescue down here in Surrey - my suggestion is that you might try walking with another greyhound - these dogs relate so well to others of their own type and another greyhound might just draw her to you. I wish you success in catching her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Sable - can you tell me where she was spotted, I often walk my dogs along the Almond and can look out for her - although I think my 3 would scare her as well but I could always tie asbo Scottie to a tree or something. Wish I could help more but personal circumstances at the moment dont allow it  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

At last a confirmed sighting. Email from Gracehounds. Poppy was spotted this morning about 4 - 5 miles as the crow flies from the last sighting.  She was just outside Livingston and seems to be following the River Almond.  As soon as we got the call Lois and some others went straight out but again no luck.  Dog wardens, vets , police etc in that area have all been informed and also posters put up.  The lady that saw her said that she was trying to feed her but the ladies dog frightened her off.
PLEASE everyone keep a lookout for her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Through Doglost, I have passed on lots of trapping and scenting advice to the girls at Gracehounds, who are looking for Poppy, and they are very grateful for all help given. I have also alerted all helpers in the area to see if anyone can search or poster. Hope we can get as many as possible out there. The weather is getting very, very cold up here and this is not good for a very thin, fragile greyhound. I hope she is safe somewhere.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog slipped her collar when being moved to the Dogstrust to be re-homed. She has been on the run since 16th Nov. and is very timid and nervous. There have been sightings around a local farm a couple of days ago. I have chatted at length with the person who was fostering her and offered advice. Will be sending fliers and posters as soon as I get a photo. If seen, do not approach this dog as she will bolt. Please call these numbers if there are any sightings.  07989 963556 07945213977  OR 01506873459 (Dogstrust)Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
