I have permission to copy the email from Timmy's family. I thought you might like to read it.  :-   Hi Hazel,

I am afraid that we have some bad news.  Annabel, our daughter rang the police to see if they could contact the person who saw the dead dog in the road on the 23rd August.  The police kindly did and it appears that there is little doubt that it was Timmy.  She described him exactly as we would have, and he was definitely dead.  The frustrating thing is not knowing what they have done with the body.  Barnet council are hugely unhelpful.  I've tried all the vets etc in the area, but nothing so I assume that they eventually picked him up, although when you ask they say that they don't really keep a record of these things!! Can you believe it?!

Anyway, we all want to thank you so so much for all the help and support you have given us, at least we know that the end was quick and he wasn't wandering on his own for too long, and that he isn't being mistreated etc.  It is sad, but at least we can now grieve for him.  Thank you so so much again, and we are all sorry that it couldn't have been a happier ending, although had that been down to your perserverance it certainly would have!  You do a splendid job, and you reall ykept us going, and I know Timmy would have been hugely grateful too.

Many many thanks, and much love,

Warm light coming from far below,
Twinkling, sparkling is the candle’s glow.
All is well up on the ridge,
The place we know as Rainbow Bridge.

Furbabies sleeping in heaven’s light,
Tended by candles in the night.
Peaceful dreams be theirs to keep,
As they slumber in this night so deep.

Hearts on earth that miss them so,
Take comfort in the candle’s glow.
Watching for them in skies above,
Bound eternally by a cord of love

The worst news I'm afraid. Timmy did not make it home. He was involved in an RTA several days ago and nobody informed his owners. He would have been killed outright, so at least he did not suffer. I am so so upset about this one, and so wanted him home. His family have tried so hard, and done everything I have suggested. Life is so unfair. Bless you Timmy, and your family. You run free at Rainbow Bridge, and be safe with all your new found friends, all young again. XXX  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The lady saw Timmy on Temple Fortune Lane on Thursday 27th Aug. and will call if she sees him again. The family were in that area all day yesterday putting up posters, which the lady saw. Also, a call came in yesterday morning from a lady who?d seen him on Finchley Road near Hoop Lane, heading back towards suburb. This is not far at all from the house belonging to the relatives, so could well be trying to find that. I have spoken at length re scenting and ways to entice him in, and family are heading there tomorrow again. In the meantime the relatives will possibly be able to lay scent themselves, and will place bedding and food by the door. I?m sure he?s picking up on scents around there, and trying to get back. If he finds the food, I know he?ll be back.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poster sent to Battersea. Owner is working hard informing vets and authorities in the area. He is doing all he possibly can, and is trying to get Timmy into the papers. He also intends going back to the area as soon as he possibly can, as believes Timmy could be still holed up somewhere. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Mims Mum and Houndlover - you are both stars !! Thank you so much for all the help. Poor owner has had no news whatso ever. He has informed dog wardens and Battersea and put up some hand written posters in the area, but unfortunately had no choice but to return to Nottingham for work. His immediate family are on holiday, and the relatives he was visiting in London have a family member just home from intensive care, so unable to be of much help. If there is anyone who is will ing to put up posters, the temporary one can be downloaded from here, once you are registered and logged in, by clicking on DOG POSTER 1, above the dog detail boxes left hand side. I will do flyers later tonight, which will be available from yasa02@live.co.uk.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On behalf of a friend who lives near to this area. I just wanted them to know that I've sent out all the information to all the professional dog walkers in the heath so if he is still anywhere in the area everyone will be keeping an eye out. Praying he's back with his family soon  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please do help search if you are in the area. Owner needs all the help they can get. Twelve year old dog not in home area needs a lot of luck. Anyone reasonably local,  please dont be afraid to contact owner and offer your support. Thanks  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Email and photo received in Admin: Timmy is a ginger 12 year old Labrador/Whippet cross with a white muzzle.  He lives in Nottingham and was visiting London when he got lost at 9.30pm on Saturday 22 August, in the area of Meadway Gate NW11. He is chipped and has a collar with his Nottingham address on.
His family are desperate to find him.  Can you help please?  As soon as we receive a phone number for the poster it will be added. Photo now uploaded, posters can be printed by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information  (you must be registered and logged in).  Once the posters start getting in the right areas fingers crossed you get the phone call you are waiting for.  Good luck.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
