DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Just to let you know that on Saturday 15th a local farmer rang to say he had found a dog fitting Lucy’s description in his steep sided lake about 1/2 hour walk from our house about 2 weeks ago ie a few days after she went missing. She had drowned, and having no tag on he buried her. His brother in law gave him our number after seeing my poster in another nearby village. I have put a comment on the website but could not update her status. While we did not find her alive, at least the posters helped find out what happened. Keep up the good work Sally Regards,

We have now received news of Lucy from a local farmer who found a dog fitting Lucy's description around the time she went missing. She had fallen into his steep sided lake having followed a wild animal track through a hedge along the road onto his land. She had been unable to get out and drowned. He had buried her on his farm and eventually got our number from a poster I had put up in another village that had been seen by his brother in law. So the posters were effective in finding out what had happened.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sadly, despite putting up lots of posters and leaflets to all the houses in the village there has been no sign at all of poor Lucy. I think I have accepted that she has died somewhere and hope she did not suffer too much. Thanks to everyone in Aston Abbotts that looked for her. Was amazed to read on your dogs reunited section of a dog found after over 3 weeks in a trap. Lucy was too old to survive anything like that.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can suggest an advert to Lucy's owner but I think she is convinced now that Lucy is dead :( Lots of folk have talked about dogs taking themselves off to die. I don't know if this really happens or not. Lucy vanished last thing at night & there is not much traffic through our vllage - just a few cars passing to neighbouring villages which have all been postered.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Any news? I wonder if maybe she was picked up by someone - have you thought about putting an ad in the local paper?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have put flyers through every door in the village now & asked folk to check gardens, sheds, outbuildings. Posters up in the surrounding villages too. No sightings. Owner is off to call in at a couple more farms in the vicinity  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear about Lucy.  Very worrying. I know how hard you will be working to support your friend Liz, and will be thinking of you both.  Hope you have some more people near to you who can help you with your search.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to hear Lucy is missing. Get loads of posters up - they really do work. She may have fallen into a ditch or got tangled up in brambles. Come home safely Lucy. BridgetLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Make sure you check all ditches and hedge bottoms in case she has fallen down and get your neighbours to check in their sheds and garages in case she has got locked in.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Description of dog not complete. Nose was previously broken so has noticeable dent in it. Tail has dropped due to deterioration of spine. She cannot wag itLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have been out looking for her this afternoon & spreading the word but no sign at all as yet. Lucy is quite frail these days & doesn't normally move very fast so we are all very concerned. LizLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lucy went out in the garden last night for her last toilet and     must have wandered off.  She is elderly and frail.  Owners contacted dog warden, vets, rescues etc.  Given advice re postering.  Should have photo on site asap.  Please watch out for this dog, she does slightly resemble a saluki but more medium sized..Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I hope this old girl is back home very soon!  Put lots of "missing" posters up, and contact the dog warden, local vets and resue centres.  Good luck finding her.  xx
