That's fantastic news! Having trekked around the area looking for George on Saturday I knew that it would be quite a task to find him with the corn so high and all the wooded areas close to where he was being seen. You must be so relieved to have him home. What a wonderful start to the week. Bridget Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update 8.25am Monday 13th July 2009   The first call today came in at 6.30am reporting that George had been sighted by a lorry driver on the A120 heading in the Bishop Stortford direction at 'Owl fencing.' Roy followed that up but then Roy received a further 11 sightings that George was heading back on him towards the sewage works at Standon to familiar ground.   A call came in that George was contained within a garden in the Standon Ford area, and this time there was no escape so a few minutes after 8am George and Roy were finally reunited! Fantastic news and a HUGE relief for everyone concerned.   Roy and Sue would like to say THANK YOU to everyone, and I'm  sure George would add his thanks too if he could.   Jude - Bernese Welfare UK 01787 371940Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update 11.30pm Sunday 12th July 2009   The search party were out in force all day today but with no luck.  George had failed to respond to his owner's calls when he was sighted earlier in the day and everyone was really hoping that today would be George's last day of freedom.  At around 7pm this evening George was reported to have been in the garden of a house at Standon Hill, near the A120 at Standon but he didn't hang around long enough to be caught despite the delicious aroma of the householders roast dinner cooking!      With many of this weekend's searchers having to resume their weekday commitments, George's owners Roy and Sue will continue to stay in the area and concentrate their attention on the Mill End, Mill Lane area of Standon which George is known to have returned to several times, mostly in the early morning and early evenings.  We can only hope he remains in that area.   If anyone wishes to volunteer to help with the search during this week then please contact Wendy Murray on 07880 688675.   If George hasn't been recovered by next Friday (17th July)  then another co-ordinated search for next weekend will be organised - keep watch for updates.   Roy and Sue would like to thank everyone most sincerely for the tremendous help and support they have received during this traumatic time.  The kindness of the Bernese folk and other sympathetic dog owners has been overwhelming.    Jude - Bernese Welfare UK 01787 371940Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update 8.30am Sunday 12th July 2009   A few more volunteers have offered their services to search for George today so Thank you very much to all the foot soldiers who are traipsing around the Standon area!   There were two more sightings of George this morning - a little after 5am and again a little after 7am so the posse are in hot pursuit!  All the searchers are putting every ounce of effort into following his trail and also trying to predict where he will pop up next and head him off so keep your fingers crossed that luck is on their side today.   Jude - Bernese Welfare UK 01787 371940Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update 12.45pm Saturday 11th July 2009   The co-ordinated search is well underway with volunteers turning up from the crack of dawn today.  George was sighted this morning near the school in Standon but bolted when his name was called, he seems intent on avoiding people and remaining elusive which is very frustrating for everyone involved.  The search continues.  Thank you to everyone who is helping.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update 1.40pm Friday 10th July 2009 Plans for a co-ordinated search for SATURDAY 11th July are now in hand and the meeting place for those coming to help with the search is just off the A10 / A120 roundabout.  You can e.mail Jude at  bernerinfo@aol.com  for a map and directions to the meeting point to be e.mailed back to you. Wendy Murray will co-ordinate the search from that meeting point - she will be there from early Saturday morning but if you should arrive and find no one there then just call Wendy on 07880 688675 Jude can be reached any time on a landline and can relay messages etc - 01787 371940   There are a lot of fields and bridlepaths in the area so if anyone has a mountain bike and would like to bring that they could cover a lot more ground much more quickly.    Please check for updates and last-minute arrangements before leaving home to take part in the search.  Updates will be posted here on George's page on DogLost  and also at www.bernese.tv www.bernesenews.btik.com http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/bernese-in-gb Jude - Bernese Welfare 01787 371940Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just remembered that there are some boarding kennels in Braughing (or at least there used to be, not sure if they are still there).  I think they were in Station Road.  Maybe if there are still there, posters could be put up there.  If someone found him they may take him there.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Message from helper Silent Paws who is having trouble posting... I have emailed Georges Poster to Richmond Coach Company in Barley, a few villages along from Braughing and Puckeridge and asked the drivers to keep an eye out for him as they all either live in or drive through these villages at all times of the day and night. They have been helpful in the past sighting other missing dogs in the area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update 11.30pm Thursday 9th July 2009   A report was received at teatime today that George was seen in Standon but it turned out to be a rather delayed report of a sighting made earlier in the day.  Sadly George's owner and others involved in the search failed to locate him. The search will resume tomorrow in the same area.   Planning for a coordinated search on Saturday 11th July is now underway and volunteers are needed and will be most welcome.     There is a convenient meeting place just off the A10 / A120 roundabout and anyone willing to participate in the search can e.mail Jude at  bernerinfo@aol.com  for a map and directions to the meeting point to be e.mailed back to you.   Wendy Murray will co-ordinate the search from that meeting point and is planning to be there early Saturday morning but if you happen to arrive and there is no one there then just ring Wendy's mobile number. 07880 688675   Jude can be reached any time on a landline and can relay messages etc if needed - 01787 371940    Please check for updates and last-minute arrangements before leaving home to take part in the search.  Updates and any other relevant details or plans will be posted here on DogLost, and also at www.bernese.tv www.bernesenews.btik.com http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/bernese-in-gb   Jude - Bernese Welfare UK  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Update Wednesday 8th July 2009 5pm   Despite searching all day in the area that George had been seen this morning (near the village of BRAUGHING which is just off the B1368,  north of PUCKERIDGE, a few miles northeast of the A10 - A120 roundabout) George was nowhere to be found.  A couple of local people reported that they had seen him yesterday in the same area.   The search will continue in that area tonight and again tomorrow unless he is sighted elsewhere.  The local area has been alerted by posters etc and the area has been and will be scented and baited.    Wendy is still thinking along the lines that if George hasn't been recovered by Friday then more volunteers to take part in a search on Saturday will be needed so if anyone would be interested in helping with that search would you please let Wendy know.   Sightings should be reported to Wendy Murray on 01621 778942 or her mobile 07880 688675   Jude - Bernese Welfare 01787 371940Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If you have been sent scenting advice please, please follow it. It does work and may well keep him in the area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi ya Wendy/Tricolour   As per our phone conversation, I went to the area tonight where George was spotted and had a good walk around for an hour, calling his name etc. I met a friend of yours called Lee who was also looking and pointed out the areas where George had been previously. I also met another local couple. Unfortunately, I had to leave around 10.15pm; so could you pass on my apologies to them as at this point, we'd split up in different directions. I stopped quite a few people, one lady took your details and said she would also help to look as she walks her dogs everyday in this area. I may not be able to go up and look tomorrow due to work but will definately be up every other night. Let's hope he's back home safe and sound by then. Please let me know if there is any other help I can offer. Stay safe George, you'll be back home very soon. Denise xx    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm really sorry to hear that George is missing.  The Medivet at Little Hadham along the A 120 are not that far away from Puckeridge and Old Hall Green.  Their phone number is 01279 771144.  I don't have their fax number.  Perhaps if posters could be got to them, they may be able to put them up, in case George is handed in there.  I hope there is some news about him soon.  I am not too far away from Puckeridge, so if there is anything I can do, please let me know.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

9am Tuesday 7th July 2009 Hello Denise, Thanks for the info - have passed it along to those in the area who are looking for George. There was a sighting of George last night in the village of Puckeridge not far from where he went missing, but to get there he would have had to cross a major roundabout and the A10. When called he did bark but then he ran off, the search went on till about 10.30 last night and will resume today.   Jude Simonds - Bernese Welfare UK 01787 371940Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hello Tricolour, Sorry to hear that George is missing. I live in Ware, just off the Town Centre, SG12. If I can be of any help, please let me know via the website, or contact me on: 07971-239715. In the meantime, put up as many posters as you can and contact the local Dog Warden; which I think is Mike Abbey of East Herts District Council, 01279-655261 (I think it's him anyway)!  Also, contact the local vets in the area, I'm happy to help with this if necessary. The more posters up, the more people will be aware. It really does work. Stay safe George. Denise xx    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

10pm Monday 6th July 2009 George, a 13 month old male Bernese has gone missing this afternoon (Monday 6th July) from the Old Hall Green area of Ware, Hertfordshire (SG11 postcode)
George and his Bernese companion were holidaying with a friend of his owner and George has somehow managed to wandered off the premises in an area he is unfamiliar with.
George is wearing a red collar bearing his owner's mobile number and possibly the telephone number of his vet.
George may be apprehensive of approaching a stranger so care should be taken not to spook him if he is sighted.
Sightings should be reported to Wendy Murray on 01621 778942 or her mobile 07880 688675 Jude Simonds - Bernese Welfare UK 01787 371940
