Just had a call from Ruby's very grateful owner and Ruby has been found. She was picked up by a member of the public and handed to the dog warden, so is safe in kennels and owners will be collecting her shortly. Owner is very grateful to Doglost for all the help and would like very much to stay on as helper. Willing to put posters up for other people with lost dogs in the area. Thank you so much for that !! And a big thank you to the kind member of the public who helped Ruby get home. Welcome home Ruby x   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owners are working hard. No more sightings of Ruby today, but this is to be expected, as would be either resting up, or travelling further, trying to set her routes, on whch she can find food and water. This is of course, if she has not been picked up, in which case we hope there is some news after the weekend. Two safe places have been set up where Ruby was last seen, and food and water have been left with owners scent, so we hope it wont be long before she will pass this way again. Owners were back there at day break this morning but no sign, but this may be a bit early if she has moved slightly further out. May be covering more ground now. More postering is being done. The more posters, the more chance of sightings coming in.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner, if you would like to leave a comment on Ruby's page, just click on the blue cross, just above where the comments are and a text box will open up for you. You need to be logged in to do this. I hope you have had more sightings of Ruby during the day, and that you have got the scenting done now. Maybe light a portable barbeque tomorrow in the area you think she is. The smell of cooking sausages travels for miles. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another sighting of Ruby 12.30 today - children were playing with her just off the golf course on the devils dyke trail. Children just left her sitting there when they went away, Unfortunately Ruby moved on too. Have advised hundreds more posters so more sightings will come in, and to make one or two safe places for her to find tonight. One or two nasty roads around there, which are cause for concern. Need to try to keep her to a woody safe area.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great that there has been a sighting !! Email from owner- Hi Hazel, thank you for your email, Ruby escaped from the back garden yesterday morning, she had only been out there a short time when i realised she'd gone, the only way she could've got out is under the iron gate as it has a 8-10" gap underneath it. She has never done this before but there is usually something in front of the gate but unfortunately this had been moved the day before unbeknown to me. We searched for her straight away, on foot at first in the roads around our street and local park but without luck so we contacted the council dog warden and went out in the car. There was a couple of sightings of her in Hangleton near the Grenadier ( local shopping parade) but by the time we got there she had gone. We spent best part of the day looking for her but as you probably know it is like looking for a needle in a haystack as there have been no further sightings of her which makes me think somebody may of taken her in, she is a very friendly and pretty girl who will go to people and as she was not wearing a collar people may assume she's a stray, although obviously they should still ring the council or police. In a way i hope she has been taken in as it was a really horrible night here with heavy rain but i hope if they have they do the right thing. We placed an ad in our local paper ( the argus ) yesterday which will be published today, we have put posters up on lamposts and in the window of the local pet shop. We are going out again shortly to look for her and put up more posters as i feel sick to my stomache and hate sitting around waiting for the phone to ring, i am already dreading it getting dark again today. Thanks again for your advice and i will try the food thing tonight although there are many foxes around here and it will probably be eaten by them but at least the bowl and clothing item will be out there which will be familliar to her, its worth a try.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
