What a little sweetie. How awful for the owners that they have been searching for him all this time, and just to find out now, that he has been in a RTA. I wonder how many times this happens. It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part. There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us It's the bridge that we call love.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Despite Ken contacting the Highways Agency a few times previously it was only when Vicky tried again that they got through to someone who CARED and they took the time to check back on all the logs.  This is so flaming well frustrating, Dan and Vicky have been through so much heartache in their continued search.  A big THANK YOU to whoever followed it up and think others need their backside kicking (that is putting it mildly).  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is with very sad regret I've received the news today that we all dread, poor Spud has been involved in a fatal RTA.  The Highways Agency contacted Ken today to report a dog fitting Spud's description was killed on the M62 motorway on the evening he went missing, all the details fit including time and description.  Ken and Vicky would like to pass on their thanks to DL. Ken and Vicky we are so sorry that this is the outcome you have tried so hard to find him.  Run free at the Bridge and sweet dreams lovely Spud you will be deeply missed by your family.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ken fingers crossed this is Spud you need to poster this area and hopefully it will bring more calls.  Take a poster to Leigh Golf Club.  Make sure you mark it on a map and anymore sightings that you get.  Contact the DW and report the sighting in case anyone has contacted them.  Good luck.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ken & Vicky, Please don't let the prank call get you down. Remember there are more of us that are here to help than some mindless fool who has nothing better to do with their time! I'm hoping I can get round your area at some point this weekend with posters to help out and get more area covered. Keep your eyes open for any school fairs, car boot sales etc any place where a large group of people will be gathered where you can hand out posters. Also worth passing to refuse collectors, milk man, lollipop ladies - anyone with a good general knowledge of the area who covers it on a regular basis. If they have a poster and see anything they have your contact details to hand straight away. Keep your chin up and carry on with the postering! Good luck! Vicki Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry Ken you have had what looks like a prank call.  Some people of not got anything better to do but build peoples hopes up, you have the number, if they carry on you can report it to the Police (Numbers can be traced to where they are ringing from).  Keep up the brilliant work.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Cheers for the positive comments we have moved further afield now with the posters to see if we get any feedback. This morning my girlfriend got a text text saying "i have found your dog" so we rung the number staight away which was 07901746278 and the phone was off then when i rang again it just rang so i kept trying and it started to get put down after one ring so we think it is a crank caller. These people must be total idiots getting your hopes up like that we got really excited but it was not to be.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

http://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/ Ken thanks for updating us and the phone call this morning, sorry you had problems trying to post.  Try and get some media coverage, any free papers in your area, Warrington Guardian contact details are on the above link.  As we discussed on the phone it can sometimes take a few weeks for someone to see a poster or coverage in a paper.  You are all doing a brilliant job keep it up.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoken to owner tonight, he has not got access all the time on the internet.  Spud was being walked by owners partner, something spooked him and he ran off.  They have been doing all the right things getting posters out in the area.  A lady did ring after seeing a poster in a pet store and thinks she seen him but was not 100% sure it was him.  Have given owner further advice and places to contact and poster.  A farmer in the area Spud has gone missing in is being very helpful.  Spud normally goes in and out of his home through a catflap, the gate has been left open incase he makes his own way home.  Owner and friends have been searching the area from early in the morning.  They will be leaving a blanket where Spud was last seen. Will email SCENTING/MAPPING Instructions to owner, have gone through this with him and how to react if they see Spud.  Owner has done his own posters and will do smaller ones for handing out.  Good luck and hope to see little Spud back home soon.  Jan x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry to see Spud is missing.  Thanks for registering his details with DL, we will do all we can to help you in your search.  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible, we cannot stress enough the importance of the postering.  Posters can be printed once a photo has been added by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be logged in).  Contact DW's, rescues, vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Dogs can be rehomed after 7 days, try and visit rescues do not rely on phone calls alone.  Please update us on who has been contacted i.e. DW's etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting   Add a comment  just above Comments.  Good luck and hope she is  found soon.  BarbaraLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
