There is a very similar-looking dog on the Rochdale-dog-resuce page - called Baxter on the site. He may have white on chest and toes, but may be worth Archies owners taking a look:

No. 3694: BAXTER
Lurcher, male, approximately 5-6 years old. He is tan with black points, he has a smooth coat and he is large in size. Baxter is a little nervous initially but he is a friendly, gentle and steady boy.

If Archie is still missing please put him on the list for a Countryman's Weekly magazine advert

Any chance that found dog 36965 could be Archie?
jansus
may be worth keeping your eye on this site as there are dog wardens who post with lurchers for re-homing and the main section is a where they take dogs in that have not been claimed.

Sadly not Archie - his owners have been in contact with he kennels - sadly this cannot be Archie as he is estimated to be max 18 months old and Archie has been missing for longer than that and was an adult (2+) when he went missing

On this lost dog's listing it mentions a scar on left leg, I wonder if anyone can check on the found dog?
Mal
I have called but it is a ringtone abroad and I left a message asking them to log on to site for updates.

Thanks Sue ! I have spoken to Archies owners to let them know he is in the Countrymans this week. Despite his  owners  doing so much to try to  find their lovely boy there has been no definite word of him since he went missing. Hoping so much to see Archie home where he belongs xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am sorry to say there is still no news of dear Archie despite his owners postering and searching far and wide for him. x PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Try Greyhound And Lurcher Aid (GALA) and greyhounds Galore as both have good contacts and will have access to the pounds etc.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am going to try and get the word out amongst the lurcher people I know and have let the other dog walkers know in that area and further afield  The owner is being very proactive re postering and ooking out for him.  I will try and add hime to some lurcher websites and facebook on my page.  Hope hes found soon.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have spoken to Archies owner tonight and there has been no definite word of him since he was last seen chasing after a hare. One local man thinks he saw a dog very like Archie being walked by two scruffy men with another lurcher both on lengths of string and it looked like they had been rabbiting but we do not know for sure if this was Archie. His owners have informed dog wardens and stray kennels and have been postering locally. Tomorrow they are going further afield to poster. His owners feel someone may have found  Archie and kept him as he is a very friendly boy. Before he came to live with his present owners Archie had been badly treated and has a lump on his head  and also on his rib along with a heelmark. He also has a scar from an injury to his back leg. All of these will make it very easy to identify this much loved boy.Hoping to see this lovely boy back home again very soon xxx Pam    Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Photos cropped and re-loaded. Beautiful boy. I hope he is home soon. Posters can be printed from this page, but you must be registered and logged in. Then click on DOG POSTER 1 on left hand side above dogs details boxes and it will open up for printing. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
