Two possible sightings around Towednack, within about 3 miles of each other. Eyewitness descriptions of the dog emerging from undergrowth and taking roadkill sound very hopeful. Now looking for a site to place the trap. Bumping Jess up on the strength of this.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Holly, I did send the email - from curtainlady@btinternet.com - so it may have gone into your spam file. Will send again this afternoon. I looked on Dog Lost this afternoon as I hadn't heard from you. I'm a very physic person myself, I dowse too, and can tell you that the best way to find a lost dog, having just done this with Mabel the Airedale, is to stay focused on your own search, keep her sure and alive in your own mind and do loads and loads of postering - I put up hundreds and hundreds. I contacted all the local farmers, vets, horsey people (in Yellow pages) with a letter and a poster. Around where she was seen and in all points in a 5 mile radius of home - on lamp posts, in local shops, anywhere I could think of. I got everyone in the local area talking about her and looking for her too. Linda SnellinLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have spoken to an animal phycic/dowser who told me that she feels that Jess is still alive, shes picking up on the fact that jess is within 5-10miles of st.ives. She told me that Jess has a damaged front paw which has not been treated (the lady actually said that jess has not been to a vet) and that jess's health is around 6/10 at the moment. I don't have any experience with animal phycics but i know people that have used them. It doesnt really help us in anyway but im trying any route to get information. The lady is going to call me once a week with an update and does not charge. Thanks Holly xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi linda   i didn't get an email from you so that is why i haven't forwarded the poster that i made.  holly.rothschild@hotmail.co.uk ive had to deal with the police over the past 2 days as i received a text message with read  ' how much is the reward for the dog known as tammy(formerly known as jess)?'   the police can't do anything until these people text me again. i rang their mobile fromthe police station and they wouldnt give me any details and then they hung up on me. it is probably a hoax but you never know. Holly, I can poster around Trelissick area Bank Holiday weekend. Where would you like me to poster in the St. Buryan area particularly - only asking because I'm busy with curtain making suddenly and unexpectedly. I sent you email directly but look out for curtainlady in your spam box because it often goes there. Regards LindaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all. I meant to say the 22nd april in my previous post. Ive had another possible sighting although its no where near where she went missing. A lady called me on Friday night to say that she had been driving home from falmouth to Penlewey (near to trelissick gardens) and a little black dog ran out in front of her car and up the road in to a field. by the time she had got out of the car she could see the little dog running very fast accross a field towards a woodland area. When she got home she saw the picture in the paper and said the dog she saw was the splitting image of the dog in the paper. I have emailed the lady posters as she very kindly is going to put posters up for me and tell everyone shes knows. My mum and i drove out there on saturday and put up posters and visited lots of farms but noone has seen anything. Do any of you guys live in that area or in surrounding areas that could put up a poster? we are thinking that prehaps someone stole her and then she ran away from them. that would explain why noone has seen her. i am in the process of contacting vets and homes out side of penwith. is there any thing else i can do? obviously i can't go to penlewey everyday as im working full time but hopefully if it was her then someone will see the paper or posters. are there any other internet sites that i should be targetting? am so desperate for something hopefull, its breaking my familys heart. fingers crossed. x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi all Jess has still not been found. However a lady called me last week to say that she had deffinitly seen her on the back road between st.ives and Penzance near to Nancledra on April 2nd. She didnt see the poster in the cornishman until the following week and so didnt have a number to call. This means that she is not trapped down a hole or attacked by badgers. However there have been no sightings since then! We are now working with a Dowser who is tracking her and picking up on information. The Dowser says that she is alive and is in the area between Trencrom, Lelant and Carbisbay. A place called The Bowl Rock kept coming up. We bbq'd there on friday night but nothing. Are on are way out now for a walk in that area. Holly xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, will get some posters printed now I have my yellow ink, and start handing out to clients over the weekend and next week.
Mentioned Jess to all that were in today, but most were quite far away from that area. Nearest was Marazion.

Hi
Out of the people that we spoke to in the Carbisbay area said that they didn't know of any other little black dogs but the estate isnt far from where the dog was sighted so it could have come from there as there are lots of dogs there.
Am working in the Lands End/St.Just area today so will put up more posters over there.
Thanks everyone
Holly x

Well done with the postering!  Did you find out if the previous possible sighting in the Carbis Bay area was a local dog? If there is no local dog matching that description, it could well have been Jess. Try and find out if anyone in the area puts out food for the foxes, etc., as a ready food source like this may draw her in. It is a good idea, and very worthwhile, to leave a flyer with people you talk to. Let me know if you would like some done.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone. We have just been out and put posters up all through Nancledra, Criplesease, Trencrom,Trink, back part of Carbisbay, Laity Lane, Balnoon, Vorvus areas and then ran out of posters. Printing more off now. We spoke to lots of people in the area and no one had seen her. Have just driven back past Towednack and shouted but no sign. My mum and friends searched the Towednack area again this morning with my aunties collies but found nothing. I will put posters up further a field tomorrow incase she has moved to another area. I  think she is stuck somewhere as it doesn't make sense that no one has seen her. Thanks Holly. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi,
Even better than I thought.
Client with Gallery in St Ives went off with a poster to put up in Carbis bay on way home, and is printing one off for Gallery.
Mum came with he and actually lives between Towednack and Carbis Bay. She is putting a poster on her gate.
Both of them walk the back lanes in that area, and have 4 dogs between them.

Thanks, everyone, for your contributions, which are all much appreciated. Owners have been scenting/feeding for a few days now, so have suggested BBQ-ing, and the traps are standing by if needed.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi,
Have cross posted the possible sighting, seems Carbis Bay needs postering.
Looks like a much safer area for her to be.
St Ives client in today with Gallery, have posters at the ready.

May be worth setting up a feeding station where the possible sighting was. If she passes that way again, and finds food, she wil come back again. Do give it a try. Choose a dry safe place and leave water, bedding with familiar scent,- some bits of her bedding and owners scent,  and really smelly food. Try to keep her in the same area.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So pleased there has been a possible sighting, Holly. Keep going with the posters - the more people that can be made aware, the more chance we have of getting reported sightings.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Im Holly Jess's owner. We had a possible sighting of her today at 2pm half way between where she was lost and where we live. Someone reported that they had seen a small black dog wearing a red collar wandering along a farm track. The sighting was near to 'Mount Douglas Farm' on the out skirts of Carbisbay area. We went out looking all afternnon but didn't see anything and everyone we spoke to hadn't seen her either. There are people working in the area where she went missing every day so they are looking out for her. We are checking the area every night. I rang the terrier group as suggested below but the lovely man said that they only come out if we know that the dog is stuck down a rabbit hole etc and then they would help to dig her out. As we havent seen, or heard her barking, whining we dont actually know if she is down a hole. I have heard stories of dogs being found after 23 days so im trying to stay positive but im a complete wreck and cant help but fear the worst. Thank you all for your help, it really means alot Holly xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi,
difficult area for postering, although I seem to remember a few hotels around the Nancldra back road, also was a pub in Halsetown, and another outside Nancledra.
Gulval Dog training club may be worth contacting, I havn't her phone No. but called Anne Shaw and Lives around that neck of the woods somewhere.
When the poster comes up will send link to Rob at Goldsithney trai8ning club.

Have discovered there are a number of badger setts in that area, and there would be cubs at this time of the year.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoken to the owners. Jess disappeared from the immediate, and very remote area of the old clay pit, Towednack, near St Ives. Chy Todden Farm and Penderleath Camp Site are nearby. Although she is a typical bold terrier, she usually stays close to her owners. There aren't any cliffs in the immediate vicinity, but the clay pit has water in, and there are mine shafts, numerous rabbit holes, and possibly a badger sett. Hopefully Jess has avoided these, and has just gone exploring what to her is a new area. Owners have been quick off the mark with their own posters, and have alerted dog wardens, vets, and farms around the area where Jess disappeared. They will try and get a photo to admin so we can help with postering. They have also started scenting the area. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
