I had suggested she may have been picked up on this road. Thank God she was handed in, and is safely home. Bless her. Lucky girl Poppy, welcome home xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home Poppy, so relieved you are back safely.  I met Poppy's owner today and she had wandered onto the road in the evening towards the lights, which attract her as she has poor eyesight.  Luckily she was picked up and eventually taken to the Council kennels on the other side of Suffolk.  They would not release her, despite her age, as they said it was out of hours.  Consequently poor Poppy had a 2-day stay and the possibility of being put to sleep at the end of the week.  This is another sad and appalling example of what can happen.  Thank goodness Poppy is safe now.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'm so sorry your elderly lady Poppy has gone missing.  I've left a message so maybe you could let me know if we can do more to help.  I will look around as I am out that way today, but hope you have some good news and someone has found her safe and well.  If you have a picture of her and can email it to admin@doglost.com we will make up posters which can be distributed and put up.  Do keep calling Dog Wardens 01473 825889/826623 (Babergh), 01473 433015 (Ipswich), 01394 444000 (Suffolk Coastal).  And Kennels plus 'dog pounds': Pampered Pets 01728 747760, West End Kennels 01449 737641 as someone could have found her and called them or taken her there. Stay safe Poppy. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poppy is very elderly and does not walk very well, so would not be expected to go far. Disappeared from a track pm of 28th March, wearing a red coat and nothing been seen of her since. Owner and many helpers are out searching. Have spoken to the neighbour who has logged Poppy on here. She disappeared from a very rural track, off the Bergholt Rd, between Capel St Mary and Tattingstone sometime PM on Sat 28th. There are riders on horses, and many dog walkers searching the area. Notices up on the track and in the car park and entrances to the woods to alert people. There is a ditch alongside the track where Poppy has gone from, and this has been searched. The nearest water or pond, is about 3/4 mile away across rough ground. This has been searched once, but I have advised this should be searched again in case she has become confused and stumbled that way. Someone is heading out that way again now. Police have been notified - vets and Dw will be done tomorrow when on duty. Very worring as weather is so bitterly cold. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Keep going back to the area where the dog was last seen, as most dogs tend to go back to where they last saw their owner. Get owner to leave an item of their clothing and some food at the spot too. As this is an old dog, check any long grass/bushes as they may have decided to rest up and then not be able to get themselves up again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
