Just goes to show that the chip cannot always be relied upon and the answer lies in PUBLICITY and POSTERING!!!  So glad you have your girl home with you safe and sound xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Nelly is back!   She was found a couple of days ago in a local House grounds.  She was scanned but the chip had moved.  A lady had seen the posters and recognised the dog, checked the posters for my number and saw that the dog was chipped. Rescanned and found the chip and gave me a call.  We are over the moon!!.  Thanks to all who have helped and please if your dog is lost don't give up hope.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No update I'm afraid.  Just keep looking and keep hoping.  Lots of dogs on this site turn up due to chips, we can only hope Nelly is one of them.  It seems that a few working dogs have gone missing from this area recently so perhaps there is a gang targetting certain places looking for animals.  Thanks to all who keep looking especially AJ.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Another possible sighting on a local estate.  Just been to put up posters in the area and have a look around.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Could you enlist the help of any local school children now they on on holiday? Perhaps the offer of a small reward would help. The more eyes keeping a look out for her the better. Not only that, if it was her with the young couple, they might think that someone is "on to them" and start walking her a bit further afield....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Lepe turned out to be someone elses dog that is a regular because it's owners let iy out everyday and it wanders off.  It's been "found" several times!  Criminal.  More posters around the park and keep looking.  Spoke to AJ who keeps me going.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

2 more developments.  Black Cocker bitch found in Lepe.  Have sent a picture and am waiting for a reply.  Lady phoned me as a result of seeing my posters and told me she saw a dog of Nelly's description with a couple in a local park last Friday.  She owns an English Cocker and spoke to the couple who were unsure of the dogs age or exact breed.  I'm staking out the park todayLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went to Ashley Heath again.  They did have a black cocker recently but it was a dog.  Worth a try though.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rather than wait for them to send you a picture of the one they had you realy need to go to Ashley Heath and demand to see the pictue. It sounds wrong but it would not be the first time a chip is missed and they have reomed. Please go there ASAP before they delete the picture. Good luck and let us know how you get on.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have asked the RSPCA to send me a picture of the Cocker they had at Ashley Heath.  Just put Nelly in the Echo and the advertiser again with a photograph this time.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

They did have a springer at the same time which was brown & white (can't remember sex) and for just a day or two there was definitely a black female cocker on the website.  Sorry I can't remember what they said about her or exact date she was on.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Evenstar. Did they say the dog was chipped?- as they aren't always picked up. I would also visit them in person and, if the dog has been rehomed, ask to see a photo of her - which they MUST have if she was on their website, just to put your mind at rest.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoke to Ashley Heath yesterday...eventually!  Tip, when you phone take the rehoming option or nobody answers.  Asked them about the cocker and was told that they had a "Springer thing" in last week.  Glad to know they know their breeds at reception!  Website is a nightmare.  The dog was scanned as they all are and so if it had been Nelly they would have informed me.  Next job is to get her into the advertiser (local free paper) which is delivered to everybody.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have just seen your poster on Upton Heath - have you checked with RSPCA Ashley Heath as I noticed they had a black cocker bitch on their website early last week but it was only on there for a day or two.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks to all of you for all your help.  There is a notice in the local paper all this week and I am trying the local radio station.  Posters are now being spread in an ever increasing circle.  Lots of comments from dog walkers we see.  Posters also being taken to local farms on a dairy run.  Not been able to get into Blackmore Vale this week but will be in next.  I am going to a shoot dinner this week and will spread the word over there.  I am overwhelmed by the help I have received from people and am still confident of a safe return!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Also posted to Wessex Freecycle group bulletin board - member there suggested giving some posters to the local postal workers and milkmen. Would also be worth the owner trying the local pubs (The Tatnam, The George and New Inn(?)) Have noticed also that Nelly is not listed on the nationalpetregister as missing.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Spoke to owner earlier this evening to say I'll do what I can as I live just up the road and have 2 working cockers myself - Nelly is still missing. I've posted to the following: DIYnot forum - frequented by plumbers, builders, other trades etc. - had a response in 5 minutes from one guy saying he'll keep his eyes peeled as in the area quite a bit. Spoke to owner today.  Nelly got out of the garden and was seen nearby but nothing since.  Owner has notified dog wardens and chip people that she is missing and will be using media as much as possible.  Please watch out for this little dog. Owner. can you please keep the site updated on what has been done in your search for her and any sightings. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
