I just heard that Rolo had been found from another group I am on .. and I am so happy to see him happily reuinted.  I have often thought about Rolo as he is so distinctive.  Just so very pleased he is home safe and sound .. 'Welcome Home Rolo'Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rolo's mum so pleased you have managed to post an update.  You were not babbling on when we spoke tonight it was great to speak to you.  This is what everyone on DL is here for to see dogs go into the blue and back home with their family.  Hopefully you can now be a big help to others who are in the position you were in.  As we discussed Rolo will soon be back to normal with his weight, good luck with the training and do not forget we want the reunited pic to finish his page off and we would love to see him with you and Fudge his best buddy.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

To all who have helped look out for Rolo a big huge thank you!!!!! I got call from local charity - Pet Aid on Tuesday morning to say they had Rolo, I cried buckets. He has been getting fed the last 2 weeks by a couple who live in Palmwood Grove in Prenton who thinks he has been in that area for some time as their bins kept getting raided.  He is extemely thin, down to about 1/3 of his origional body weight but his spirit is still the same as ever.  Other dog Fudge has accepted him back with open paws.  Going to vets in the morning to get him checked out, but other than being very thin he appears well.  He is ravenous all the time but having to feed little an often.  Cant believe it has been 10 weeks since he disappeared.  Been offered some training to help re- habilitate him to walk properly on a lead and to ensure that there is no repeat of this incident which I will be taking up, I never want to go through so many ups and downs again.  Thank you to all of you who have spent so much of your time looking out for him, I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say I wish I could hug you to say thank you all but I would probabley end up crying again. Dawn  and Woodys Mum you are welcome to visit whenever.  I will post a photo as soon as I can to show me and my boys back together as it shold be.  Thank you thank you thank you.  Thanks also to Jan the co ordinator for your help advice and support, and listening to me babbling on and on  xxxxx Helen, Fudge and Rolo,  one happy family again.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I was gobsmacked when Joan phoned me this morning! I really couldnt believe the news at first!! I am so happy for you Helen and of course Rolo. We may never know why you bolted & why you became fearful of people or even how you manged to survive in this weather on your own! This gives hope to everyone everywhere who have a missing dog! It only takes one phonecall!! Keep hoping & keep looking!! Once he has settled down I would love to come and see him! He is certainly one lucky boy!! Dawn x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh this is wonderful news indeed.   Have been very sad about this dog, he is the spit in colour of my Bess and I felt sure he would be noticed if out and about, we are always being stopped by people saying what a beautiful colour she is.   Hope he is well, look forward to hearing how he is after his long adventure - great that the kennels checked for his chip.   Welcome home Rolo, gorgeous boy xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No sightings at all unfortunately, did get contacted by another website who are putting the photo and details into Dog Training Magazine this month to get some more coverage.  Have to say I am becoming resigned to the fact that he isn't coming back, hopefully he is warming his toes infront of a fire somewhere.  Once again thank you to all who are keeping your eyes open    xxx Helen  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My boyfriend spent a good 2.5hrs searching this area on his bike this morning and he didnt see anything. I am going to spend Thursday walking the area with my dogs also as he said it was vast and he only manged to cover about half the area he could be hiding. Lets hope the cold weather forces Rolo towards people! He must be froze in this weather :( Helen have you taken a poster to the Poole in pub? Some regulars may recognise seeing him when they are walking home..Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have had one call yesterday but it was a false alarm, was one of Rolo's siblings with his family in a Mersey Park, local to me.  I have been back to the B&Q roundabout and nature walks in this area a number of times over the last few days together with Fudge my other dog who is missing Rolo terribly.  There does not appear to be dogs around there as there are no visible signs of dog poo, or bedding areas, have given the workmen under there another photo.  Will keep going back.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I saw Rolo a couple of hours after he slipped his lead in Tranmere. As did the person who saw him at the roundabout. I spoke to Helen the day after when she reported losing him to us and I told her of the sighting at B&Q then. I have also been to see the Dog Wardens in Birkenhead and told them.  I think its quite possible he's headed the nearest houses to B&Q that would be in Birkenhead north so it might be worth putting posters up there. There was a Poster in Tam O'Shanter farm car park yesterday.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Bedson tip could be a food source for Rolo so he is likely to stay around that area. or keep returning. Would be a good idea to poster heavily and have some scenting too. Good luck...judy

Its GREAT news. What we have been waiting for. At last we have a positive search area to focus on. Preying he senses his owner and his doggie buddy when she goes tomorrow. I will try myself to go there before work for a scout around. I know Joan is also doing the same. Have updated all the websites asking for local peoples help on the refuge. Thanks everyone for your help x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Dawn and KH for posting, KH what day did you see Rolo?  I've just had a long chat with Rolo's owner, alerted them of your posts and given some advice, will email SCENTING instructions.  Owner is going to visit the area, they will poster the area and hand out smaller posters, which they have been doing in the area he went missing.  Good luck and fingers crossed we see him in the BLUE soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sighting at B&Q is 100% positive. I work for Wallasey rspca and spotted Rolo on my day off passing Bidston Tip around 3.30pm. I stopped the car and tried to coax him to me but he was too scared and after stopping for a moment he carried on running :-( he also looked very tired. I turned the car round to try again but by the time I had done that he had vanished! He was heading up towards the roundabout by the Poole Inn pub and I could only guess which exit he took? I looked for him for a while in every direction but no sign. Next day at work I was told a member of public had been in the previous day to say they saw a dog fitting Rolo's description at B&Q roundabout, staff went out to look for him but couldn't see him anywhere.I still look for him every day when I'm out & about in the areaLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

At least people are noticing the posters which is only a good thing!! I have been stopped twice by people at storeton woods firstly and then Dibbinsdale looking at Skye thinking it was Rolo until I told them she was his sister. Again at least his image is sinking into peoples minds. He sounds very scared and is prob avoiding people so you are doing the best thing by walking around the area and laying your scents down. Possibly leave some food out incase he is still coming in your area. Who knows he may come at night when its quiet. Prehaps to scared to make himself known... Do you think he is local rather than Leasowe way? Was it a 100% confirmed sighting at the B&Q roundabout. Just seemed strange for him to have covered so much ground in such a short space of time? Whats he like with people in general? Would he approach a stranger? We have just fostered a GSDx who wouldnt go near anyone other than myself. He actually ran away twice and I had to catch him on both occasions as he was too fightened to trust anyone. I have my eyes and ears open at all times for him.. You must be beside yourself Helen. I only hope we can reunite you all soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks you to everyone for your help and support.  Got a phone call on Sat to say that he had been seen in Victoria Road in Tranmere on Tuesday13th, frustrating as this is only a few roads away from me, but also that this news was over a week old.  I have been out and around this area since and have put some posters up here too incase someone had taken him is, she said he looked terrified but did not approach due to his size, why did she not call the dog warden!  Don't know whats worse not getting any news, or getting some thats so out of date, well me and Fudge are still out 3-4 times a day just in case either gets a sniff of the other.  Thank you all once again x HelenLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No news. His owner thinks someone must have him, with there being no sightings etc. She has put some posters locally and a the lady who bred Rolo has done some new ones that we're going to put around to-morrow. If someone has got him, they'll have to take him out and about sometime ? and then he might be recognised.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have Rolo's sister and know I would be heartbroken to lose her. If he is anything like his sister, Rolo maybe weary of people and might be keeping a low profile. I have posted on dogs-life, dogpages and the refuge forums. I have also sent his photo via email to the dog pound. He is such a distinctive looking dog and the lack of sightings is worrying. Makes me wonder if someone has taken him in? I know his owner Helen is printing some posters off (I cant as have no working printer). I have let as many of my walking pals know locally and they are all keeping their eyes and ears open. Hoping we get a confirmed sighting so we can know were to focus the search. Preying we find this sweet boy. dawn x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sainsbury, sorry to see Rolo is missing.  Thanks for registering his details on DL, we will do all we can to help you in your search.  Great you have uploaded a photo.  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible, we cannot stress enough the importance of the postering.  Posters can be printed by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be logged in).    Contact DW's, rescues, vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Dogs can be rehomed after 7 days, try and visit rescues do not rely on phone calls alone.  Great he is CHIPPED do contact the Chip Co and report him missing and check your details are up to date. Please update us on who has been contacted i.e. DW's etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting  Add a comment  just above Comments.  Good luck and hope he is found soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
