Bertie sadly still missing. Haven’t given up hope. In case he was taken please keep your eye out for a Jack Russell with a large black ‘saddle’ on his back
Jo
Took a stick yesterday & had good look along the nearby river banks. All quite open so fairly easy to see. Many many holes so only listened to ones near where Bertiexwas lost. Absolutely no sign.
Our other dog came along the path today with Bertie’s brother just to perhaps leave a scent. Will put more posters out tomorrow. Haven’t given up yet bit feeling very despondent. Thanks for your help x

Ok Jo well done for doing all that , Posters do get results as many people see something but think nothing off it at the time .
Does Bertie tend to be interested in holes if he has gone down & got stuck they can & do pop out again days and weeks later 'Fingers Crossed x' ? Listening at holes is a very good thing to-do , does Bertie have a fave squeaky toy or best friend that can give the holes a good sniff?
Sorry to say but have you taken a stick and run along the edge of the River sometimes little dogs get stuck in the reeds or debris ?
So he was behind you one sec then gone the next or ran off after something ?Last edited: 2020-12-02 15:41:30 by Reynard

Hi, yesterday we got the sewage works opened up (my son works for Wessex). Have rules it out, there was nothing there and no blockages! I have put posters up at Ford, West Yatton, N Wraxall, beginning of Marshfield, Yatton Keynell.
I just have a photo of a map of the area but not a link. I think people will know where he went missing though if they know the Sewage works. Have looked in badger holes in fields above the works and along the path down to Long Dean. Hope to go again today and have a good listen.

Thanks Jo , maybe Copy & Paste the link to the Map here 👍 Think you need Posters opposite side to where Bertie went missing (Castle Combe - Ford rd)
Have you checked the actual Sewage Works guess that’s run by Wessex Water ?
Jo
I'd like to upload a map I have of the area Bertie was lost in, how do I do it? Thanks
Jo
Thanks for your helpful comments. I walked from Castle Combe and lost Bertie near the sewage works just before you arrive at Long Dean. Have been back most days. I will try and update posters to ask locals not to call for Bertie but just to look. Jo owner

Was in area today great to see some Posters well done x (do need some the other side of the Valley also perhaps)I guess parking was near the wooded area (single track road) not sure if this is where BERTIE went missing or maybe on a walk in area , however noted a lot of Water Courses which dogs do tend to follow . If BERTIE was keen on Fox/Badger/Rabbit holes sadly there seems to be many & its very rural x

I’m Jo Bertie’s owner. Looked again today, no sign. Local Walkers were out looking for him. Left a basket & clothing with our scent near where we lost Bertie. Also cooked burgers nearby as suggested both as John kindly suggested. Will keep looking 😢

Local awareness is good, Bertie's owners are doing everything right.
