Millys Mum
Laura, it's great news that Rummy has been found - thank you Battersea for helping this gorgeous boy. Deptford to the Old Kent Road - that's quite a distance isn't it? As Sable has already said, can this very precious lad have a chip AND a nice, new shiny ID tag on his collar as a welcome home present?! You were very lucky to get him back and you really cannot take any chances these days, especially as far as Staffies or Staffie crosses are concerned!!! Welcome home handsome Rummy - stay close to 'Mum' and safe in future.

Sorry to see that gorgeous Rummie has gone missing. Firstly inform the Dog warden (if this has not already been done), who you will be able to contact at your council office (not open at the weekend). They will also tell you where stray dogs are taken to. Contact the rescue kennels and give them a poster of your dog.  By law, kennels have the right to re-home a dog if it is not claimed by 7 days, so PLEASE CALL them EVERY DAY. Posters can be downloaded if you click on POSTER 1 on his Doglost page after logging in. Posters (In plastic folders) need to be put up in the area where he went missing, or where there have been sightings, if any - on lamp posts, entrances to parks and strategic places in the area where he went missing,  like at the start and finish of tracks and paths in parks, dog bins, at vets, pet shops, garages, pubs, carry-out food shops, post offices,  local shops who often allow postcards in the window, supermarkets who have notice boards, community centres, youth clubs, schools etc. You can ask the postman, milkman, taxi drivers, street cleaners, bin men (even put poster on bins), to take some flyers and hand them out on their rounds. You can ask school bus drivers and kids on the bus, or if you have kids on the bus, get them to hand out flyers at school.  Deliver flyers to houses, businesses & pop through letterboxes. Hand out flyers to people in the street, especially dog walkers. Put posters or flyers in car windows. Local rescue centres and kennels, also police offices need checking regularly and preferably visited in person, by owner or someone who knows your dog, because it's breed may not be recognised by other people. Get some media coverage if you can, by asking the local radio station to broadcast your dog as missing and put an ad in the local newspaper with a picture of him or her. It is important to get posters out there and seen by as many people as possible. Good luck. Hope your pet  is found very soon.   Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
