I'm very touched by everybody's response and thankyou for your support in helping me get her back. I located her at the local vets; she had been run over and taken there. She's okay and remarkably unscathed considering she was hit by two cars. Her chip hadn't registered when they scanned her so it's worth baring in mind that even if your dog is chipped it's not completely reliable. Thanks again. Losing your dog really opens your eyes to the extent of the stray dog problem and makes me want to do much more to support dog rescue charities.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just seen her on another missing pet site and the details are on there. She has gone MISSING FROM A GARDEN IN ARMLEY, but lives in Bradford. I think strays from Leeds are taken to Springfiled Kennels in Wakefiled (01924 271028). If you type in lost dogs yorkshire to google, the first search result is the site where photos are posted of found dogs at the kennels. There may be other kennels used as well. Otherwise the advice is the same, postering seems to be the best way of finding missing dogs. If you think she has been stolen, then report it to the police and make sure you obtain a CRIME NUMBER (in case she is found and there is any kind of dispute).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I will take posters in the vets in Shipley, and Pets at Home in town ( can't do this until tomorrow unfortunately). Bradford RSPCA are having an open day today if there is anyone who could get there with a poster ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Are there any more details about where she ran off ?  Poster, poster, poster !!! Hopefully someone has picked her up and are not sure what to do, people don't always know to call the dog warden, and they are closed at the weekend. Strays are usually taken to Marina Kennels in Huddersfield (01484 426407) and I think possibly Fleet Kennels in Queensbury. Kennels should scan for microchips, but DO NOT RELY on this. Call them and visit them regularly to check what dogs they have in. On the weekend I think there is an anwserphone message if you call the dog warden which tells people where to take stray dogs they have found, so you could call and find out where they go. Inform te microchip company that she is missing. Report it to the dog warden first thing tomorrow. The police and RSPCA do not deal with stray dogs but still worth contacting them in case someone has found her and has called them for advice. Abbey House Vets (01274 876686) deal with injured strays so also call these. Poster in local shops, taxi offices, pet shops, takeaways, speak to the local postman, local vets. Speak to everyone in the local area you can , especially dog walkers. The more people who know she is missing, the more people that are on the lookout for her. The more posters there are, the more chance that someone will contact you. Someone may have taken her in, or someone may know of someone else who has. Good luck x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
