So sorry to hear this about Inca. So sorry you have had to wait so long for closure. It should be law that they scan all the dogs as Inca was chipped and had a tag on! They should at least have notified the dog warden...please owner do complain so this does not happen to some one else. Run free over Rainbow bridge.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oh Maddy !  -  I have just opened your email and come to read this post. I am so so very sorry. You will know how upset I feel, as we tried so very hard for so long didnt we? There just was no clue, and this explains it so clearly. Such a terrible shame you have had to suffer for so long not knowing the outcome, but I suppose we must thank the guy in one way for burying her. He will now, I'm sure realise what this meant for you, and how you have suffered. I hope they will change their policy. On the good side, I am so pleased to hear you have got Juno, and how lucky the pups were ready to go, just when you were ready to take one on. May you have a long and happy life together, and I hope Inca is now well established amongst new friends at Rainbow Bridge. Love to you all. Hazel xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have finally got closure on Inca. A couple of weeks ago a Network Rail worker knocked on my neighbours door & asked her if she had lost a black dog last year because he had buried one on the railway near by. Unfortunately my neighbour didn't think to send the guy down to me to explain the details but apparently he had tried to phone the number on the tag but because he got an answer machine decided not to leave a message & he never tried again or reported it. This guy has no idea just how much anguish he has caused by his lack of communication. I have taken it up with community relations for Network Rail & they are trying to track down the worker + I have made it VERY clear that there should be a policy that all deaths on railway must be logged. Although we are very sad that Inca was killed on the railway line at least we know now why she disappeared with out a trace, the not knowing was the awful thing. There is a sweet end to this bitter tale because once we knew what had happened to Inca I felt able to look at ads again for puppies & guess what Inca's Mum & Dad had puppies ready to go so we now have Juno. She is adorable & takes after her Mum whilst Inca looked more like her dad, we are keeping a very close eye on her and she most definitely staying in the garden under our watchful eye. Thanks to the Lost Dog team (especially Hazel)it was a huge encouragement to have support from people who understand just how attached we become to our canine family members  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have had a nice chat with Maddy D tonight, and unfortunately still no news on Inca, but owners are definitely still active and wanting Inca home. She will be over a year old now, and is much loved and missed. We hope she will be scanned very very soon. Good Luck Inca - I am willing you to get back home very soon sweetheart x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Checked out the photo but alas the found dog was not Inca. There have been some possible leads this week but none that have recovered Inca but I am as always grateful for the concerned puplic. Who knows one of these days it will be Inca Maddy  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi MaddyD - I know that the Haselemere dog was reunited with owners by the finder as I called them to get further details to cross match our missing ones - I do hope that Countryman's coverage may bring you the news that we are all hoping for.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just checked the Nat Petregister but couldn't spot the dog found in Haslemere. Went through the 'found' reg but no match I'm afraid.  I have also re checked the animal rescue centre's and added Inca to a few more lists. I can't really believe she is still missing, here's hoping the new year will bring some good news... MaddyLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Maddy - that is right - put up more posters evrywhere, and particularly where they are being taken down. Someone may have her in that area and may not want the posters to be there. Keep up your good work and you WILL get her home. Loads of opportunities for handing out the flyers with Christmas coming up, and hopefully she will be back with you by then.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I got a phone call last week of a sighting of black dog munching on a deer (knocked down by car).It was in our area so thought it might possibly be Inca out there and learning how to survive. Spent lots of time searching, talking to local people & adapting the posters but the trail has gone cold. I do feel that if she was on the run more people will have spotted her so it might have been a false alarm. Anyway I plan to revisit the area tomorrow (Frant/Bells Yew Green) just in case. I have noticed that many of my posters have now been taken down, I suppose people assume she has been found.I shall put some new posters up in the centre of Town tomorrow. I have to say with weeks passing my hope is fading... THANKS THOUGH FOR YOUR SUPPORTIVE MESSAGES  Maddy  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a possible sighting last night so spent several hours walking the streets but with no luck, wondering if Inca could be hidden up some where but has become scared so keeping a low profile? Anyway I've been out today putting up MORE posters in areas where she might have been seen, just want closure not knowing is so distressingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Jayne. Owner has been in contact with me and is very upset there has been no news at all on this baby. Struggling to know what to do and could use some local support. Are there any helpers in the area reading this who could lend a little hand with postering the area please. I fear this little one has been taken now, and may have been sold on. We need to make her too hot to handle. Hopefully anyone having bought Inca, will see a poster and do the right thing. I have a new A4 poster and flyers I can email to anyone who can help. The flyers are cheap to print, and great for spreading the word. loads of opportunities with Xmas looming - pubs, supermarkets, markets etc. Thanks. Stay safe Inca - we want you home now xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner - sorry to hear there has been no news today, but it is still quite early days, as long as you keep calling your DW and pounds, as unclaimed dogs can be re-homed after seven days. I have emailed you a new A4 poster and some flyers to help you with your search. Good Luck and hope she is home soon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner if no news on Inca by tomorrow, please log onto Inca's page and leave us a comment with an update. Just click on the blue cross above the comments and a text box will open. Feel free to contact me if you need any help, and do make sure you poster all pubs in the area, as suggested. Stay safe Inca.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Owner - sorry that Inca has gone missing. Thank you for registering her details and for uploading her photos. Your account is now activated, and you can view a poster of Inca which is ready to print. Please click just above the dogs details left hand side DOG POSTER 1.   Be sure to inform your dog wardens immediately, by contacting your local council, and also make sure you check your local pounds personally every couple of days as dogs can be re-homed after only seven days if not claimed. Also notify all vets in the area and police. Posters need to go up immediately around the area of loss, and then place posters further away wherever most people go. Dogs that run off, do usually return to the last place they saw their owner so please leave things with your scent or bits of her bedding near the entrance to your garden or place she escaped from in case she can scent her way home. Do make all neighbours aware, and ask them to check their gardens.   You may need hundreds of posters in plastic sleeves, but hopefully someone has taken your baby in, and is waiting to see posters go up, as by your registered details, she does not have a tag. Good Luck and hope to see her home soon.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
