I am so sorry to read about Skip.  This situation happens all over the country .. a dear friends dog was in the same situation, and we only heard about it as a 'witness' to the RTA contacted us and told us they had seen it happen TWO weeks afterward.  The traffic police and council had been phoned daily since she went missing and they denied all knowledge .. after this info the council and police were 'badgered' by us and eventually admitted it.  It is a totally shameful situation.  Please everyone write to your councils and MPs demanding to know what the rules are on informing the owners in this situation - luckily my local council are good and caring, but that is what it boils down to - local luck, which is not good enough.  RIP Skip, you were such a beautiful dog.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

BC   we are all so sorry to hear what has happened but our rules say no personnal contact details or names can be given out on a website without that persons permission...... Hope you understand this as it puts Doglost in a vulnerable position. Thank you.   You may of course repost omitting contact details/names etc.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I dont know why the copy of my letter to the council has been  removed, I just wanted to share my feelings with Doglost regards the council, and anyone else who might of been interested in writing to them, ??????  Its no good people sitting back and thinking oh dear !!! This will happen time and time again, and has done in the past, its about time Doglost and other similar websites, took a stand with the council, so that this sort of thing is not happening on a daily basis.

I am so so sorry, this is heartbreaking. Run free at the bridge dear Skip, you beautiful boy, no one can hurt you now. Owner, you are in my thoughts.  As for the council workers..they should be shot at dawn, this is unacceptable...judy

e mail from a helper: Hi there.   Crossposted from another site : Unfortunately, Skip was involved in a RTA (hit and run) the day after going missing, and sadly didn't make it. Even though Skip was wearing a collar and identity tag, the council did not have the decency to contact the owner. So sad.  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Run Free at the Bridge you Beautiful Boy, and shame on the highways department for not liasing with the dog warden, at least the owner would of known days ago about the loss of his much loved dog.  If anyone feels strong enough about this you can write to Steve Owen of Neath District Council, or call him on 01639 686304, he is the person dealing with Roberts complaint. I will certainly be doing both.

Ive just spoken to Skips owner, and im going to go to neath sometime next week to help him with postering, he has no transport so is finding it very difficult, trying to get a story put in the local newspapers, and he has sent me a very touching story about his life with skip, its so sad, fingers and everything else crossed that this boy comes home safe and sound. Ive also said if there are any sightings of Skip i will take a trap down to neath, so if anyone heres anything please keep me updated on this one, thanks

What a handsome lad. Get some pilchards down very near to where he went missing. The aroma travels a very long way. It may home him in closer. As a previous post said, collies get very frightened and he is probably hiding himself very well. Good luck in your search and I hope he is home very soon.. judy

What a beautiful beautiful boy.  If I know collies he will be hiding under a bush somewhere.  Poster, Poster, Poster, put them in your car windows and your friends cars.  Advertise him missing as much as possible.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks to owner's friend for emailing details to Admin, can a jpg photo be sent to Admin a.s.a.p. any problems with a photo let us know.  Sorry to see Skip is missing, we will do all we can to help you in your search for him.  You need to poster poster poster the area as much as possible.  Posters can be printed once a photo has been uploaded by selecting Dog Poster 1 just above Dog Information (you must be registered and logged in). Contact DW's, rescues, vets and leave a poster (you can find vets in the area by clicking on the logo right hand side just underneath Latest Missing photo).  Dogs can be rehomed after 7 days, try and visit rescues do not rely on phone calls alone. Do up date us on who has been contacted i.e. DW's etc and if you have started postering.  You can leave a comment by selecting  Add a comment  just above Comments.  Good luck and hope he is found soon.  Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
