So pleased this boy is safe and has come through his walkabout seemingly unscathed. What a fantastic outcome for all the marvellous people who helped in the search. Well done all!

Dear Friends

As many of you know because you have been following Facebook and other updates this afternoon we managed to trap Hugo 8 miles away from where he first went missing.

He is amazingly ok; tired (exhausted), his eyes are a little sore, no other injuries that we can see. Poor lad is extremely smelly - very! He is sleeping now.

I must say I was beginning to think I would never get to post "found" but here we are and without your support, sightings, calls and kindness I must confess I don't think I could have mustered the energy to get to this point.

There has been an amazing group of people supporting me; the Dog Lost team and their wonderful leader based in Lowestoft, the Lost Dog Recovery team from the South travelled from near Brighton, Bromley and Kent to help. Also some private individuals who foster locally and supported me from day one. Gloria you are amazing and kind - thank you!

I've met every farmer in the area who despite this being such a busy time of year have granted access to their land and been so kind and supportive too.

He is exhausted, I am exhausted and crying as I type this because I am overwhelmed by the kindness of the community I live in. Thank you.

The Red Foundation will be supporting Hugo with behavioural training and at some point he will be out on a lead and with a harness (possible straight jacket) signing autographs.

Thank you so much everyone

Sam xx

I'm really pleased to report that Hugo has been caught and is safe, thank you to everybody who helped make this happen, so pleased this little boy is safe xx
Sam

As you all know I am the fosterer of Hugo and The Red Foundation have asked Lost Dogs etc to coordinate the search for him.

Yesterday was was an eventful day. Sadly due to being tracked a little too readily he was pushed out of the area we were watching before the rest of the teams arrival on site. However he was sighted a few miles away. Our team on the ground went to the new location, started setting up cameras and a trap and he popped out of the bushes. So our team have seen him. He did venture into the trap but then out. But the field was being harvested so yesterday was not an easy day.
What was a nerve wracking was the two hours spent ushering him out of that field playing dodge the combine harvester which meant we kept him alive and got him out.

Thankfully the farmers we amazing and really committed to helping. More than ever the sightings are vital. If you see him please do not chase, pin point your location and take note if which way he is heading, then call 07791 974768 or the other numbers on the posters you have seen.
Please help by printing posters and handing out flyers we are now working across and within a 10-15 mile radius of Bruisyard.

Thus little guy is super smart, goes to show how robust out breed are.

I cannot thank DogLost enough for their kindness and support from across the UK teams and all the others that have stepped forward. Thank you. See you all in a field shortly I am sure. Sam xx
Sam
Gloria thank you - you are so kind and supportive! Just about to post an update you may have seen it. Sam x

I put laminated posters around Framlingham earlier today and also gave out fliers to shops and to Poshpaws dog parlour to hand out , I have not been able to search as I have a bad ankle but still hoping Hugo is found good luck everyone is so lovely to hear there is lots of help coming from the best teams I’m sure he will be home soon

HUGO/SAL UPDATE (taken from the rescue)
We have 2 very experienced groups of volunteers working together to bring him home.
Lost Dog Recovery UK South and DogLost Norfolk & Suffolk.
We desperately needed sightings as there had been none for 5 days and thankfully there have now been several which is largely down to you guys. So on that note thank you!! We couldn’t have done it with out you. (GO TEAM HUGO )
What next??
Now we need to stand back and let the lost dog teams put cameras, traps and feed stations in place. We need to give Hugo time to cool down as he’s been flushed from his safe space. Once he has he'll seek food.
There is also a k9 tracker dog working so keeping the area as free from dog scents as possible will make his job easier.
If we need to search again we will make sure you are the first to know.
What do you do if you see him?
Say nothing
Take note of where you are-if you can drag a pin to your location please send us a screen shot.
Note which direction he’s heading in and any landmarks.
Call the number on the page.
DO NOT CHASE HIM. We don’t want to push him out of the area.
Other things to consider-
It’s a conservation area so there are certain laws in place restricting searches
The land is private land, the farmers are kindly letting us use it but if they are overwhelmed by the number if people they are within their rights to ask us to leave.
On a personal note from a dax owner perspective- we are special owners and sitting by goes against our instincts but right now Hugo is terrified, he is relying on his natural instincts, and whilst we all want to be the person he comes to it’s just not going to happen. Currently he's a wild animal and will be thinking like one. We therefore need to treat him like one rather than our beloved breed who should be curled up on Sam's lap snoring.
LETS GET HIM HOME
If you have any questions, direct them through me. If I don't know the answer I can ask. That way the others can focus on bringing our boy home.
PLEASE SHARE TO ALL RELEVANT POSTS.
And guys, thank you all for everything you have been doing. I'm proud to be part of such an awesome community.Last edited: 2020-07-17 11:18:48

Sam I’m laid up with my ankle nothing too serious but as soon as it’s settled down I’ll be out and about helping to look for Hugo I hope in the meantime he will be found thank you for the update Sam
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Thank you Sam for the update, hoping now the weather has improved he will start to show himself, it's good there are more posters up as this will raise awareness in the local area.
Sam
Hello everyone - sadly still no news. We are still trying to get as many posters out as we can. If you can help with that it would be a great help.

We are trying to get to some of the more remote farms and also extend the radius of the search by up to 10 miles.

We are hopeful given the weather he has been hiding out. We still have a presence in the original area that he was seen in but we are respectfully asking people not to search those areas to allow him to settle if he is still there. Thank you!

Sam

I have printed ten posters off and taking them and putting them up at Worlingworth and Dennington as we speak and we will also be looking for Hugo around those areas with hope of seeing him good luck to everyone helping
Sam
Dear All - thank you so much for your messages, support and kindness.

We still haven't found him but we know where he has been but we desperately need a further sighting to help with the search. If people can keep a look out that would be fantastic and ring me if they see him please. We need a location, direction of travel and an overall description. He is very timid and please don't try to call, catch him or chase him as we do need to calm him down and if he is chased we will have to re-do all of the work we have done to now to calm him and create safer areas for him to go to.

We are very keen to get more posters out as the professional trackers tell me that dogs can move across a wide area to find food, if anyone can put a poster or posters up in Worlingworth, Framlingham, Laxfield, Badingham or Dennington it would be a great help. I have about 5 posters here and plastic wallets or they can be printed from DogLost site.

Thank you again and I am just so touched to know I have so many amazing, kind and generous people living around me. I wish we'd met under different circumstances! But thank you again a million times over.

Well done Sam and thank you for updating on here, (I am transferring your comments to the facebook posts) Hopefully this little chap will show himself soon, it's such a vast, dense area he is missing in so hopefully the posters will do the work.
Sam
URGENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP WITH POSTERS TO HELP FIND SAL/HUGO - would anyone please have time to print out some posters today and pop them out? We have covered Bruisyard, Peasenhall and the edge of Badingham but more would be a help and further afield - just in case people have been out walking, cycling, driving and seen him. Any help appreciated - thank you!
Sam
Just to let everyone know there are no further updates overnight - we monitored the area overnight and walked it again this morning. Fingers crossed he has hunkered down for a while. Getting lots of support from the Lost Dog team and everyone - thank you for visiting me and making sure I am not on my own late. We really really need another sighting. Sam x
Sam
Thank you everyone for your continued support, advice and caring. The "dog lost team" are being amazing and giving advice, direct support and direction. The lovely Sausages of Southwold team are kindly keeping me company throughout the day and night too. We have a drone team. The farmers are being wonderful and so understanding. We really need a further sighting - please call me if you see him and remember not to approach him as he will run. We just need to know where he is so we can continue to trace him and support him. thank you so much Sam xx
Sam
Good morning everyone. Sadly, despite sightings yesterday and such amazing support from so many people Sal/Hugo is still not found. We will continue to look for him and we want to try and keep the area as quiet and calm as we can so the tracker team can work to encourage him out. Also we don't want to upset the farmers (who have been jolly supportive) or the nesting birds. If you see him can you please let us know as it helps this process and reassures us all that he is still alive and in the area. We stayed out until 1130 last night but he didn't appear and again this morning we have been out since dawn. Thank you so much everyone - it has been really kind of you to be so generous, supportive and watching everyone pull together has been really emotional. We aren't giving up!!!
Take care and more updates to follow.

Hugo has been seen a few times in the area now, please can I ask people not to go searching for him as we need him to settle, if you do see him please ignore him and walk away and leave him alone x
Gloria
I had a sighting and as I was so pleased to see him I called his name a lesson to be learned on my part as he ran the other way so I really apologise if because of me calling him it may have frightened him , the good that came out of today’s sighting was that at least we know he was or is still in the area where he went missing., and was able to get hold of the owners and I believe another drone to look around the field
I pray Hugo is found I feel bad about calling his name and I apologise for that it wasn’t until I arrived back home I realised I should have remained quiet 😞
Sam
Thank you - we are also putting up posters and speaking to people on walks and the drone has been out/up again this morning. Sadly still nothing. FaceBook and all social media is being constantly updated. Thank you everyone. Sam x

Thank you ALS and Gloria for going out searching for Hugo/Sal, please remember that if you are searching for him it needs to be a very quiet search, it is very unlikely that he will come to his name or approach people as he is very timid, if you do see him please contact the owner immediately with the location.
Gloria
shared on twitter and facebook and im going out today to put up four posters and searching for him with hope

No signs at all sadly we walked fields and wooded areas early this morning in Bruisyard spoke to a lady walking her dogs she had seen nothing but will keep an eye out for him , we can go back later but it is difficult to know where to look really without a new sighting , fingers crossed x
Sam
Search continued until midnight - nothing. We have been out since dawn searching hedges, fields, ditches. We had one report of an animal heard squealing and we immediately went back out last night but it was midnight and impossible to see much or work out the direction of the sound given the wind. Thank you everyone for your support x
Sam
Thank you so so much everyone - I have just retraced his sprint again but still nothing - I have left his crate , a blanket, water and food out. Just in case
