Really hope that Alfie is home very soon. Have you spoken, and given posters to postman, dustman, delivery people in the area? They are on the road all the time, and maybe will have seen him. Good luck.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I saw Alfie's nice big coloured missing ad in this week's News Shopper (page 86). Hope the extra publicity brings him back home. The same paper was responsible for getting Samson, another of our missing Staffies, back last Summer. Their circulation is well over 200,000, I believe and so hopefully his lovely photos will jog someone's memory.

Any news on Alfie (I sent you another text message this morning)? Have you had any calls about possible sightings? How's the postering going? Alfie's owner would you update us please. Here's hoping he's already home.

Moth, I also finally managed to speak to Alfie's owner on Thursday evening & then I lost my internet/email connection. I've just spent almost 3 hours today on the telephone getting it sorted and all appears to be ok at the mo. Unfortunately DL doesn't have a PM facility although we hope to have the facility back in the not too distant future. Also Head Office aren't able to send out emails to Helpers. From what Sean said, he certainly needs some help but we seem to be rather thin on the ground in our area. I will try to contact Samsonsmum (reunited brindle SBT) and Baggy Dog but I don't think there is anyone else in our neck of the woods. I wonder whether he may be sheltering, having fun chasing foxes and perhaps finding a food source in Elmers End cemetery. I mentioned this to Sean and also, as you've already mentioned South Norwood Country Park. I'm also worried about the nearby railway line and 'open access' stations. Alfie's owner had contacted the Croydon DW but I gave him tel contact nos for Bromley and Lewisham DWs who he said he would contact the next day. He hadn't targetted any pubs which I said was absolutely essential, as many of us know, especially as far as Staffies are concerned!

Sean, good to see you on here posting on Alfie's page. Thanks for updating us. In what circumstances did Alfie go missing? Did he escape from home or whilst on a walk? I have sent you another text - please call me. Have you read my earlier post about who and where to target? What part of Bromley do you live? Have you contacted the Dog Wardens. Has Alfie done this before?

Alfie still not found I have put missing posters up (some have been ripped down), told police,Battersea,Doglost.co.uk (thanks for this site), neighbours, time he went missing walked the street the next day at same time asking people if they saw anything, check the local parks and estates, going to put signs up in the local police stations tonight and more signs up. Cheers Sean.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi moth! So pleased to hear that you've been in contact with Alfie's owner & thank you for posting. I missed a call from Alfie's owner yesterday evening and wasn't able to contact him today as I was out most of the day. However, I will try to make contact with him tomorrow. I hope he has read the 2 posts on Alfie's page.

I'm sorry sorry to hear that Alfie is missing. I have sent you a text asking for you to call me so that Doglost can help you. I live quite close to you and so have plenty of local knowledge. Please register your details with us so that you can log into the site and update us on what you have done so far. It is MOST important that you poster like mad and make Alfie the hottrest and best known boy 'in town'. You have to start off with at least 100+ posters (more if possible). We can also produce mini-posters for you to be used as hand-outs. These don't have to be printed in colour but can be photocopied in black & white onto BRIGHTLY coloured paper (I found bright orange worked really well). All found dogs in our area will go to Battersea Dogs Home (the great news is that Alfie is chipped and wearing a collar which will help with his 'capture'). Please ensure that you call them & send them a poster. Places to target: parks, vets, dog wardens, mini cab offices, pubs, schools, supermarkets, takeaways, petrol stations, post office sorting offices, posties, milkman, your local community police and police stations. Also place Alfie's missing poster in the back windows of your car(s) & ask family, friends, neighbours & work colleagues to do the same. When visiting pubs, try to go there at lunchtime or early evening when it tends to be less busy. Ask the manager to display a poster of Alfie both inside and on their windows (facing onto the pavement). If you can't manage to laminate the posters (sometimes too expensive & prohibitive), use plastic 'punched pockets' and place the poster in with the opening at the bottom. Also, in view of our awful weather at the mo, seal the opening with clear waterproof tape to give them a longer 'shelf life''. I will post any additional info as & when I think of it but just get out there, spread the word and POSTER, POSTER, POSTER. Good Luck!!!
